Fate/zero Original Soundtracks Vol. 1

Here is my review:
Point Zero: Ah, such a wonderful masterpiece. It starts out dark, and then gets even darker. It resembles the RHH opera themes, which I enjoyed. This is definitely a favorite for me as well.

Let the Stars Fall Down: Another favorite. I loved this one in the show, especially with the bird attack (is that the only time it was played in season 1? I thought it was during another scene, but I can’t remember.) The violins are nice and strong, and the vocals are just melt-worthy. Heh It has a nice tempo too, made me want to drive faster though. Lol Sometimes it sounds like Saber’s name is sung too.

Grief: A beautiful piano melody. Reminded me of KnK.

Nervous and Confrontation: Both kind of blah for me.

The Battle Is To The Strong: Ah, Berserker’s theme. So great. The violins remind me of venari strigas and some of the other Egyptian sounding ones. But the vocals are dark and creepy. It sends chills down my spine. I do enjoy the guitar solo as well.

Evacuation: Again kind of blah.

The Legend: I love the Celtic feel again. (Like with salvae, terrae magica.) It has a nice, earthy feel to it as well. (It actually reminds me a bit of serenato.

A Little Drop of Peace: A nice “peaceful” song to lighten the mood. Heh I really like the flute in this.

The Beginning of the End: This one actually reminded me of the Assassin’s Creed soundtrack at first, but then grew into a lovely string song. The violin is soft, which makes it even more beautiful I think, and the flute is a nice touch. One of my favorite slow ones. It has a powerful ending as well.
If You Leave: The strings are really beautiful here, almost brings tears to my eyes.

Rabble-Rousers, Strategy, Unrest: More kind of uninteresting ones. I was kind of looking forward to hearing how Rabble-Rousers sounded, but not that great.

Back to the Wall: A cool fight song.

Secret Maneuvers: The cello song that was used a few times. I like it but it’s nothing special.

An Eerie Enemy: I was hoping for this one to be interesting as well, but it’s kind of just a sound effect.

Assassin: I actually did not like this one at first, but the flute is kind of neat.

A Chaser: I like the drums and chimes in this one. Gives you the feeling of chasing someone.

To Be Continued: Aww, should have been longer, but I guess that goes with the title. Hehe

Painful: Another slow, piano tune.

Rule the Battlefield: This probably is one of my favorites out of the ost. It has that uplifting tone to it, and it’s so powerful. Even if there are no vocals, it’s still one of the best on there I think. And it’s going to remind me of Rider every time and make me smile. (It kind of sounds like a Gundam Seed song, which I love the music from that series heh Justice and Freedom for an example. And also a bit like Captain Harlock.) And I get that satisfying sigh after I listen to it, that is a good song.

Forebodings: Meh

Tragedy and Fate: The theme of the series again. I like it that it’s slow this time.

I would probably give this 1st ost an 8 out of 10. It does have some tracks that aren’t that great, but then there are some absolutely beautiful tracks. My favorites are: Rule the Battlefield, The Legend, Let the Stars Fall Down (awesome title btw), Point Zero, The Battle is to the Strong, The Beginning of the End, Grief and If You Leave. I hope that upbeat piano track is in the next one. Otherwise, great job, Yuki!

"Fate/Zero", drawing on "The Garden of Sinners" to reach greater heights

LOL Keep trying dear. You won't make it if the second season follows the same pattern of the first one.

edit: LOL The interview made me like KnK even more ;X

Regardless of what we think of this OST I think this was a pretty good interview. I was sort of bummed to read she originally composed faster tracks for the show and changed it all up after seeing the actual anime footage.

Figures Point Zero and the beginning of the end were actually scored to the footage. Certainly looking forward to more.

No mention of PV music, huh? Should've just included it on this CD so you could talk about it. =P

Indeed. Having left Bee Train, Yuki might have lost the freedom of composing, but now that the producers demand actual soundtracks from her, they at least tend to go with showing her what the show is supposed to be like. :XD: Makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the interview! :sohappy:

Thanks alot for the interview! :sohappy:

Oh so the track titles were made by ufotable even before the music is composed :ayashii:

@grunty: I was surprised, that in the interview says that in the battle between Saber Lancer and Caster was used "the beginning to the end" in episode 8 while it was actually used Point Zero. I wonder why.

Wait in episode 3 beach scene there was no 'rule the battlefiled' but a piano piece, is it me or the one who took the interview hasnt watch Fate/Zero at all and puts wrong tracks in the interview? :uh..: On the other side where it methions episode 3 (page 27) there are used 2 tracks 1 piano and rule the battlefield, while the interview methions only the later :@_@:

I do think by "track titles" they mean "Battle Theme #2" style descriptions like in Mashimo menues rather than actual "let the stars fall down" titles.

Well, now she is working as most composers do, so I actually prefer this, as far as soundtracks are concerned.

Well, when I watched the first episode it seemed pretty obvious to me that Point Zero and The Beginning of the End were done based on film scoring (that's why I liked Point Zero so much). Kajiura'll probably do more songs for F/Z with film scoring, probably songs from the very ending or last battles. Looking forward to them.

Actually it just occured to me that the extended Blu-Ray episodes could have a different sound mix than the TV cuts so who knows. One day I'll watch those.

A LITTLE TIP: they are using an unreleased BGM as menu music on the blurays. You can find the first disc menu in one of the torrents on TT.

let me list my favourites...
point zero, let the stars fall down, the beginning of the end, if you leave, rule the battlefield, tragedy and fate. I personally found the increased use of brass a fine improvement...

I've checked the menu music, it's quite nice. I think it's a glimpse into a full track from the next ost :) is the trailer included??

All discs have the same menu/music, AFAIK. I think it's a complete BGM, pretty sure it appeared in the show like this.

Screw what I said. The track appears in the first episode already and it's longer, lol. Or rather starts waay before the menu musicks.
