Fate/zero Original Soundtracks Vol. 1

is it me or rule the battle is the instrumental of the track the plays in the fight of ep 11 ? Me wants the vocal ver.

@ grunty: Oh i see :)

'assasin' has really nice flute :dote:

Finally, I was waiting for this. While a lot of the music sounds like pad/percussion, it's much better than I thought it did in the show.

My favorites are Point Zero, the battle is to the strong, the legend, back to the wall, and rule the battlefield.

Thank you, rishi!

Favorites: Point Zero, The Battle is to the strong, The Legend, The Beginning of the End, Rule the Battlefield and Tragedy and Fate.

Well...while there are some very good songs, whenever I think about the whole, it's lacking. Many instrumental tracks are forgettable and are very Kajiura-generic. I'm tired of "forebodings", it seems like there is always a song like this. Can't she create a different type of song to build up tension? Frustrating.

my favs

1. the battle is to the strong > first Yuki track after HnK with E.guitar playing in an opera track, such a nice combination of string chorus and e.guitar!
2. Point Zero > love the way this track builds up and its certainly very epic. Is it me or in the episode the male chorus has more males in ?

3. rule the battlefield > great instrumental, with rich strings and lots of epic feel to it, too bad the vocal version didnt came out now, strongly wish it does in OST II.
4. let the stars fall down > very nice strings melody, Hanae's vocals remind me of KnK 6 battle music.
5. the beginning of the end> mysterious Eri at the beginnig, strings, epic closing
6. assasin> great mysterious flute, kinda traditional japanese-like, I wish Hoshi no Utai has something like it as bridge.
7. the legend> love the combiation of the instrument that plays the main role in it (what is it?) and flute. This has to be the Rider theme.
8. evocation > powerfull percussion ftw.

Also confrontation has a nice army feel to it :XD:

:dote:

So battle theme wise we miss the vocal version of 'rule the battlefield' and the piano track :confu:

Followed by rule the battlefield cause its so unkajiura.

Why? :confu: It's grand and heroic and orchestra-driven, much like Shin Hokuto no Ken OST was.

evacuation has nice percussion, kinda reminds me the .hack SIGN days but I dont get why grunty thinks its the best of the OST.

Grunty likes tracks of this kind. :ayashii: Like Ghost Blood, Gradus Prohibitus...

I'm tired of "forebodings", it seems like there is always a song like this. Can't she create a different type of song to build up tension?

She can, and she did. Many of .hack//SIGN's main and extra tracks are good examples. But nowadays, no matter how popular her style is and how much artistic freedom she's given, nobody's ready to take and apply everything Yuki writes like Bee Train did. maybe because they don't rely on her music to drive the show to the audience as much as Bee Train did? :plot:

The era of Future Soundscapes seems mostly over, and Yuki works on soundtracks which demand both full-fledged themes and "evenly spread" balanced BGMs that the creators can insert into a scene without needing to adjust one to another. I also like explicit melodies and structures more than Forebodings and Umbra Nigras, but until the day Yuki works on a project which will adjust the animation to her music like in yer good ol' Noir/.hack/Tsubasa times, every OST she composes will inevitably have a portion of such tracks. Live with it. :tea:

2. Point Zero > mysterious Eri at the beginnig, strings, epic closing

Huh, so it marks the first time Eri and Yuri work on the same track? :ayashii: :sohappy:

evocation > powerfull strings ftw.

sure you're not confusing this OST with Petite Cossette? :XD:

Nick, please, I know very well that soundtracks need both full-fledged songs and BGM ones. My point is, NOWADAYS (maybe I should stress it with bold?) she doesn't know how to build up tension in other ways. Seriously, it is not a matter of using full-fledged songs, it's just that she always has that cello song with percussion or something like that for nearly everything. When you actually just listen to the song, it doesn't really bother. The problem is, when you actually watch or play whatever she is composing for, it really sounds as if everything is the same. Geez, I played Xenosaga and it seems like everything after it has the same mood when she uses this kind of song, when all works are obviously different from each other (I'm using Xenosaga as my standard because I became a fan of Kajiura with it).

And I'm living with it. I'm just making a negative feedback because this bothers me really much. If you can't accept a complain and just reply with "Live with it", don't even reply with such an obvious statement.

isn't it the track which is played at the end of episode 3?

somehow I am missing the track which is played in episode 4 between ~14:50 and 16:00? I think it was track 09 :(

^ Yes, thats the BGM I was refering to, imo its the vocal ver of rule the battlefield.

You are not missing it, it wasnt released it this OST.

hm.. imo the instrumental part of the track at the end of epi 11 doesn't sound like rule of the battlefield...

hopefully it will be released in Vol. 2 :uh..:

Ahh, I want to listen, but I am going to wait until mine comes. Which probably won't be for awhile. *sigh* But I was hoping for that upbeat piano track as well, it really isn't there? That stinks. The ost still sounds promising though. :dote:

Hm you are right it sound different...

we also miss the track that plays when Rider show his power of to Waver in ep 2, right?

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. There's nothing wrong with expressing negative opinion, perhaps it's me who's overreacting. It's just that some people nag so much lately, sometimes I'm urged to say, "Geez, folks, just mail Yuki about all these things, if you got it so bad". :XD: But I understand your concern as well. Even though I can't complelety agree with it - moody cellos are actually things that followed her career since old times (like Sorrow and all namesakes thereof). From my perspective, it seems like Yuki's actually been finding new ways of building up tension and conveying dark atmosphere - as seen in Pandora Hearts and KnK where it's all delivered via various SFX, and in MadoMagi and Fate/Zero that add up ominous percussion patterns (which didn't use to be that wide-spread across Yuki's music earlier). :ayashii:

Yep, as I mentioned above, the chariot theme.

The progressions don't sound Kajiura to me, I was thinking John Powell or the likes while listening. I can't really explain it.

Don't really think they have much in common, but yea, I liked those. I think Lost child is more like Gradus prohibitus on Pandora Hearts and I really like that one as well. :)

As for "let the stars fall down", I think the melody is pretty, but I fucking hate when tracks are built around key changes.

Well, I can't believe she/they include "rabble-rousers" and ignore other significant songs with Tokyo Konsei or fast-paced piano (slipstream-like).
I was waiting for 'the battle is to the strong' because of epic choir but the guitar bridge is awesome, better than in the show. 'confrontation' is one of my favorite, indeed. And 'let the star fall down' is the "new" one, right? Nothing special, nice but repetitive (this is rare to me, when I like a song I don't mind if it's repetitive o_O). And why 'to be continued' has vocals? The original yokoku hasn't! I want instrumental version ;_;
I think 'rule the battlefield' is nothing new; actually it's from the Rekishi Hiwa Historia palette. An formidable track with horn. Also 'tragedy and fate'.

Special mention for trailer music: thank you, Kajiura/Aniplex :)

And 'let the star fall down' is the "new" one, right?

not sure if you're kidding or simply don't remember (not that you're obliged to, really), but it's the theme playing when Iri confronts Kotomine Kirei with her binding bird. :XD: Unlike Grunty, I have a soft spot for key changes, and this track is really one of my faves here. :dote:

And why 'to be continued' has vocals? The original yokoku hasn't!

Indeed... maybe they threw in the yokoku from the second half? :XD:
But if you want an instrumental, that's what a good chunk of Point Zero is all about. :sparkleguy:

Special mention for trailer music: thank you, Kajiura/Aniplex :)

That's one complaint we all may share. :ohoho: Pandora Hearts had its awesome trailer music opening the first OST CD, for crying out loud! :wai:
On the other hand, there are a number of more BGM-ish tracks which are either from future episodes, or I've completely missed them playing in the released ones. :desksweat: :XD:

Kinda off-topic, but Rider is so epic that his theme is "The Legend". Truly awesome

If I heard correct, Yuki likes this character - and who if not her could be responsible for track titles? :groucho:
