Yuki Kajiura to compose for Zaregoto OVA

Wasn't PandoraHearts/Parallel Hearts after KnK..? :confu:

Yes but was last work with flying dog where she seemed to have alot of freedom.

Marchen huh ? I wonder if it will have any similarities with thr sound horizon work lol
So many years in Germany and yet she had to pic the same word as Revo lol

Not many melodies = knk style or full of sfx

Μany funny repetitions in this series so far:

1. director is again Akiyuki Shinbo and picks Kajiura Yuki
2. The Kalafina song is titled Marchen just like the Sound Horizon album
3. Aoi Yuuki who also did Madoka, plays the Blue-haired girl
4. Kajiura reports that the OST doesnt have many melodious tracks, just like Kara no Kyoukai, this time due to the lots of dialogues
5. Plot is detectivistic just like Bokumachi.
6. They changed the character designer from the novel to make them more cute, possibly aiming again to a 3rd episode twist ala Madoka

Yessss! New Kalafina song so soon! I hope it is dark as well, miss those types of endings, like Lacrimosa. Maybe she just wanted to use the title, and did not think of Sound Horizon's album at all. I know she is a can since they collabed together, but still. Maybe it just came to her. Had she been to Germany before? Anyways, maybe we'll get a Kalafina album early next year if they release a few more singles!

On her choice of a German title, I believe it can partly be attributed to the ending of the book...

The use of German in the novel has nothing to do with the plot though, just Nisio's wordplay (at least that's my interpretation).

Not many melodious tracks due to dialogue? I never would've guessed that NisiOisin would've had a lot of dialogue. Ever :ohoho:.

Here's the cast and characters. Got the VAs names from ANN, the character names from My AnimeList and the roles from the intro 1st page of the novel (before the story even starts)

Boku (me) (Tomo's escort) : Kaji Yuki
Tomo Kunagisa (Genius Engineer): Aoi Yuuki
Aikawa Jun (Ultimate Private Contractor): Yuko Kaida
Akane Sonoyama (Genius 1/7 Fools): Yu Shimamura
Kanami Ibuki (Genius painter): Ayako Kawasumi
Sakaki Shinya (Ibuki attendant): Kenji Hamada
Himena Maki (Genius fortune teller): Aya Endo
Sashirono Yayoi (Genius chef): Haruna Ikezawa

Handa Rei (Head maid): Houko Kuwashima

Chiga Hikari (Second oldest maid sister): Ryoko Shintani
Chiga Teruko (Youngest maid sister): Yuko Goto

still wising for a new character song with Houko Kuwashima, but with this minor role she got, i guess its unlikely, not to menthion Kajiura hasnt wrote any character song since MaiHime/Otome era :(

Technically Pandora Hearts started airing 4 whole months before the 7th and final movie of the original Kara no Kyoukai was released in theaters.
6. They changed the character designer from the novel to make them more cute, possibly aiming again to a 3rd episode twist ala Madoka
Eh? Is this based on the novel or just your overinterpretation? In case its the latter, why would you even? ;p

Its based, but for people who havent read the novel, its totally new, so if (i havent read it) is an event similar to what happened on that ep 3, some people will have an OMG reaction, i think.

And yes, Pandora Hearts was after most Kara no Kyoukai movies, but musically speaking, its closer to the works before KnK, while Knk seems to mark the style change which we see in the subsequent project soundtracks, main characteristics of which are the less vocals compared to the amount of tracks, the sfx-only tracks, and the strings storm.

If you ask me, i would say the Knk style would be better stay in knk and then she should had went back to the free style she had before that. But past is past, and even if it was present there wasnt much we could do.

I think you missed the point of my question. Since you've not read the novel, your comment suggesting "a twist" just because of "different character designs" (or vice versa) is silly. Or maybe your original post just has some unfortunate wording and I'm caring way too much...

It is weird. Hella weird. A bit philosophical at times, with lots of interesting characters - just Nisio being Nisio I guess?

It is mysterious, but I don't really feel sad while reading the books (but maybe that's just me I'm not sure)...the series begins as sort of a detective story (the first two volumes) but eventually has more action and superpowers (?) and all those good stuff :P
It does have some dark themes, and the protagonists' personalities are defective in many ways (they seem to have a dark past but what actually happened is never made very clear in the novels), which may be why Kajiura is chosen for the music?

Hope I haven't spoiled anything
Thanks for the description. I;m not at all familiar with Zaregoto, but I really enjoyed Katangatari. If this show can be anywhere near as fun as that I'll be happy. Oh, and the soundtrack for that show is awesome. Taku Iwasaki did a great job, so I hop Kajiura will deliver something just as interesting.

On the topic of the character designs, I think the complaints are overblown. I mean, they're cute on the website, but Shaft has done plenty of eerie and creepy things with Watanabe's designs over the years.
