Yuki Kajiura to compose for "Boku dake ga inai machi" TV Anime

Best case scenario, Kajiura surprises us with something totally new, but I think it's safer to expect something along the lines of KnK. That being said, I have high hopes for the sound direction. SAO-and FZ to an extent-had subpar music direction, but KnK's direction was amazing.
 
Well at least it's something.
I'm almost off the track for anime nowadays but will be looking out for this.

Sound Director: Iwanami Miwa. Does it ring any bells ?
 
Sound director for Baccano!, Panty & Stocking, Psycho Pass, Kill la Kill and JoJo, yet also did Deadman Wonderland, Fate/Zero and SAO? How odd. The former batch were very much on point with their music usage, yet the latter batch had... questionable timing sometimes (or a lot of the time, in SAO's case).
 
I agree with grunty that it goes both ways. direction and composer..

I also agree with george that if we see that Kajiura pulls it off, then SAO's failure was mostly on the director because we can safely assume that Kajiura is invested in the project judging from the manga fandom.

or we can just say to hell with it and hope for a COMPLETELY different project.
 
I going to have to disagree. I'm not saying Kajiura is untouchable, but a good sound director should be able to make a crap score sound fantastic.
 
^of course. but in this case, it really cuts both ways, imo anyway.

but my hopes are high on this one :) (for now)

Going by that... the consensus seems to be that Sound in SAO was "not fantastic" SO the score itself MIGHT have been "crap" as well, regardless of him being a good or bad sound director. :P Mind you I've not seen more than maybe 2 episodes of SAO.
PS. Sometimes you can't turn poop into gold.
PS2. Also going back to Seasonreaper's comment about Fate/Zero. I personally thought the soundtrack was very fitting to how boring the show was. :P

just read the manga, its on mangafox, and it really draws you in. I read 5 volumes in 2 days, and its now on vol 7.

PS: I sent some twits to YK, congratulated her for the new anime project as asked if she will be doing the character songs too, since its a nice change from all Kalafina, and i've loved the ones from aquarian age, noir, tsubasa, mai otome/hime, and gundam seed/destiny

^ They love making live versions lately, in the past it was alot more rare, but now they did for attack on titan, assasination classroom, and prison school among others... I guess its a way to keep the normal actors employed too ?

^VAs don't ring any bells for me, granted, the only VAs that I can name off the top of my head are Eri Kitamura (Sayaka in PMMM) and Ayako Kawasumi (Saber in Fate, Alice in Pandora Hearts).

The concept of the show seems interesting, and I have nothing to watch for Winter 2016, so I'll probably watch this. Judging from the CM, the score seems to be a mix of Knk and Madoka, with more influence from the latter. The score definitely has a lot of potential, but obviously that's just judging from a 30-second TV clip. Hopefully it lives up to that potential.

I agree! Kalafina has a 2 weeks break between lives in FOW live tour so they have a time for it! And Special Final is a great ocassion to sing new song!
