Yuki Kajiura LIVE vol.#21 - 60 Songs (July 26 - August 24, 2025)

Btw my post was for Kenji nor grunty.

I think Kalafina was disbanded because Kajiura left, Wakana decided to stay behind, and they didnt find another composer at that time. Meanwhile the current reunion is because WKH solo career sales are nowhere close to the old Kalafina sales, and maybe Keiko doesnt want spend her whole life doing backing vocals for Kajiura's music.

Try to be in Kajiura's shoes: You work 20 years with a girl and 15 years with the other one and you trust them and one day they decide to announce a reunion of the group you decided to disband without even telling you about it, and they work again with the people fron the other agency who caused you trouble (not refering to Wakana but the executives). How would you feel ?
I do try to understand her, but I also think she's old enough and has been in the industry for long enough as well to behave like this. As her fan, it is quite disappointing to see this level of immaturity and egos. I think she should be over all of these things, because she's been long enough working in this industry and she knows the game quite well by now.

I do believe the situation with Kalafina reunion was not well managed in the girls side, but Kajiura cannot intend to keep everything under her control. I think she could have understood better Keiko's wishes, also because they have been working for long enough. I do think Keiko owes more to Kajiura than the opposite, but I also think Kajiura should be a bit more grateful towards Keiko and try to understand her. Like, come on, even unfollowing them on twitter? It seems very childish, to be fully honest. I think there might still be a live concert Bray to be released where Keiko still participated... it feels all so wrong.

Honestly I feel quite sad about all of these situations lately. Since she left SC and has been working on her own, I have the feeling her performance has been mostly focused on doing lives and try to squeeze as much money as possible. I don't think she's released many memorable songs / albums since then. We all thought it would be for the better, but at least regarding her work... it feels mostly uninspired? With some exceptions, of course.

Maybe she's happier like this, and we should be happy for her but to be honest, my loyalty as fan is also fading away, as my interest on her as an artist.

Guys, I already stated that losing Keiko meant to unbalance the 4-vocalists tandem. I think Keiko is contralto (right?). LL is not the right girl to fix this...
This is why I said "Kajiura is mading a bad decision".

I disagree with this statement. I can see where you're coming from if we are only talking about songs/albums, but in my opinion, her soundtracks actually got better after leaving sc.

Nonetheless, I agree with your general sentiment. It feels like we've been getting nothing but bad news for a while now and being a Kajiura fan has therefore not been very fun recently. I'm a music nerd and generally do not care all that much about the personal lives of the people involved, not to mention about drama, but it is quite hard at the moment to not let any of this affect my enjoyment of YK's music tbh.

I hope everyone involved would just focus on making great music, make peace with themselves and the people around them, and most importantly forget about any "if you're not for me, you're against me" bullshit, if such sentiments are actually involved.

The thing is that we all know Kajiura or the girls only from their music, lives and promotional material and not their personality so we dont know if how they behave now is something normal or product of hurt feelings like betrayed trust or ambitions or inflated ego or idk. The whole japanese "tatemae - honee" doesnt help either to know them for real. Also some peoplec tend to love strongly but if their feelings are betrayed the love can turn into hate.

True! I think we really don't know much of their real personalities nor about what is really happening behind the scenes. The only thing we can judge is the music and live performances they produce/perform. Therefore, the only reason why I care about any of what's happening at the moment, is because of the effect all of this will have on the music-front.

Of course, if I knew any of these people personally, I would be emotionally involved to a different extent, but the reality is, I don't know them. Maybe I would get along well with Kajiura irl, but maybe I wouldn't. I like her music though, that's what counts. And I hope it stays like that.

You can try using this @Kugayama (and edit further to make it more pretty ;p) (remove my post regardless)

I think the 130.341% weird percentile width tags ruined the original copied table.

I just noticed the YK Staff twitter account also unfollowed Keiko and Hikaru... like come on... they even follow Hyde, that was pretty much a one time thing... it's quite disappointing and I think it's directly Kajiura's decision.... Very disappointing, I will miss her deeply. Keiko's voice through 'Kaze no machi e' was what made fall in love with YK's music... she was pretty much the one keeping the shows alive...

While I understand she kinda betrayed Kajiura (we don't know what kind of contract's they signed to bring back Kalafina), YK has been long enough in the industry to know how these things work and she was not doing anything with Kalafina anymore...

I think it's quite inmature on her side. Sorry for the Off-topic but I needed to join the collective mourning :(
To be honest, Keiko got what they did to Kajiura. Apparently, Keiko didn’t know she is not gonna be involved in th YKL #21. To those who will say Kajiura is petty, stop it. She was robbed of the opportunity to reunite Kalafina, a culmination of her dreams, and this was done behind her back. Kalafina’s songs contains a piece of Kajiura’s soul. They should have been more open to use Kajiura’s music.
Kajiura isn’t immature. She just gave what they wanted, an opportunity for Kalafina to bloom and for herself to have peace.

  • I saw it on the Kalafina thread, and felt immediately sad. Maybe Keiko asked to be released to pursue Kalafina? I don't know.
  • Spacecraft are the issue in this entire debacle and may have driven a wedge between the ladies and Kajiura.
  • Kajiura seems to have been forced to make this change, which I am sure she would not want to do, normally.

no Keiko or Hikaru or Rito so far (Maybe they re pregnant too
That lightened my mood a little. If only it were so...
How odd... why LL but not Yuriko?
Yuriko is the eternal session/studio vocalist.
I am excited for the new singers to be honest.
I am always curious to listen to new takes on existing songs. Unless they disappoint with subpar vocals...
All of this just screams petty from Yuki's side.
The issue I take is with immediately blanket-unfollowing them from both her personal and business accounts. That comes off as too heavy. I don't know what that SC president and others did or said to Kajiura, though I'm also not absolving her of personality flaws as well. It's all just a mess.
Guess the era of fixed vocalists is over.
Yuriko Kaida ain't going nowhere. She and Kajiura are sisters at this point. 🤣 "Kaida" and "Kajiura" sound a little similar (in English anyways).
I think Kalafina was disbanded because Kajiura left
Kalafina was disbanded because Keiko left and Wakana/Hikaru couldn't continue Kalafina without her, and there was no way forward. If Keiko had stayed (which some could have seen as "betraying" Kajiura back in 2018) SC would have moved Kalafina to a new producer and continued with Kajiura music since they had rights to it. It is Keiko that tipped the scales back then, so I imagine she would feel a bit betrayed too...
Also some peoplec tend to love strongly but if their feelings are betrayed the love can turn into hate.
So... You're saying Yuki Kajiura is actually Yuki Uchiha? 🤔

I have to be honest, guys. My heart sunk and now there's a slight numbness there regarding this entire debacle and the broken relationships...

I feel like I've been arguing for Kajiura's honour (mostly in my mind) and understanding everything mostly from her perspective, but I am also now feeling the hurt from Keiko especially, and a bit from Hikaru too. I have come to believe that Keiko was the closest and most committed to Kajiura emotionally, probably out of the entire roster of vocalists. I just got that general vibe from her reverence for Kajiura from the early days, and the strong decision to leave her own career (Kalafina) to follow Kajiura. That was still a rare act from her.

OK, this has also been in my head, but during the KajiFes Day 2, during the MCs, to me Hikaru felt a little stand-offish from Kajiura: she was facing/addressing the audience more than usual, and almost like she was steeling herself or carrying a more independent, self-assertive poise/stance, in my view. Maybe by this time, she was conscious that they were in talks with SC and planning their reunion, so maybe she was trying to feel less conflicted internally? I don't know but I do distinctly remember feeling a little curious about the vibe I was getting/observing.
I didn't understand what was being said so maybe I misinterpreted things. (P.S: Hikaru is still my favourite girl).

Honestly, I even felt a little strange about Keiko, including the interactions during Kalafina covers where in the moment I felt like she turned from Joelle a couple of times when it seemed like Joelle was looking towards her to reflect for those W/K duet section interactions. I kept asking myself, if they had rehearsed to do it and Keiko just changed her mind in the live, or if Joelle just expected it to happen and Keiko wasn't even thinking of that. On the other hand, Hikaru and Joelle were side-by-side and Hikaru interacted with her. I do know that Joelle tends to look towards the others at times. Maybe Keiko was saving her love for Wakana knowing they'd probably be singing those songs in the not-too-distant future.

At the other extreme is Kajiura and her principled stances - leaving SC to follow Mori (maybe some harsh words were exchanged with SC management, we don't know) with the fallout of the girls feeling that she essentially abandoned them being their mentor, when they were just getting close to reaching a decade as a reputable anisong group. They had no solo careers, but they had Kalafina and regular work/money.

I do feel that Keiko is a "ride-or-die" kinda girl. She rode exclusively for Kajiura once, but felt she had to ride with her Kalafina sisters instead this time...

please to refrain from using subjective terms like petty, ungrateful etc. without using proper evidence which is super hard to come by because people involved would have to spell it out.

"Yes I am petty because I hate Kalafina members for stabbing me in the back and I will exact my revenge" would be a great start!

but it seems there may be a rift forming between Kajiura and Keiko/Hikaru (we can safely say there is a professional rift between her and Wakana lol) . I will be sad to see Keiko go :(

after listening to Emilio Suzuki, it may be Kajiura's conscious decision to replace Keiko with her. She doesn't have the uniqueness of Keiko's voice but would cover Keiko's range well methinks.

but excited to hear new vocals ooohhhh!!

I was first confused why the 60 on her live title and realized it was about her upcoming (celebratory) age lol...

nothing to say about no Keiko as this was expected already. I like JUNNA, ASCA and KOKIA songs made by Kajiura so no complaints from guests from me. Surprised by the absence of rito tho as was seen from last year live, they can provide 6-man vocals so why not make it 5 main vocal then? :confu: But then technically budget must be tight since they also recruit chorus + solid guests (Assuming her lives were out of pocket-I really doubt Sony exclusively sponsors her?) or that rito has upcoming single with lives/promotions then it's understandable.
About Lino Leia....I'm still not fond of her main song/cover (Akatsuki no Kuruma/Organ in August) but I'm sold with her harmonizing for some odd reason(Voyagers/Kitchen). Soundtrack special with her as a vocal huh :ayashii:

When I heard the new vocalist I first thought "Why I feel like she fits Sawano type of vocals" then lo and behold XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxH4aMnlGSk
