I have differences in my version of the setlist...?

Writing it down here - was hard to write down stuff without enough light to SEE what you're writing, and even though I used very simple kanji, I'm surprised I can figure out my own handwriting of hiragana, romaji, english and greek...

That setlist seems pretty unbalanced. Eri got 6 songs, Emily 5, Yuri 3 and Hanae 3.

Overall, the setlist is kinda disappointing. There's barely anything new, and it makes me think that either Kajiura really didn't read the setlist suggestions (or we sent them to the wrong place, lel) or Japanese fans voted for songs they had already performed.
 
^ I think so too. practically only "Rainbow main theme" was new to the setlist and the See-Saw songs. :(

Well, I'm still hoping for a DVD. I personally don't like Emily (she is still great, of course, it's just that I don't like her voice that much), but it would be nice to watch her performance. A few new songs... Hmm... I'm looking forward to Remi, I miss her performances (and with Kaori backing her... so nostalgic). And Kasahara and Eri <3

I wouldn't mind not having Yuuka on the DVD, though. I can't like her.. I just can't. But Hikaru and Yuriko's harmonies are always good, so it should be okay.

Kalafina is... normal. Even if they don't release it, we will be able to watch those performances in the future XD

If they release something, I think I would buy after all :shy:

General impressions:
Everyone was AWESOME and FANTASTIC. Except Emily having issues reaching the hgh notes of old songs - she could but needed a falsetto and it sounded a bit irrelevant. But it's understandable I guess, even expected.

Wakana/Yuriko/Keiko/Kaori/Yuuka/Hikaru/Kajiura-san seemed more used to blending their voices together and practicing so they sounded like one. With the other singers the difference between the "guest" and the regulars was more noticeable. OK, I guess Kasahara and Emily are different categories each :XD: but still... :) It wasn't disturbing to the ears and didn't lower the amazingness of the whole concert - just something I noticed. If nothing else, it made it even more awesome that the girls are so good at singing together!

Personally I didn't mind the old setlist because it was my first live and it was like catching up with what I hadn't attended before. But I understand your feelings :uh..:

Has Uta been performed live before? I thought it hadn't...? And I don't remember Yasashii Yoake either...

BTW: is Hanae becoing a regular too? :XD:

Forgot to mention where Emily tried to learn in Japanese "I'm happy to meet all of you", and forgot it near the end, Kajiura san had to complete her :XD:

I can understand this. Being there is quite different than watching a recording (or reading the setlist, hehe). I felt the same way during the Anime Expo live.
 
Live started with Kalafina, so Sakurada was on the piano. Kajiura was not present in this segment. Her piano was pushed in only during Ordinary Sunset/Romance. Kalafina had the luxury of doing a bit of MCing, showing Keiko's dojikko side :XD: . After that, it was pretty much all Kajiura.

Throughout the live, singers and guest performers were moving in and out. They'd either come in from the back center section "like magic!" or walk in from the side. Not even the 4 FJ girls were on the stage all the time. When there's a song that only needs 3 of them, one would leave for the back stage, presumably to rest.

I personally enjoyed the parts that featured the 4 FJ girls more. They're so good at harmonizing together. I enjoyed the BGM pieces in the 2nd half more, though I wished they included Sis Puella Magica for the MadoMagi section. Even in Open your heart, the guests had solos while the girls sang together, but damn do they sound good. So totally in step with one another. Guest players had solos as well.

Ok, so I really enjoyed the 2nd half. Seriously, that Tsubasa medley was heavenly. Part 2 BD please.

Trivia-ish stuff and thoughts:
- Korenaga-san's hair looked a lot shorter to me. Shoulder length. He also sort of indicated that he had it cut during his introduction. (looks good imo)

- Keiko thought there were 3 floors, before realising there were only 2

- Keiko forgot Satou Yoshiaki's name, messed it up three times before Hikaru corrected her. Kept apologising after that. "I'm nervous!"

- Kajiura forgot... Satou Yoshiaki's name during the final segment where she introduced all 21 members

- Kajiura said Kasahara Yuri in Point Zero was amazing, she was like ... the last boss. "feels like there's no way you can win"

- Kajiura said she was very glad to have met so many wonderful works/series, they were all very interesting and that she likes them alot. She's happy to have people actually request for her. "I must have done something right in my past life to be able to meet so many great works/series"

- Kajiura remarked that for the first live, it was held in a small live house with a capacity of 500. She wasn't sure if she could fill 500. "Will people want to come to such a "maniac" (read: niche) live?" She's now holding the 10th live with 10x that capacity. Probably sold out, too.

- With the release of the vocal scores, everyone will now be able to know who sings what exactly and where. So, "those of you who really want to sing Kaori's part in Zodiacal Sign, no matter what, now you can!" *cue Kaori getting embarrassed a bit and laughing*

- Despite Kajiura saying that there won't be another live like this one, festival type with lots of guests and super long hours, the feedback form asks guests how they feel about it, whether they would want another. The options were:
"To have it in some form every year"
"To have it for anniversaries"
"Just this once"
"Others: ____"

- There were a lot of ladies in the audience in my section. Generally quite balanced, gender wise, if not favoring the ladies, much to my surprise

- There wasn't enough mics for everyone in Open your heart, so some of them had to share. In the final parts where they all sang together, Wakana shared with Yuuka, Yuriko Kaida with Asuka(?), Keiko with Remi(?), Kaori with Hikaru. (sorry, forgot who Asuka/Remi was with. 50/50!). The others had their own mics. Aha. The sight of them sharing one mic, putting their faces so close together... *is slapped*

- The watches sold out first (red and white, followed by black)

- By the end of the day, everything was sold out except for the pamphlet and the trump card set

- The FictionJunction name was used because
1) The songs aren't sung by Kajiura herself so it would be weird to put her name to it
2) The songs aren't made for a particular singer either, so it would be weird to put their name to it too (so "Calling" was made for Kaori?)

- Is Kajiura inviting Remi only to have her sing a non-SAO song a sign that she intends to use Remi more in the future? Yes, please. I personally think it's a sign that she likes Remi's voice. Invite her to the family!

Wow, thanks for the reviews already. I wish I could have gone, it really would have been an awesome birthday celebration. heh I want to hear the new Kala songs (wish they would have sang obbligato) and Alone, Crush (one of my favorite Kajiura songs of all time) and voices silently sing. I do like Emily but I think I like her older songs from .Hack the best. Also, I think Luminous Sword was in there, but why not more? Hopefully next time. :dote:

In that paper I would answer "to have it in some form every year" since:
1. It would be good for revising the previously done lives of all her projects, and 2. a live BD out of them would be much more preferable than 1 guest per BD style, since it would have most BGM songs sung by the original singers (who are, with exception of Yuriko, vocally more experienced than the 4 girls) 3. It would force Yuki to stop recycling too many old songs.
