i think i'll not name my daughter Yuki....
it's a too common name in hong kong.....
and people pronounce it like English...
i like the japanese pronunciation....

yeah, theres lots of male yukis in animu
but the problem is that real one >_< whenever i tell someone about i like "yuki kajiura"'s music, they always think i'm talking about that guy who is apparently more famous T_T

Whenever i tell someone i like Yuki Kajiura they think about the Yuki in Gravitation ^_^; ...because most of the people i tell this to are anime lovers XD

Well, in my case there's no misunderstand, 'cause in spanish we have so many diferences in the genders...

So I say "Yu Kajiura es una compositora japonesa que..."

The word "compositora" has the gender... female in this case "compositor" is in male
:ayashii:

How many differences in genders can you have ? As far as I know in the most languages they are either separated into male and female, or male, female and neutral or they are not separated at all.

the irritating situation is when a language has no articles so in order to remember the gender of each noun you need to learn (the gender) by heart :twitch: and I dont like that :comeback: (this happens in latin)

Spanish has artcles to show the gender. And endings, too. And the adjectives to come with the noun often have the same ending. Much like in Belarusian and Russian, actually.
In the latter languages, trouble arises when you start using different cases (Russan has 6 of them and my language has almost 7!)
For example, the Genitive case (which is formed by apostrophs in English) takes a different ending. It wouldn't change the ending for Yuki, cos' the word is still new. On the other hand, when you first mention it to someone in the Genitive case (like "Yuki Kajiura's albums"="al'bomy Yuki Kadziury", and people automatically transform the word into the nominal case, and rest assured that the name was... Yuka Kajiura :omgwtf: :twitch: )

Nick...what do you mean ALMOST 7? XD You got 6 & 1/2? haha. 6 & 3/4 ? :D
Well, in romanian we also have the default 6...just like all romance languages. And to talk a bit about the interesting genitive case that Nick mentioned, ours is formed with articles corresponding both to the gender and number of the object being possessed in front of the actual object word and another article attached to the end of the word corresponding to the possessor's gender and number XD,...or something like that. The dative case is somewhat similar but i hate to talk about grammar. I never actually learned all of that. haha.

Edit: Well, a fairly fascinating new topic in a topic about naming your daughter Yuki, i'd say. :ayashii:

Yeah, sure. :XD: But grammar might concern all those potential problems the child would have to face.

Wow, so many different patterns of Genitive case forming in different languages :ayashii: Hey, just dawned upon me - Japanesу uses a similar pattern with Spanish, only reverse :XD: :XD: :XD:

As to Belarusian, I meant the so-called Vocative case (a special inclination to address a person). Ancient Russian had it as well, Modern Russian does not. Belarusan has preserved vocative case, though it's not commonly used now and only studied by linguists rather than in schools. That's why I said ''almost'' :bwahaha:

Aaa, i see. Well, we have the Vocative to...but it's as common as bread :XD: An case that we (romanians) - at least - use the Accusative in stead of is the Ablative. It existed in Latin. We've found a way around it :XD: As i'm sure most (if not all) other romance languages have done...

Haha. If only the child would knew the grammar of all of these languages ... :dote:

huh? everyone is talking about his language? XD

in german we have:
3 genders (male, female, neutral)
4 cases (nominative, genitive, dative, accusative)
~10 ways to build the plural XD
A LOT of irregular verbs

:sohappy: :XD:

ahhh nick hunter the language specialist is teaching us his exclusive knowledge :dote: that is so cooooooooool
