Yuki Kajiura Live vol.9, Japanese only concert

it's been years since the last time I watched this live, and omg Kajiura was really loud in her playing in Mizu no Akashi. Either it was because she was emotional/intentionally played it that way for the song or it was because Wakana was vocally awful because Kajiura played like she was pissed lmao... 2012 was Wakana at her lowest and I remember thinking she wasn't that bad back then... when in reality she was that bad XD
Watching the unedited version really exposed the vocal issues in that concert...

i have a dream - Kalafina

perfect example of Kajiura's bias towards Wakana sometimes clouded her judgment because giving her solo for the whole first part of the song is a crime, especially when Keiko sounded 100x better than her singing those exact same melodies.

I think she was quite enamored of Wakana's tone (which was unique, surely). Her high notes rang with that timbre (her voice was doubled on the "asagakuru" of the chorus 🤔).

Hikaru's take on the verse was fragile/breathier and softer (but her soft high harmony with Wakana on the chorus second time around is always delightful to me).

Keiko's voice was robust and weighty on her take of the verse melody.

Wakana got the "megumi" appellation first I believe due to the bias you mentioned (Kajiura later spread that particular love to Joelle and Yuriko in more recent times.) Maybe that's why Kajiura was harder on her because she had higher expectations of some sort.

One of their songs I really like especially the live version I've heard. I would REALLY like to hear this sung live by FictionJunction vocals...!
