Waiting for Kalafina 2nd album, Red Moon

I just heard some songs, Red moon seemed wonderful to me, TETOTETOMETOME reminded me a lot Tsubasa, charm me, I just heard fantasia and I like it. :shy:

I think this record has a very different air having Seventh Heaven, I really like the turn gave Yuki Kajiura. :ayashii:

Now hear the rest :dote:

It looks like, I'm the only one, who bears until the end and doesn't download it. :ohoho:

Nope, you're not the only one. I'm waiting, since I want to have new songs to listen to. And now it says sent! I'm refreshing the usps site a million times now. Hoping it will come tomorrow, but I doubt it. *sigh* :XD:

All the new album songs are amazing :nosebleed: :dote: :dote:

the only thing I didnt like was in TETOTETOMETOME the parts they were singing with computer changed voices

So after listening to this for the whole day, I think my thoughts remain unchanged so here's a repost of what I typed out earlier.

IMHO
Kajiura: "Damn, I made these cool middle-east BGMs but I'm probably never going to use them in any anime... Orite, Kalafina! Just have to cook up some additional harmonies."

And thus Red Moon was born.

It's cool to have so many Keiko solos, but the songs really go nowhere. At the start of almost every new song I thought it would be great, but then they just dragged forever, without ever climaxing or anything.

There's sure no excitement like ongaku, love come down or mata kaze here.

There's also so much Yuriko it feels like FictionJunction at times. intermezzo is probably the best track here, lol.

Maybe on 2nd listen...

Some additional comments:
  • The last minute of red moon is absolutely epic. Shame there's no real impact from it since the last 5 minutes already were constantly loud just for the sake of being loud and dramatic. For a track that is somewhat similar in concept but incredibly superior in execution I recommend checking out Akiko Shikata's "VII" (Sette). That track is constantly building up, not just hitting you with a wall of strings and vocals from the start.
  • Lack of any epic Kajiurago. Everything feels safe. I still remember the grin on my face when I first heard Wakana's solo in Ongaku... eh... Nothing like that here.
  • I love how that Waltz track pointed out above proves my point on the girls singing over Kajiura instrumentals rather than being an integral part of the songs.

As for my "Wakana can't sing" comments, for which all the Chinese speaking fandom seems to be sending me to hell... well, until I see a TV performance or bootleg recording where she doesn't suck... Yep, my opinion still stands.

Well, after full hearing, I must say that my love for Kalafina has grown, Red Moon is a masterpiece of a delicacy, really loved it, the entire album really liked me a lot, maybe not have that touch rocker that Seventh Heaven, I think it's much calmer, but still having the touch of Kalafina. :dote:
I'm really very compliant. :ayashii:

Critical analysis by Kizuato*:

3. TETOTETOMETOME: Love. It. Is it middle eastern? Am I using the correct words? But Keiko's voice and this type of music.... so upbeat.... I end up moving around.... I might start dancing to my surround sound once my Album gets here.....
4. fantasia: I was a bit nervous at first w/ the intro, but later it transformed into a really nice song. Reminds me of a sort of Anime OP Theme..... I don't know xDDD Especially when Hikaru comes in. Love the key-change. I like this song :shy: @ George: Maybe THIS is the opening for Nobunaga no Yabou? I'm just guessing based on my impression of it being an Anime OP xD
5. Haru wa Ougon no Yume no Naka: Nothing to say. Another Sapphire. Not attracted to this at all.
6. Kyrie: It was dark.... but at the same time really lured me in... Lack of better words-- I felt like I was being seduced by their voices >__>
7. Yami no Uta: Started out really nice and orchestra-y. XD Beautiful violin playing, might I add ;) When Keiko came in.... Oh my fucking god....Excuse me for my language... but the POWER BEHIND KEIKO...... OH MY GOD.
8. Hoshi no Utai: I really don't understand why Hikaru just JUMPS in out of NO WHERE. Nonetheless a nice song. (Not much comments on this one >_>) I like Wakana's voice in this. It was..... rich.
9. storia: Sorry. Doesn't go w/ the theme of this album. Love it though!
10. Intermezzo: So sweet... and cute. Like .... a lullaby for a small child... T__T I agree with Grunty. This has got to be one of the best things on the album. Hikaru's voice in the beginning with that muffled effect was so sweet.... mixed with Wakana's thick and powerful voice..... just pure love. "...kiss me" Just... omg. Love.
1. Red Moon: I'm sorry. It's the featured song in this album. But... Not enjoying it that much. Although... it does have that sort of Harry Potter magic thing going on.... who knows. Maybe when I start listening to this on my CD a lot I'll fall in love with it ^_^; || Love keiko's yelling at the end though
End Note: I feel like this album really showed the girls using power and passion, where as in Seventh Heaven they showed their nice, angelic sides to their wonderful voices. This album had more of an oriental feel to it.... I like it ;)
