I got this idea from the "seasonal topic". There are some songs that we fall in love with them almost immediately, but obviously, the contrary also happens. So, what are the songs from Kajiura in general that took you some time in order to like/love them?

Also, here's a question: do you think the problem lied with the song or rather with you?

Some of these songs for me would be oblivious and sprinter, at first I thought oblivious was too techno-ish (didnt like the beginning) but the it grown on me and now I even have it as ringtone in my mobile phone :XD:
About sprinter I was founding too chaotic and that they were singing too fast. But after I heard the instrumental in the fairytale single I fell in love for it :dote: I think its obvious form that I said above that they problem lied within me. :ayashii:

snow falling, Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Iku, seventh heaven... :sparkleguy:

Yep, the problem was me. But I'm a walking problem, so, that's okay. :ohoho:

Sprinter: My very first Kalafina song. I thought it was just really weird and had issues distinguishing the members' voices. I looped the song repeatedly to remember the melody, and I suppose it was the endless looping that caused it to grow on me.

Sprinter was the song responsible for making me a Keiko fan, although that preference has also changed since then.

Ashita no Keshiki: I didn't like it at all the first time I heard it, and used to skip it all the time. But I got tired of my most-played songs one day and listened to it. To my surprise, I found that my opinion had completely changed.

The melody of the verses were probably the biggest reason I didn't bother giving the song a chance. I still don't find the verses very enjoyable, but I just deal because I'm waiting for the awesomeness sandwiched in between them.

I think the problem almost always lies with the person and not the song. I mean, the song doesn't change. Whether you love a song or not depends on your perceptions of it. :ghost:

Shouldn't it be "love at first listen" since technically you hear the music? :confu:

But anyway, most if not all kalafina songs grow on me eventually. Seventh Heaven, Eden, Hikari no Senritsu, magnolia, in your eyes, etc.

Rarely is a song a hit with me on the first listen. I would say its my personality. I criticize alot of things, but when I do find favor in something I tend to be biased on how great it is :XD: In particular Yuki Kajiura and Kalafina. I love their stuff even songs that may be a tad repetitive or lacking.

The message was given, so let's leave it as it is (even thought it should be as you say) ;X

I think... aikoi. I was really surprised/turned off the first time I heard it but I started considering it one of Kajiura's best songs really fast.

And I still do to this day. :)

Nohara. When I heard it for the 1st time I didn't like it, because at that time I wasn't fond of listening dark slow songs. But in a while Phila posted their cover of this song and I fell in love bith with the cover and the original song.

Yakusoku and Akatsuki no Kuruma. I forgot about them after listening to Yuuka's albums but I loved them after watching the live.

That's all I remember for now

For some reason, everything that Kalafina releases. I've never completely fell in love with a song from them after hearing it first.

I went through my favorites and came up with the following. Sorry for length

Love Come Down is one of mine. I disliked it from the very first listen, and I kept on disliking it until I heard the live version and realized: the song isn't bad, just the guitar! I love the live, but not the studio, because of Nishikawa.

Mata kaze, too. At first the bass really hurt my ears, and I thought it was rather overwhelming hard rock. Eventually my horizons broadened, and apparently I had some minor hearing loss (or maybe the change in headphones helped?), because now I think it's awesome and the bass doesn't bother me anymore :XD:

With Ongaku, I had a similar experience to Love Come Down. I didn't particularly love the studio version, but when I heard the live, I realized that despite the fact it's a little bit of a plain song, it's actually really fun.

Ashita no Keshiki never grew on me...but I suppose I shouldn't mention it here, because I still don't like it :spotlight:

I wasn't impressed with Kimi ga hikari at the beginning, but now I can hear more of the emotions underlying the song.

I thought Haru wa was very, very depressing when I first heard it. As usual, it took listening to the live (and that heart-breaking solo violin) to change my mind.

Kugatsu...well, I'm still not that wild about it, but I found that I really enjoy playing it on the piano :plot:

I had a complete change of heart on Mune no Yukue, believe it or not. I didn't hate it at first, but I wasn't impressed. Now, though, I'm grooving to the chorus and everything :XD:

At first Tasogare no Umi was kinda loud and shrieky for me. Thankfully, there's no Nishikawa solo in it, so it grew on me gradually. Now I love it so much I'm planning to sing it at AB '12 :dote:

I remember starting to listen to Inca Rose and being completely bored. Somewhere along the line, something changed, and I fell in love with it. It's one of my favorite Kajiurago songs now. Mostly because of Koichi-san's beautiful solo...

Same for (We Are So) Together. I listened to it, was completely discouraged by Saeko Chiba's voice, and then listened to it again and thought it was lovely, sad, wistful...

Senya Ichiya kinda freaked me out at first, but once I got past the weird arrangement, I started to like it, and I love the chorus especially now.

I wasn't that wild about Sis Puella Magica at first, although I did like it. But now...now it sticks in my head at random points of time :XD:

What was disconcerting about The Moving Era for me at first was Yuri Kasahara; basically, I didn't like her voice at all because of her heavy vibrato. Now I've gotten used to it in most songs, and The Moving Era especially sticks out for me because of how epic it is.

I have to admit that Jubilee has grown on me. I'm used to Eri's sound in it, and I just enjoy how fun it is.

Didn't like I Swear at first. Still don't love it, but I'm more acclimatized to it and it's a catchy melody.

The first time I listened to Everytime You Kissed Me, I remember giving up completely about 30 seconds in, but I forced myself to listen to it in its entirety when Fiction II came out. I really love it now, and I love playing it on the piano. Especially Morio's bass :ohoho:

I probably shouldn't mention Hitorigoto either, because I still don't like it :spotlight:

My Green Park at first was just very bland and boring. Now I listen and think to myself, "Hey, Nishikawa certainly can arrange pretty well." :ohoho:

Hoshi ga Tokete I found extremely depressing. Unfortunately I still do, but now I like listening to it despite that...

For me, most songs are not love at first sight. I mean, it's more of a newsflash-worthy event if I do fall in love with a song with a first listen. xD Sure, there are many songs that make me think "Okay, this will definitely grow on me after a few more listens" and that does happen a lot.

Anyway, I'll just mention a couple of Yuki cases that stood out to me.

sprinter: At first listen, I didn't really pay any attention and I found it immediately forgettable. But on second listen... BAM! Something clicked. And it's been like that ever since.

seventh heaven: My first thoughts were that it was a boring ballad like many before it. However, after I had listened to it some more and learned its structure, something clicked again and a certain part within the song had me in tears. It took me a long time to be able not to cry while listening to the song, and I still cry when I'm in the "right" mood or when I'm singing that part. So yeah, that was very unexpected, even by my own standards. (Okay, it's been 2 years and I just got teary-eyed listening to it. Maybe it has a certain "healing" ability that works on me. T^T)

Also, I think snow falling has started growing on me after a few listens, even though I thought it was really boring at first.

Hmm for me some are Aikoi, I Swear, Seventh Heaven.there are some Yuki songs that didn't appeal to me at first.

do you think the problem lied with the song or rather with you?
I say it depends on the listener's preference in music, but as for me there are songs that grows on me eventually, and mood is another factor.

For me it was lacrimosa by Kalafina. My first encounter deeply with Kajiura-sensei works actually is in Pandora Hearts (I watched Mai-Hime,Tsubasa Chronicle as well but I don't know it was kajiura who composed the songs on those animes). I really fall in love with Parallel Hearts by FJ, but later I realize it was Silly-Go-Round with a bit change... . I googled about FJ and found that 2 vocalists of FJ (Wakana and Keiko) is in Kalafina too. Then I download all Kalafina's songs and listen to lacrimosa first because it is ending theme for an anime I know, which is Kuroshitsuji. When I hear lacrimosa, I feel this song is kinda weird and the chime-thingy on Kajiuran part really disturbs me. So I left all Kalafina's songs and one day I listen to oblivious and then I fall deeply in love with Kalafina.

And then Akatsuki no Kuruma, But I shouldn't mention it because until now I still don't like it.

Stone Cold by FJ too, because at first I found this song is so repetitive from beginning to ending, but later I love this song, especially Wakana and Keiko's chorus part.

Gloria is just simply too plain for me. But later I really love Hikaru in this song and I love to play this on piano :XD:

sprinter too, because the other KnK ending songs have dark-aura around it but this one starts with up-beat electric guitar but later I really love this song, especially the "naite, sakende kiete yuku bokura wa.."

Really? I never saw them that way...the format and arrangements of the songs are similar, but the chord progressions and melody lines are totally different, at least in my opinion :confu: Plus I find the mood of each song to be different, too...

I also forgot to add Salva Nos (live) to my list. When I first heard it, I thought it was really bland until the bridge, but after a few listens I ended up finding it catchy all throughout. The guitar solo helped too, of course. :ohoho:

^The chord progression and the melodies is total different, but I feel the same mood of the two songs so..........................
And the song structure is somewhat same to me. Wait, I have to listen to those 2 songs again now.

Salva nos live too for me. Sorry ninetales, but the guitar part (especially where Koichi-san play in the end) really disturbs me. Even my friend who watched the DVD with me say "Who is this uncle playing guitar? It just destroys the mood I have from this song! Too-show-off. I'd rather have that violin player to have solo. He is quite cute too...But this long-haired uncle... :uh..: " ---> She really said this.

Kalafina's Seventh Heaven! It was slow and ballad-ish so I didn't enjoy it at first. It took several listens (this time with earphones) to feel the song being more powerful. Problem probably lied with me. o.o This happens a lot... but I usually fall in love with a song I didn't enjoy at first the moment I put on earphones! There's much more to hear through earphones. o-O

I have to add Kugatsu now. I really love Wakana's part. Unlike other that live Hikaru's part than Wakana's part, I really love Wakana and Keiko's part. It just so grace, soft, but mysterious (?). Hikaru's is just sounded too happy for a really sad song like this one.

For me, it's in your eyes. in the first place, I don't really like this song,
But when I heard it over and over again, I like the phrase "in your eyessss" and I can't stop listen to it now.

I kinda agree...actually, when my friend listened to it, she said the same thing. The solo is completely different than the mood of the song. In some ways, I love it separately from the song, because both of them can stand on their own without the other :ayashii:

I love the 'uncle' thing :XD:

That long-haired uncle is cute too, but I agree that solo is out of place in this song
