Rekishi Hiwa Historia OST II

Few new BGMs (I think), symphonia as ED (oh, my old closing theme for historia is now historia) and no-Kaori. RHH is dissapointing me, this is boring >:(

It might be like that but for the new track, I dont find any connection with tsubasa, apart from the fact that Eri sings it. Anyway, I am personally ok the those tracks sound tsubasa-isah because that OST was one of the best of Yuki IMO.
Yep..I see your point.. I also love Tsubasa's tracks and Eri's singing, and think that it's one of the best Yuki's works. But I accept that PH ost made me a bit disappointed... , even I like it...(ok...it's like the fact that I like Symphonia, but still not satisfied with its repetitive melody..:rain:.)

By the way..I agree that this new track from Eri is so promising... :dote: .

All the disappointing moments about PH soundtrack stem from this being... a soundtrack. :ohoho:
Let's face it, Yuki's works for Bee Train spoiled us beyond the impossible. Alas, to our discontent, not every director may be willing to order a whole album of full-fledged songs to play in the background.Whatever kind of OST Yuki produces, it fits the show just fine (unless some tracks are later misplaced). Before you want to hear another OST-album like Noir or Tsubasa Chronicle, you should wonder if Yuki actually gets the freedom, inspiration and purpose to make it this way. Future Soundscapes are full of masterpieces just a bit short of standing on their own. Most KnK tracks, on the other hand, would HARDLY pass for hit singles - but both examples remain perfect soundtracks nonetheless.

^ It goes even beyond that. Let's take the KnK example. It's a series of 7 movies + one epilogue. All of the movies are extremely coreographed, hence the songs are small because all of them fit in one specific scene (it doesn't matter if Shiki's theme playes in all the movies with the second one being the exception, it still has changes in its arrangement in order to fit another scene). Hence, depending on the media Kajiura works on, the songs will be different as well (just as Xenosaga had Creeping Into as song because it was used for a "dungeon").
Anyway, she's a composer and she's gonna work like that. Her first job is to create songs that will fit in the series she is working on. If we want to call it art or want the songs to be like in the Bee Train era, well, in a sense it's our problem. It's a pity that some directors simply don't know how to USE her songs (Pandora Hearts) in the series.

Bee Train had similar problems occasionally. Most obvious with Tsubasa Chronicle 2. Aikoi played several times, but never really approriate for the scene. Masquerade - a very fancy song - played once, so short and quiet as if they didn't really want to use it in the first place. And on the other hand, we got several tracks that somehow didn't make it into the albums despite being just as good (although some justice was latetr done to Tsuki no Shijima). Of course, the second season was pretty messed up in itself, so... :ohoho:
In general, I'll say it again: while not all of Yuki's music is at one level, what makes her a great composer is the OVERALL quality. Whether she invents a new approach or recycles a melody pattern, whether she creates a mind-blowing masterpiece or a semi-SFX track to emphasize the scene it plays in - what she does really sounds good. She remains high above A LOT of other Japanese or Western composers. She's got a talent and she knows how to use it.
But of course, every fanbase tends to grow unpleasable with time. We fans who know what she's capable of achieving will always ask for more and be grunty about failed expectations - which are pretty much pumped up as of today. :XD:
For now, my expectations are also high - for Madoka (due to the quality of Yuki's previous work with Shinbo) and for RHH2 and Fiction II (due to the quality of previous installments). :shy:

I've gone through many fandoms in which the same thing occurred, so I'm quite accostumated with that and see it as a normal cycle.
About the use of her songs, I remember that I got tired of both Salva Nos and Canta Per Me because of its repetition throughout the series (not to mention the beginning of Melodie that played EVERYTIME. Gosh). Maybe that's because I like when OSTs are well used that I prefer when the song is well used, even if the song itself isn't so fantastic. I like to think of the work as a whole rather than something isolated.

One of anime with her work that I actually fancied is only Mai-HiME. :tea:

^ I almost dropped Mai-HiME with only one episode :XD: Now I'm gonna wait a long time until I get to watch it again.

A lot of people dropped it after watching abt 4, 5 eps or less :XD:
But believe me, continue to watch it. You won't have to regret. It's my #1 anime all time.

Eh, I think if you dropped My-HiME after 5 episodes it's a fair drop. That's coming from someone who finished it.

just listen to symphonia. if there's no narrator's voice there, I'll obviously made it my before-sleep-time song. although is boring. Love it maybe it's just because Keiko got solo part there~~~ :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: *snapped

My problem was the characters. The way they behave was so forced that I had to leave it on hold. But don't worry, I'll finish it, it's just that I had already started many series at the same time.
