No it doesnt have villain of the week.
You can watch it from here:

The sum up of the episode is:

spoiler below

Madoka sees a nightmare where there is Homura fighting something, and the sceneray is destruction and darkness, then she talks with the Kyubey creature whom she tells her she can change the situation if she becomes a magical girl. Then she wokes up, eat, and goes to school together with Sayaka and some other girl. At school surprisingly Homura gets introdused as transfer student and Madoka has a "wft?!" face. Homura turn out to be super good in both maths and P.E/ Then Homura asks her to get her to the nurses room but it seems she already knows Madoka's name as well as where the nurse room is. At the way to the nurse Homura tells her to no become something she isnt if she cares about her precious people. Then Madoka, Sayaka and the other girl go to a mall and have fun (Homura is not with them), the other girl leaves because she has some lesson to attend to. Meanwhile Homura is shows to be chasing Kyubey to kill him. Then the 2 go to the CD listening section of a store and while Madoka tries a song she hears Kyubey calling her for salvation. Madoka leaves to find him, and Sayaka follows her. Madoka enters a dark room and Kyubey falls from the roof injured and Madoka gets close to it. Then Homura appears and tells her to go away. Fortunately Sayaka sprays her with firefighting foam and then they run away. Then the scenary turns into a scary illusion and in a while Mami saves both after getting transformed to magical girl mode. Homura leaves. Kyubey asks both girls (Madoka and Sayaka) to becomes magical girls.

Thanks, George! I've watched it on Youtube, but the subtitles were a mess most of the time. :XD:
What to say? The show looks very intriguing and very Shinbo, which alone hits the mark for me. And the OST... :dote: All I heard has a good potential to stand alone as album tracks, but [Akemi's theme] track and [Mami's transformation] track get special credit for being pure unfiltered awesomeness in my ears. And there's also Magia which electrocuted me almost to the extent Hikari no Senritsu did. In a way, it has [not semblance to, but] the power of Edge and Lacrimosa combined! :nosebleed:
I'm definitely diving into this series. Headlong.

I love the soundtrack so far. (Just watched the episode) Especially the flute one where Akemi's being introduced (sounded very Spice and Wolf to me) and Mami's transformation, as Nick said. :dote: I can't wait until the ost has been released. The animation style is unique, I like it. Next week we'll get to hear and see more! :dote: I want to say good job to Yuki as well. :sohappy:

The music was amazing. As for the anime... *sighs* I've never liked and I think I'll never ever like this kind of anime :desksweat:

Now this show will definitely gone dark, won't it?!

If the first three minutes of the episode weren't suggesting it enough... :psst:
What if Kazumi turns out to have gone to the Dark Side and then appearing in the anime as the actual "witch"? :ayashii: :plot: :plot:

cute tweet from Kajiura about the title of episode 2 :dote:

まどか☆マギカ第二話のサブタイトル「それはとっても嬉しいなって」をプチ流行らせた今日のスタジオ。例文:「あ、コーヒー入れてくれたら、それはとっても嬉しいなって。」「もう一度頭から聞かせてくれたら、それはとっても嬉しいなって。」そんな風に第二話を楽しみにしてみるのでした。

Sorry for asking if it was already mentioned in this thread, but what kind of theme is the BGM? Is it as Maha previously mentioned "childish", or is it kind of like Kara no Kyoukai? :nosebleed:

Its closer to Kara no Kyoukai but 1 of the tracks was close to childish but I it was really energetic and I liked it :dote:

Since we have only the first episode as reference, I think it is difficult to establish which kind of theme the BGM is. For now, I would say that it surely isn't KnK but it's not childish either.

May I ask why you think that it is closer to KnK?

Depends on the definition of childish. If you mean tracks like Run! Cat! Run! or Naughty, I have yet to hear any here. Madoka's ordinary life is accompanied by mild guitar and flute, darker scenes sound darker, but the tracks are clearer-shaped than in KnK. The two keypoints of the episode are Akemi's theme with its Celtic mood and the transformation epic featuring Hanaru. Her voice tempts one to compare the song to Mai-Hime themes, but IMHO they have little in common.

As closer to Knk I thought of the music during the illusion and the transformation one while as childish close Madoka time with the frineds while going to scholl as well as Homura's theme which probably isnt close to childish as I thought

An energetic childish track? Must have missed it. Did it play during the teacher's speech?
About KnK - it might not be safe to label all dark ambient themes as such. These are pretty useful AND used in soundtracks, and in Yuki's case you can trace them back to Double Cast, if you care. KnK's main features stemmed from Yuki's desire to create the "boundary of emptiness" atmosphere, which led her to experiment with "music without melodies". The latter actually got more melody-driven with every movie, but overall KnK remains unique.
The flute song that accompanies Madoka & Co on the way to school doesn't sound childish to me. It's just mild and easy-going. Liminslity had a number of songs like this.

Exactly. I was even going to say "I don't remember noises in the Madoka OST" lol

Hmm... It's closer to Mai-HiME since I immediately felt very familiar about the BGM. :XD:

I'm more interested in knowing what is Kyuubey's intention of making everyone Mahou Shoujo because he doesn't seem to be on the good side IMO. :ayashii:
