Well, if Konno-san plays it on the violin, I'm sure it will be amazing...I'm always hoping for more solo stuff from Konno-san. Otherwise, I think I'd have to agree

Still looking forward to OST2, though. Hoping for more stuff like Gradus Prohibitus, Credens Justitiam, Puella in Somnio, Pugna Cum Maga...more Koichi-san, more Fion, more creepy/tragic-sounding music box synth...

Good point, if both songs are rearranged versions from Yuki & Co, it will raise their value significantly.

Sadly, no. It's probably the only underwhelming point of the OST - only four vocal tracks. There will be no more vocals until WN theme... unless we get some album versions of remaining tracks with added vocals.
(seriously, how about a vocal section in Ave Maria? Eri, Yuri or FJ/Kalafina girls? 5 minutes of violin alone is nice, but more variety would be even nicer. )

But the OST is worth looking for nonetheless. We're most likely getting both witch fight themes, the long-awaited Sayaka's theme ( ) and "Madoka's grief" track, plus Octavia's theme and Timeline 4 theme are quite probable to appear.

There will be Kyouko's theme, I believe, although it's more sad than tragic or creepy.

Wow...I think the only Kajiura-sensei OSTs with less vocal tracks are Elemental Gelade and .hack//liminality...maybe The Velveteen Rabbit, if that even counts. It's a little depressing

IIRC Double Cast and Boogiepop had no vocals at all either (except samples).

I think the "Asshole" title refers to Kamijou's practice in ep 6 (when Sayaka was standing in front of his house). Maybe it was not Ave Maria (unless it's the only song he can play now ).

because it was only a minute, having five minutes in the OST gives us hope that it may be exclusive full-fledged arrangement from Yuki (maybe even with vocal parts from Eri or Yuri? dreaming is not against the law, you know ).
Then again, it may well be the original classical piece whacked into the OST just because it was featured. As much as I like the song itself, I'm not sure I'd be happy to see it filling up the space (although what space can we talk about, with barely a third of the CD capacity used?).

It's SMEJ. Live with it. At least they get some credit for making it Yuki's second OST with unreleased tracks absent or kept to a minimum.
