The bigger issue is WHEN ARE WE GETTING THIS SONG? Why still no release date?
Don't tell me it's going to be a bside on Walpurgis Rising single. :|
ALthough to be fair, at least that would mean a possibility of an instrumental....

I have to confess, I would've prefered something darker, but seeing this in the context of the other Madoka openings, I guess this was to be expected. I'll have to warm up to the chorus, but I do like the intro and first part of the verse quite a bit. I'm also having no issues with Lino Leia in this song, on the contrary, I think her voice fits this quite well.
 
WELL I'LL BE. Emiko being just chorus makes me think she is indeed becoming a permanent member in the future.
It seems she sings lower harmony starting at 0:47 til the refrain "Fune wo michibiku hoshi ni naritai etc".
EDIT: WHOOPS didn't notice there was another page with more posts hue.

Of course, you can imagine that Kajiura would be delighted to immediately engage Emiko based on her upbringing with harmony singing.

Emiko would have a baseline to more quickly pick up the dynamics and blend.

Even your filename welcomed her.

Without the vocal separation, I could have easily imagined it was Keiko or Kaori harmonizing with LL
 
My opinion of the song: It's a generic but pleasant uplifiting song. Lino Leia's voice doesn't bother much like in Hachigatsu No Organ. Would be good to listen Emiko more clearly to have a better opinion as well.
I need to listen the full version to feel if it's going to be a just another good song or a good good song that I'll listen in repeat.
