New FictionJunction album "elemental" and YK Live vol. #11

Elemental sounds good to ^^ And I still didn't hear Storytelling, I hope I will like it too :XD:

elemental: love-child of destination, tetotetometome, and maybe Alabian Nights. Very different sound, and it may sound like it can't decide what it wants to be, but I loove the darkness of the chorus omg. and kyaa that korechan solo.

storytelling: two Kaori-lead songs right after each other? Still don't like the guitar parts of the verses, but I like the zutto zutto zutto part and the English WHICH WAS INCLUDED WITH THE LYRICS lol. I don't think I like the drums part either...
I feel like this song would be better suited to close the album on, since it sort-of has the feeling of sprinter/misterioso/symphonia/I reach for the sun which I'm failing to put into words right now uhg.

only negative thing I have to say is that I prefer the old flute solo lol
Gaika: SO DARK. I LOVE IT. SO MUCH. Love-child of signal's scattering and Tsuioku, perhaps? :psst:
I like the Gaika-Yakusoku pairing too.

Favourite new song: Gaika (including self-covers, then it's a tie between storm and Gaika with elemental 2nd sorry, storytelling)

Thank you soooo much aki! I normally want to wait until my album, but I couldn't anymore with gaika being so great from the preview. But listening to it now.

gaika: Wow... LOVE IT. I knew I was going to, but this is my new favorite song ever. :) The background vocals sounds weird in the beginning, almost like a guy singing. lol But the ahhhs are great. Reminds me of frenetic a bit. The cello is great as well. It is very dark, yet I still want to dance to it. Guitar part is awesome! This is going to be on repeat for awhile. The ending is a bit weird, but that's my only complaint about the song. Wakana is amazing.

elemental: Same opinion as before, still great. Sounds from Tsubasa in there, and the full version is nice! Still reminds me a bit of dreamscape, but maybe because it's Kaori. heh Wow, the violin. Konno, you have my love! (Sounds like Stargate again.) Awesome Kore in this too.

storytelling: It's a nice and uplifting song. I like the racing feel, like you're in a car on the freeway. I like the instruments in the background. I like the "zutto" part as well. So Yuriko is in the chorus! Nice. It's nice that the English lyrics were included. I will want to read them. This is a lot better then what I was expecting. It's a lot different than the other FJ songs on the album.

storm: Wakana is really nice. I think she's gotten a lot better. The chorus is a bit weird, it's not as soft as the original, but I still like it. It's very emotional. I do agree that I also miss the flute, there is flute, but I guess not as much as before. But it's still nice.

Is Hikaru included in any of the new songs aki? There is a lack of Keiko in the new songs, obviously she is in the background for them, but she is in the older songs a lot, so I guess that makes up for that. I love the new songs so much! Ugh, can't wait until I get my album. I hope to one day see these songs live. Thanks so much again aki. gaika is by far my favorite, if you haven't figured that out yet.

Well this is new~

I would just love to declare my love for GAIKA!!! I was not very much into Wakana main before but this one is just so good~ And the chorus, I really love it. So rich. We need more songs like this, please (^0^)/

Mmmm, elemental is good~ I've yet to listen again to the other two songs. Coz looping gaika~~~

Okay don't hate me but the new songs are boring.

Elemental was actually quite catchy but from the bridge onwards it became weird. The guitar solo is somehow out of place.
Pros : like the strings, the chorus is catchy, Keiko's little part in the stanza is nice.
Cons : too long, guitar solo is weird, the ending is weird.

storytelling is just plain no.
Pros : the engrish is catchy it kinda stuck in my head.
Cons : everything else. Don't hate me but I really hate the zutto zutto zutto.

storm, again, don't hate me, but they seem to overprocessed Wakana's voice in the stanza and it doesn't really please my ear.

Gaika is actually really nice, but then after 2 minutes and the awesome "aaah" ends, it became repetitive because there's nothing else in the song. At least in signal, there's extra accordion added to the song so it doesn't come out as repetitive, even though the melody line are all the same except for the bridge. After 4 minute I can't wait for the song to just end.
Pros : the "aaah" throughout the song, the melody line is nice, the arrangement is nice, and I actually like the ending.
Cons : it's boring. Not something I'd put on repeat.

I know it's just a matter of taste, but really none of the songs brought smile to my face like Kalafina's newer songs did. Gaika is the only track that gave me some hope from the preview, yet the full version isn't really appealing to me.
 
Okay, so indeed elemental is sometihng between destination unknown (guitar part) and Yami no Uta (strings)/Magia quattro arrangement wise but I do like the melody, Kaori's singing and the harmonies. Will take some time to get used to it

storytelling is sorta forgettable but I enjoy that Yuriko got her own japanese lines, even thought it was filtered, but this makes it even more like a Saeko Chiba song now :XD:
storm - I Lo-ve Wakana's singing, it sounds so powerful!! :nosebleed: The Hikari no Yukue days came to mind. Kinda missing the Yuriko chorus. This arrangement seems closer to Rock with the bass and the aggressiver strings.

gaika - OMG this is surely the best song of the album, a crossover of adore with Mata kaza ga tsuyoku nata cello and signal's chorus :hearts: I wonder if its Yuriko or Wakana doing the chorus. Totally in love with the song.

In all I really like the new songs of FictionJunction, if only they were ditching some of the older to make room for more new it would make this album lots better.

Now I have to recreate the album from the older releases to see how the songs come together. Now we are sure that the main FJ singers are Wakana and Kaori.

@aki: There some problem with the tracks as when I play with with WMP duration doesnt show up and I cant skip time.
