Where are you guys getting that classical/choral idea for My-HiME/Otome of all things... I m confushion.

By the way, to anyone that is thinking about watching this concert (should they stream or release it), please do yourself a favor and give the anime a try before they spoil it in the advertised film footage during the concert. XD
I see. So the anime is worth watching - both of them.

My-HiME, I'd say yes. Some of the music timing/imagery/story/character moments are iconic, which could be easily be spoiled with footage during the concert. (Depending how they do it, really.)

Otome is a little confused between trying to follow in HiMEs beats and doing its own story with repurposed characters. Also some questionable romance elements. But still, yes, if you liked HiME.

Both turn into different kind of schlock at times and I wouldn't be surprised if there were people who like My-Otome but not My-HiME. :)

ALSO, to add, not only does it have a fantastic cast of characters & voice actors, it has some who are of note to us, like Yuuka Nanri and Saeko Chiba. Tomokazu Seki, too, if you want to count Shoot. XD

If you only know Yuuka from FJY... bruh, her seiyuu work might blow your mind.

It's in terms of the vocalists, Hanae being prominent.

Ok you’ve sold me on it. Yuuka seiyuu-ing? I'm intrigued.

I’ll look it up for maybe a weekend watch, and post my thoughts here, if it's not out of place in this thread.

I'm tempering your expectations. I can't imagine how much more prominent she can be beyond what we've heard in previous YK lives. I don't know what else Kajiura can do differently, lol. Nor do I necessarily think she should. Other than Himeboshi that's closer to the og version and the finale mashup.

Have fun. Hope you enjoy yourself.

Thanks!

I won't be disappointed either way. It would be nice to hear her sing any other song apart from those she's been singing frequently during YKL.

@CloisteredFlame Yea except the image album (2005) was many years before Nein (2015) and this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoNV_3qJ_LQ&list=PLe56DhYWN5W8BV-XiYhzHOwdztrtgJeBg&index=7 of the album is sung by Ami Koshimizu, same VA who sang YK's "storm"

On-topic: So in order for someone to watch the concert needs to buy the release + win lottery using the ticket application + pay the ticket price, or those won are free and the price for the concert are for the regular goers outside of the lottery ?

Might need to clarify with my mom later because she used to take some classical training classes back in her college time. But I do think Hanae hasn't really shown any of her different singing nuances aside from classical/ operatic voice. It would be, not entirely, fresh to see her singing catering a chest voice or even backup vocal (though I'm not so sure if she's used to singing that way or not). If that scenario ever is coming true, other girls will switch up and down to accommodate the new arrangement. Just like Kasahara dropping to chest voice in some parts in Salva Nos, Hanae might. Joelle and Yuriko also have a classically trained background + Hanae being part in Ensemble Planeta + the violon/in/cello quarter -> that's why I deem this live a classical live. : )

I hope you all get what you want. I just have no idea what it is you're expecting considering all the main My-HiME vocal BGM have been performed in YK lives already, just not necessarily in og arranges. There's only Shinwa no Hate ni left and while it's going to be exciting to have it performed live, it's not like it has any original stuff there, it's a mashup of earlier themes.

I guess we'll see if she takes part in My-Otome side. Beyond stuff like the aforementioned HiME's Shinwa no Hate ni idea rehash in Otome no Kyouen. All the original My-Otome stuff is Yuri (for MATERIALISE) and Yuriko (for everything else).

Amusingly you can probably hear Wakana more than Yuriko in Sei Otome no Inori on the first FJ LIVE album. Whether that ends up being Joelle now, or maybe Hanae I guess we'll see. PS. I'm still not a fan of Yuriko in MATERIALISE on that album. Gib Yuri.

So, tracks they're 100% definitely performing:
HiME: Himeboshi, Duran Shoukan, Mezame
Otome: Materialise!, Sei otome no inori, Windbloom (probably? It was performed at a soundtrack special), Hoshi ga kanaderu monogatari.

What else y'all think they're performing, or wish they would perform?
HiME
-Kyou no hajimari, I mean, Rie is there!
-Yasashisa no guuwa
-Yamiyo no prologue
-Kokuyou no kimi

Otome
-Otome no komoruita
-Mai/or at least Ikusa Otome
-Lilac, just for some Yuriko solo
-Chiisana doukeshi

Yea i think its pretty much what they ll do, the rest is not very significant. Maybe they ll try pull a medley ala "promotional bgm" for instrumentals.

Himeboshi
Kyo no hajimari
maybe they could do Natsu, Sora, Umikaze with flute for solo
Yasashisa no guwa
Yamiyo no prologue (they bloody better)
Duran shokan
Chiisana shiawase
Yoru no Soko ni Shizumu
Mezame
Kokuyo no kimi (they bloody better)
maybe they could do some stripped down Taisetsu na Hito
Nemuranai Yami no Shitou
Shinwa no Hate ni

If they don't do the bolds, then what even was the point... lul.

Otome
-Otome no komoruita
-Mai/or at least Ikusa Otome
-Lilac, just for some Yuriko solo
-Chiisana doukeshi
Otome no Komoriuta
maybe anything from Otome no Waltz, Hajimete no Machi, Windbloom, Gokigenyou (they weren't afraid of egregious playback during Pripri live...)
Mai (would be sweet)
MATERIALISE
Ikusa Otome
lilac
Kindan no Hanazono
Chiisaki doukeshi
Hinageshi no Hana no youni
Sei Otome no Inori
Shin naru Mezame (unlikely, but wishlist...)
Otome no Yakusoku

There's still a few more I'd like but they are mostly synths so I don't really believe they'd bother...
This is still a wishlist and a half. I bet they do half of that at best, if not just the vocal tracks. XD

Oh she definitely has a chest voice but doesn't use it often I imagine for performances. She's used to doing chorus harmony from Ensemble Planeta, since she's not always the lead vocal. She's also used to switching parts between lead and chorus (4 vocalists and Hanae's not even the soprano 1 - highest soprano)!

Ensemble is a much more blended-tone choral group because they all sing in the same style (they sing mainly in an acappella chamber styl; it won't be the same with FJ, where the singers' individual styles are much more varied and present even during choruses.

I also remember hearing an old video of REMI singing a pop tune maybe last year (I believe I saw the link here) and it wasn't as good as her classical head voice singing. It's just a matter of training additional techniques in addition to your classical foundation.

Hey @grunty!

So I just finished Mai-Hime and it was a really cool anime.

Interesting and off-the-wall characters and scenarios. Really cool! Of course it had all the teen drama and love triangles/pentagles and all that, but it had a solid through line and a really feel-good ending.

Which character was Yuuka Nanri?
