Kalafina's 17th single "Ring your Bell"

My first impression was that I was glad that it wasn't generic like Believe or Heavenly Blue, but... it's just generic in a different sort of way, I guess. It doesn't sound too bad though.

Well, if a composer's job is to fit the mood of the project, then these generic themes for Fate/Stay Night are really just top-tier work, right? :psst:

CDJapan has now listed the single too, but to those eyeing the vinyl like me, I've got some bad news... it's listed as out of print at both CDJapan and HMV already. Whyyyyyyyy :touched:

yeah.. ring your bell kinda sounds like misterioso but I like it. and I would like associate 'far on the water' with
'A Song of Storm and Fire'.. hehe :) cant wait for its release! :D

OH NO!.. I was planning to get this vinyl edition, too. :(

^ its not, Hatouchan said its more like a faster Yume no Daichi. Song of Storm and fire was a battle bgm.

Hatouchan said:
They then announce the ring your bell single. "well then... Today... We're... Not going to sing it" EHHHHHH??!! she has another announcement! A new ending theme for historia! Far on the water.

I can't remember much except that keiko gets to open the song. Sorry. It generally takes a while for songs to enter my head. I think only magia and gin no niwa made an immediate impact thus far. I don't think it sounded like symphonia though it is quite a bright song and is faster than Yume no daichi? Quite a bit of Kajiurago. I also remember the song changing quite drastically? Nothing more. Sorry.

I guess that means that they werent enough for all the japanese hardcore fans that order right after the announcement. Pray they will print more, since they obviously havent even started yet.

This is a pass for me. Every time the songs seems to build up to something it switches to a different verse of something. I don't have the musical know-how to describe it but basically, the song is like a stitch work that you can see, or in this case hear, the various seams at which a new song idea begins and another ends. I'll wait for the official release before settling on my feelings but as it is, I am not like this song.

You know, after its performance this past year, I think Kalafina needs to take a really long break from ops and eds. All the anime tie-ins have been bland or derivative of past works and its clear now that this is not going to change. KNGNN and Alleluia gave me hope that things would turn around but everything since then has been sub-par.

Wow, I totally forgot about posting the link here, didn't know I was early. Glad I could share it with everyone here.

Title of the song immediately reminds me of Bonnie Pink's 'ring a bell' which also reminds me of Tales of Vesperia.

Any fans of the Tales series here? How awesome would it be if a Kalafina song is chosen as the OP for a new Tales game? :nosebleed:

Oh, and you're welcome.

I thought the studio version of ring your bell was way better than the live. I heard it post live yesterday. Couldn't hear it clearly but it sounded very pretty. Sounded pretty promising.

I love this song, it doesn't sound too similar to what they have released in the last year, which makes me glad. It feels fast paced and exciting, and I really like the kajiurago! Can't wait for a clearer version! Hikaru seems to get a lot of lines too, which works perfectly for me!

I liked Believe a lot but Heavenly Blue is probably the only Kalafina A-side that I haven't liked at all so far, even though lots of people think they sound the same, so maybe this does sound similar to previous songs, I just don't hear it. Maybe mood-wise because this is a bright song? but seriously I don't hear the similarities with Mirai at all, and that's one of my favorite songs.

EDIT: I'm also disappointed about the vinyl. I recently bought a Perfume one and loved the whole format so much that I wanted to get my hands on a Kalafina one. Oh well.

The selling-out of the vinyl is bitterly disappointing. I knew full well they'd go quick, but the 'window of opportunity' seems to have been insane! I've been checking CDJapan literally daily since hearing about the announcement, so they sold out within hours. Hours. :vortex:

And yes, I understand the 'limited numbers' thing and how commonplace it is, but sometimes it doesn't make good business sense. I wonder if SME will do another pressing when they realise how they could make more money by selling more copies.

EDIT: it's not specifically listed as being unavailable from Amazon JP at the time of typing. I'll give an update when I know whether my preorder's successful or not.

Wow, thanks so much! I think I am liking the harmonies so much. Wakana sounds excellent and far more relaxed in this concert. (From this song alone I can tell.) It's a nice "church" sounding song. I love the strings, which remind me of misterioso. The end reminds me of Alleluia, and it's nice. Also two songs performed at the concert that were new! Ahhh so lucky Japanese fans. I wish I could have gone. *sigh* Their dresses are amazing too. Also I thought of L'arc en Ciel's Daybreak's Bell. heh This is going to be a great year I think. I hope for more great b-sides like lapis (imo). And the other title sounds more like a ballad. Is there anyone who went that can give us more details about it? And wow, a Vinyl, that sounds amazing. Can't wait to see the covers of these two singles!

@garnetjester is that the clear vinyl version of Level3? It's a really nice release, although I was lucky in that I happened to be in a Tower Records shop in Tokyo last year and just happened to see it purely by chance. I couldn't believe my luck, honestly! I got the confirmation e-mail about the 'ring your bell' vinyl from Amazon.jp with no follow-up warnings or refusals btw, so if anyone is still trying to find it, that might be worth a try (quite honestly though, this situation does make the preordering process pointless if it's bound to sell out almost immediately).

I can only assume Amazon were allocated more copies than CDJapan and HMV, so the orders are taking longer to be snapped up. I'd like to think that Amazon would only let you place an order for something if it was actually available, but I've heard about other outlets getting customers' hopes up then cancelling on them. So please don't take this as a guarantee - I'm not, regardless of what that apparently-reassuring e-mail says! :TdT:

ahhhhghhgh I'm so pissed about the vinyl being sold out. I even had woken up around the time CDJapan up it up on their site this morning. Why didn't I go ahead and order it before I went back to sleep :leaf:

about Amazon, I spy...
発売予定日は2015年5月13日です。 在庫状況について
out of stock. Or, according to google, temporarily out of stock. orz why. I really hope someone asks if they'll print more considering the quick pre-order

Can't say I'm surprised about the vinyl. With the increased popularity recently of the medium and the general small presses of such things, plus all the attention on the release due to the Budokan performance, they were going to disappear fast regardless. Possibly not as fast as they seem to have done, but still. I was thinking of picking one up even though I don't collect vinyl simply for collection purposes, but oh well.

Hmm...maybe the 'temporarily' part is Amazon trying to keep their options open, because I suspect they're as in the dark as everyone else. If the supplier doesn't have a product, there's not much they can do apart from wait or cancel the orders. I must admit I wouldn't have noticed if that was on-screen when I placed my order, because my sub-JLPT kanji knowledge only just helped me find the 'place order' button!

It's not surprising and I'm not naive enough to think that grumbling about it will make any difference. I suppose it's part of that idea that revolves around this weird fetish for exclusivity, that something will somehow be worthless as 'special' or 'collectible' unless it's only available in limited numbers to a small number of people. I wonder if customers really think that, or whether it's a misunderstanding on the retailer's part. I'm sure there are some avid collectors out there who feel that way, but still.

To expand on my comment Re: preordering further up the thread: the whole point of preorders is to give customers chance to get an early order in, and to help the folks in the supply chain work out how much stock they'll handle, right? There's no logical reason why they can't order another pressing - the cover artwork and tracklisting hasn't been announced publicly, after all - and it's common sense that you sell more copies of a product and turn a bigger profit if you make and sell enough to meet demand.

I don't know. It would be a missed opportunity really. We're all used to SME being thoughtless towards their fans, but instances like this could lead to them making a decision that doesn't benefit their interests either. It's understandable I suppose if the speed of the preorders took them by surprise since this is Kala's first vinyl release so they don't have previous singles release figures to fall back on, but it would make good business sense to check the numbers from Amazon, CDJapan and the rest, and take things from there. Otherwise, they might as well just put them up for sale on release day and let the mad free-for-all scramble happen then instead.

I saw a similar experience go down this last week with Perturbator's first two albums go up for sale, only available from the label itself and at the same time in very limited numbers (under 1,000 total) and it was a huge mess. Safe to say, a lot of people were disappointed and missed out as the amount of interest vastly outstripped the availability. I am guessing a similar issue is happening here. Thing is, almost all releases I've seen from Japanese artists seem to come with 'first press bonuses' so I'm wondering if the first press is all that's sold out and, considering the time it took to do so, whether they'll do a second press. Of course that ideology might be skipped because it's a limited release, but it's worth hoping for.

I never used Amazon JP before...
CDJapan sold out in mere hour from what I heard.
Amazon is still selling them, it seems

@Seasonreaper Limited doesnt mean available until stock lasts, but that they will not print more after a set date of time, which is usually a few months after the release of the single. So i think you can still hope.
