Kalafina 「into the world / Märchen」20th single (Release April 5, 2017)

Here's the ITW PV :plot:

Thank you!

Well, it's cute. I mean, it has nice images. Nothing new, nothing unexpected. I liked the indoors scenes. There might be an intention of a kind of narrative (they are inside, they decide to leave the house and go to the sea, into the world...), but it's clumsy and ineffective, in any case.
I think I prefer the fotw pv, as a sea pv. The message is almost the same.

The girls are so cute, tho.

//confused by Märchen PV

The ITW PV was pretty good, at least all the parts where they weren't just standing on the beach singing :XD:. I especially liked at the end when all 3 of them gather at the window looking out- it reflects how their moving to SACRA is going to (hopefully) involve more international attention.

The into the world PV was nice, i liked the indoor scenes most (Keiko sleeping, wakana turning around and singingi <3) and the ones where they gaze at the sea together, but that blue window seemed like it was fake. Book with turning pages on both PVs, i guess they run out of ideas.

Oh shetttt..
I just realised Haru wo Matsu had no harmonies at all. It's just all three of them soloing.

I knew something was super unusual about this but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

:O YESSSSSS :O

I think that the idea of the book on both PVs was on purpose, since it's the ending of ITW PV and the beginning of Marchen PV. Don't know, I like that idea, and I love Marchen PV

Or they're trying to "tie" the two pvs, like saying "IT'S ALL CONNECTED" (?)

Now that you mention it... let's not forget that Märchen is fairytale (or fairytales, as someone said before). And it has BOOKS.

The whole fast forward chandelier wavering in th air stuff was a turn off lmao

Edit: I only loved the ending of into the world PV, where it seemed like something was going on outside the window. I wonder what they saw. Maybe the new producer for Kalafina?

Just listened to Haru wo Matsu again, it kind of reminds me of Hanako. Maybe she had this in mind for a song? heh I love Keiko's voice, it's like she's singing to a baby. So sweet. I especially like the part with the title in it. (It kind of also reminds me of a graduation song... I don't know why, maybe the piano?) Anyways... I think of Marchen as a mix of their "dark" or more deeper sounding tones and celtic, with the flute and instrumentals. I do like the Kajiurago version as well. Keiko's part is kind of weird and out of place... usually I like her lines. haha

Bilibili is seriously borked for me. I can't get the player to display in Firefox or Sea Monkey. And in Chrome it tells me it's not available. *sigh*. Gonna have to wait till the videos show up on You Tube or some other source I can play them.

Like both PVs, although I have to admit that the shaky camera work in Märchen PV is a bit :@_@: . Love the earrings of all the girls in itw PV and I like the dresses better, when they are wearing the jackets. Hides the ugly sleeves^^ and I LOVE Keiko's hair style . The Märchen dresses are really cool (they give me a witchy vibe, don't know why) , but in some way they remind me of the Yume no Daichi dresses with all the layers and farbic bits and pieces, but still love them.

The marchen dresses (especially Wakana's and Keiko's) do resemble Yume no Daichi dresses. They looked like they're sewn of leftover materials of their previous dresses. Keiko's upper part kinda loooked like her consolation dress and Wakana's dress is Yume no Daichi meets blaze.

Idk if this'd work on you but if you are an android user, try open the bilibili page from opera mini browser. It'll download the video instead of playing it (tho the quality is only 640x360) but it's better than nothing, if you can't hardly wait.

Finally listened to the single. 'into the world' is really nice, your typical RHH sound and I'm digging it. Idk how I feel about Marchen tbh, it's like Kajiura plagiarized herself. I can't get IEN out of my head playing while I listen to it but still I like it, I guess. Haru wo Matsu is kind of a snoozefest tbh, not feeling it much. Overall I'm quite happy with this single, nothing groundbreaking. Still waiting for the day we'll go back to the old standard tho.

I'm sorry to those that don't appreciate it but Märchen is literally perfection. I fought personally hard to fend for its TV version, as 99% of everyone else's minds went bluntly toward --
"it's IEN :waa:"

-- and I was very disappointed in feeling no one else paid attention to details.

The majority's two primary words: THE BRIDGE. And they are in no way wrong. I personally enjoy the bridge because it broke from the song and provided a different yet seamless sense of being haunting (from Keiko) and frantic (from those middle and end inserts).

So the PV. Literally the one and only thing I disliked was that they suddenly used that overlay of light bulbs instead of sticking to candles. The higher use of time manipulation was extremely fitting, and I guess I was the only one not phased at all by the use of camera work. Also, very personal opinion, I hate to sound like an ass but to say that the placing of books in both PVs was just "running out of ideas" comes off as kinda . . . ignorant. The timing makes the placement's intention very obvious, to me. I personally think that the director should have taken even more advantage of Wakana's naturally stoic face and integrated a closeup scene of her with the dolls, showing no emotion while singing (akin to the "You Make Me Want To Be A Man" video of Utada Hikaru, and the "progressive" PV).

To my utter surprise, the dresses are Yume no Daichi done right. The bottom half of Keiko's was the one I least liked but they were all made so much more tastefully than I would have expected after the similar "recycling" element of YnD's.

I'm sorry, I'm almost done.

But, a personal response to grunty asking why so many of us see Märchen as something "dark" or "creepy".
The reason I became a Yuki Kajiura fan was from hearing her Kajiurago music (specifically Mezame and Ensei while first watching MyHiME). For me, with Kajiura work, a song is all about aesthetic -- letting the instruments, progression and especially the harmonies put images, stories and desires into one's head without having to know the words. For instance, the percussion and time signature cuts seem tribal in a sense; I can see a night ceremony in the middle of a forest in progress. Yet the strings that come soon after make the image more Renaissance-esque. The sound of Hikaru's primary role in the verses gives off a feeling of bitterness and determination, adding up to vengeance. In the bridge, Keiko's self harmonization on top of the drums exudes a somehow incriminating nature in combination with Wakana's parts, which give off a sense of frantic struggle against whatever you're guilty of, with that descending "hoshigatte, hoshigatte" harmony making the struggle seem futile in the end.

As for a story, before seeing the rest of the PV for into the world and before seeing that 4 second snippet of Märchen, I imagined that while singing "into the world" at the end, the girls would walk into the water. For Märchen, they would come out tattered on the other side, holding bitterness that the world they ventured into so serenely gave up on them, and struggled through a forest to come across an abandoned mansion, refashioning whatever was left of the place clothing-wise and venturing into getting revenge on that hopeless world by starting to practice witchcraft . . .

. . . or something. :rain:

This is all what I see without looking at lyric translation. It seems very awkward but it's not really meant to be put into words, it's more like a picture, or a dance, but that's just me.

Where is the Marchen PV? I want to see it!!!!

Nevermind... found it on Bilibili. Wow, weird. I think they were trying to recreate the anime, but it was too dizzying for me. And the dolls creaped me out. heh I did at times like the jerking (I guess is the word?) of the walking, and when the flute was playing the light flickered. I agree about the dresses though... they could have gone back to corsettes for this one. *sigh*Keiko's chair flip at the end, and her dragging it. lol I did however liked the location. At least it wasn't in a dank building, it seemed more like a haunted mansion, which was cool.

No. Don't have Android. I don't know why Bilibili isn't working for me. I had problems with it last summer and in the fall it would no longer load for me. I posted a lot of videos of Kaori from that site when I could access it...(and one from Yuuki)
