Kalafina in Budokan 28 February - 01 March 2015

yes but they use stuff to cover the skin during these months right ? (dont remember the words)
Tights and stockings? One would assume so. In Japan the humidity is really low which is the reason people wear masks. The masks help keep the lips and throat warm otherwise they turn blue and lips get chapped.
One would think they'd do the same for legs for the same reasons

oh I see, thanks for the info! :) (I thought the masks were only because they were very careful about not getting infected by other people's diseases)

In Japan the humidity is really low

i hope you mean in the winter because in the summer, humidity is about 309873479% lol

^Japanese people wear masks for a lot of reasons :XD:
i remember when i lived in tokyo, i wore masks because either i didn't want to do my makeup, i was sick, i didn't want to get sick, it was so cold out, or some other silly reason like i had a nasty pimple idk :XD:

From my understanding of watching a lot of japanese idols who wear tiny skirts all the time, no, japanese girls don't cover up their legs when they sit down like korean girls do. Actually, I remember a Kpop boyband once said in an interview that what shocked them the most about Japan was how girls wore really short stuff with nothing to cover them up and even rode bikes in mini skirts or shorts.

In the winter some of them wear tights, and I have no idea how the ones who don't even survive the cold. But then again, I'm a tropical person, winter is simply something my body refuses to comprehend.

I bump this thread because I finally found time to watch the Red day live

misterioso: not much to say

Tetotetometome - LOLz at the choreography, looks like they have confused ancient egypt wallpaints with arabian style bellies dance which are totally different things. There is a weird ringing sound between the parts of the song that wasnt in studio ver, I guess its the keyboard ? Singing is ok

fantasia: not much to say

Magnolia: The most interesting part is when wakana stays in front and the others go back to do only chorus :)

most of the time strings sound as if they are muted, why do they have them play during all the duration of the song then ?
Even the earphones seem like they have some jewel attached on them (17:21)

Lacrimosa: with the strings almost muted and overtaken by strings and bass, Lacrimosa sounds like a totally different song :S
singiing sounds fine.

Kagayaku sora no shijima ni wa: In the live where they tried to reproduce the PV it was much more atmospheric. Wow i really liked that Keiko replaced most of the kajiurago, it sounded beautiful <3 (24:50) Hikaru run out of breath in half of "michi"

ARIA: Aria sounded perfect, but I still prefer the 4-person one from Seventh Heaven DVD.

Believe is the first song so far where you can actually hear some strings (but I still cant hear them playing most of the time event though I see them). The sound mixing in this BD is really weird.

moonfesta: finally something where the string can be actually heard, also live flute <3 Hikaru seems really stressed in her "cute singing" parts. Dansu is again weird XD. Funny how even Akagi Rie is moving happily :)

neverending: was sweet :) really like the cello at the end.

Hikari Furu: All 3 sing so beautiful in this one <3 however the bridge part proves the need of a 4th member, since they are too busy with the japanese lyrics and there's nobody to sing the soprano part which ends up being playback

Hikari no Senritsu: I cant find any flaws in the singing, Rie's flute play is really cool and jazzy, it is one of the few songs where she gets alot of spotlight

When the fairytale ends: Keyboard play on the intro is really lazy, rest of song sounds great, strings <3, but I dont remember the e.guitar being there in the CD ver XD
lol feels like they got more clapping for the ost music rather than the Kalafina songs :ohoho:

Fairytale: If you except that they left the intro and outro chorus on playback again, the song was flawless, but I wanted hikaru to say the "sayanara" a bit more dramatically.

Oblivious: Question: in 01:10:39 she's still singing the chorus, so how in the next second she is ready to sing the japanese part ? Hikaru looks like she sings the chorus in the part, but it sounds like Wakana.

Kyrie: Sounds really good but I cant point out something possitive or negative :)

consolation: Wow one after another the god-related songs :XD: Wakana's "ah-ah-ah" chorus sounds a bit shaky, but other than that they sing great

ongaku: what's with Keiko using her cutesy voice ? It doesnt really fit the song. This must be the songs thats in almost every Kalafina setlist since the start. One would expect Wakana, after 6 years of singing this song that she could perfect the start of the bridge chorus, but she still cant do it like its in the CD. Oh well. Rest song sounds great :)

Yume no Daichi: This one sounded really powerful even though it was ballad, I really enjoyed it ^_^

Mune no Yukue: I think that if Keiko suprises similing all the time (which makes her notes smile too XD - this might fit in this particular song but not in most) she could sing a whole album by herself. E.guitar was really '90 just like all the song is - originally a see-saw song after all.

Alleluia: Wakana's intro chorus was really lifeless for some reason :( I felt Wakana's singing was more high-pitch that it should have been, other than that song sounded fine.

Documentary: Haha Keiko's T-shirt "All things before they are easy". Haha those girls that got they stuff signed were near to crying :D

I think I know what you mean. I wonder if that's the same DVD rip I found on YT not long ago. I'll go and check, because it's pretty great. It was definitely from the "Maya" era, and having the four of them singing really did make a difference. It's a shame they can't borrow one of the FJ girls for live performances of that song or something. It sort of needs the extra backing vocals, mainly when they're all singing different lines at the same time over the guitar solo.

EDIT: this is one I meant. :hearts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATdIWYdm0T8

^ Yes its from the opening act of YK live vol #2 after "sprinter-aria" release.
In it there are 2 in chorus and 2 on main vocal, and that makes the song much more rich in many ways. They've also done kimi ga hikari Kizuato and oblivious in that performance.

Yeah, you can't hear the strings, even though they made a big deal to bring in more than just Konno and a cello this time. Becuase it's Budokan! But they should have focused on the instruments a little. The only time you really see them is in their introductions. Though Rie Akagi gets the most screen time out of them, I think they liked her a lot. lol I do too, but show Konno some love please! And they shot Korenaga's guitar. What the heck? Show all of him playing. I think Red Moon and After Eden had better camera persons. But it was a big stage.

It was less so camerapeople and more so editing. FBM really didn't get that many shots this time around, especially Junior, Konno and Sato. Sakurada had plenty of shots during his piano solo during the costume change; Korenaga had some during his solos, but not as many as before.

Eden is my favorite performance from Red Day! It was one of the few songs I hadn't heard before. Hearing it filled me with such a child-like wonderment. It sounded beautiful

KEIKO always had those lines in Kagayaku sora no shijima ni wa.

And also, I don't think being able to cover all vocal lines is a reasonable rationale for adding members to Kalafina :XD: Technically, all we need to do is incorporate YURIKO KAIDA and Tomaru Hanae into LIVE performances as CHORUS. The lack of CHORUS vocalists, unlike FictionJunction YUUKA LIVES, is what's lacking - not the number of members. Trio Kalafina is sufficient for me, at least. It's already hard for us to be satisfied with equal division of lead vocal opportunities between WAKANA and HIKARU and KEIKO... imagine a fourth singer (and don't mention sprinter/ARIA - that was a one time thing that worked great! But think long-run.)

I agree that a scheme where Yuriko and Hanae did chorus would be great, but that would require them to go to all lives of Kalafina even the small ones ? Unless they appear as guest vocals in big concerts only.

^ Very much this. It maybe has to do with labels and such, but I was hoping for some vocal guest appearances too. I mean, it's no secret that Yuriko, Hanae, and such are in the studio versions of quite a few of their songs, right? I guess I really want to see oblivious with Hanae and signal with Yuriko in particular (oh Kaji Fest :TdT:).

On a different note, it really is a different experience watching the performances as opposed to just listening to the audio. I finally got to really sit down and watch it and besides quite a bit of weird kala-dansu, it was quite enjoyable to see. I dunno why, but I really liked that for the second half of Kagayaku, Wakana got to sit on the stairs. :XD:

^I liked that as well. I thought it spiced things up a bit. And it gave her a chance to rest, since she is main vocal a lot. Also I liked that they showed each one of them in the beginning of fairytale. I know they've done that in the past, so maybe they liked it and kept it that way? Not sure if they have the same choreograph people or not for the lives. While I think I liked the dancing in te to, I thought moonfesta was really weird and did not really fit it, but I laughed anyways. Wakana (and they all did) seemed to be having fun.

^ I did see the part you mentioned at the beginning of fairytale and I liked it too. I didn't know they've done it before, though!
I think my two biggest gripes about their dancing is that it's very stiff most of the time and it's kinda weirdly unnatural in places. Like most of their bigger/longer dance moves are when their not signing, which makes sense, but it feels like it comes to an abrupt halt when they start signing or the music changes (I guess an example would be their movements at the beginning of the Magia instrumental before the bridge). Moonfesta was... not that enjoyable for me. Both because of the dancing not fitting, like you said, but also because I like Wakana's part of echoing the words in the chorus and I'm kinda sad she only did it in one part. :uh..:

I wish I could give an example of choreography from them I liked... does the "bokura ga yuku..." and "kitto ashita wa..." parts in hoshi no utai count?

^Ah, yeah, I guess it is a bit stiff, now that I think about it. Te to seemed more rehearsed than the others, though we did see them rehearse the Magia "swimming" scene. lol I need to watch these lives again, though I would be sad that the new songs aren't in them. *sigh* I mean, I know I got ring your bell and far on the water later, but I want to see Usumurasaki and Musunde in particular. I hope they come to the states soon.
