Kalafina in Budokan 28 February - 01 March 2015

So I finally got around to watch Blue Day.

Let’s get out with the negative first: Of course there is the same problem as in Red Day as I already elaborated some posts ago: Where is Satou during his Magia introduction and the drum solo?:glower: Where is Konno during his love come down solos?:bloodlust: Where is Jr. Tomoharu at all?:fwa: Darn SME!:stupidtable:

Ok, now as we have this out of the way let’s move on to the positives: In one sentence, this concert was friggin AMAZING!:nosebleed::TdT:

No, seriously: I thought that Red Day was for the most part pretty darn great but “great” is definitely a word not great enough to describe the pure awesomeness of this live! The only thing I can think of which was not flawless was, as @Kirito already said, probably that Hikaru sometimes was a bit too loud:notlistening:, but nowhere near as bad as on Red Day. In return Wakana NAILED it, holy cow, that effortless control over her voice - a demonstration of proficiency!:nosebleed: I mean she was already awesome on Red Day but holy cow, she outdid herself here! We all know that Wakana’s performances have always been a bit of a mixed bag with a lot of ups and downs so this doesn’t go without saying (as it does with Keiko, who was of course rock-solid once again). Self-evident comments in (). Keep the great work up, Wakana!:cheer::cheer:

The band was also perfect. The only thing I didn’t like was how they replaced the numquam vincar guitar solo with a strange Violin solo but otherwise I enjoyed the heck out of every single song they played.:dote:

Also I really liked how there was much less “Kala-dansu” as on Red Day, as I’m honestly not a big fan of it. Also, (and this is of course one of the main reasons for my enormous enjoyment of this live), I simply loved this set list! With only signal and ongaku as the only two songs I don’t particularly care about on the list, I pretty much loved every single song! And even the two aforementioned songs were performed with such proficiency that I ended up enjoying them a lot!

Phew!:imdead: Sorry for my extreme fanboying but as you can see, I’m just blown away, I can’t help it (and I don’t want to).:ohoho:

Watch the lives for yourself (I implore you to do so:listen:) and see wether you agree or disagree with me, but my final verdicts are: Red Day 8.5/10 and Blue Day an easy 10/10, no room for discussion!:groucho:

Watching Blue day one manten, and in the visualisation they used the months in greek but they killed them all since they used "ζ" (Ζ) instead of "ς" which is a form of Σ that we put instead of σ in the end of words

the months are:

Ιανουάριος - January
Φεβρουάριος -February
Μάρτιος - March
Απρίλιος - April
Μάιος - May
Ιούνιος - June
Ιούλιος - July
Αύγουστος - August
Σεπτέμβριος - September
Οκτώβριος - October
Νοέμβριος - November
Δεκέμβριος - December

@ΗimeWakana: Both it seems.

Just finished watching Buru Day. Kalafina is life, Kalafina is love. Great vocals, great visuals, great atmosphere, great musicians and great girls. I'm speechless, emotions taking over.

Keiko running and pushing Wakana stole the show.

Question: I was always wondering but it now came back to my mind: To who are they talked when they say "yoroshiku onegaishimasu" in rehearsals ? Happens in YK rehearsals too.

Was it me or in signal half bridge chorus was playback ?

Liked all the songs but it felt like most of the time the strings were dumbed by the other instruments/vocals. You could barely tell the difference between these and the playback ones from past lives, most of the time.

I don't know why I keep looking.
I thought many of the songs were such a letdown. I am very much disappointed in Keiko especially. Wakana in some songs sings very smoothly which is good news except the high voice Natsu no Ringo and Hikari Furu (I'm sorry I have to insist on the screech at the very beginning).
where is my soundtrack special Kajiura?

George: There was playback, I noticed too that the girls were't singing sometimes during the Kajiurago too, or Keiko would sing, and then her voice would play afterwards (like an echo in a recorded song). I guess they wanted to make sure they kept the same feel as the original? But I don't understand, since they did great on others where this is not apparent.

I also don't care for that weird violin, since Konno can play so amazingly without it, does he insist on using it or is it suggested by Yuki herself? I am sure she had some say in this one, as it was a soundtrack song. But he did it again in Kimi ga ita Monogatari, but I would have preferred his normal playing instead. (I still enjoyed both songs though.) And I think Jr. is shown a little more in Red Day, but still, they could have shown the band members more. I also noticed the delay in the hanging screen! I thought it was just me. heh

I think the only two songs I like from start to finish are Seventh Heaven and Hikari no Senritsu. The singing is good and in HnS, the instrumental in the middle is very nice. The live at that point seems sincere too, as the three walk toward the crowd, in that instrumental part. just clapping hands. smiling. that would have been enough.

The rest of the live has no sincerity whatsoever. I don't buy the moves or fancy visuals at all. It is business as usual. I hope that Kajiura is working on something new, preferably a soundtrack. Otherwise, it's not gonna cut it (

listen to love come down. is that Keiko? or in Manten? That's why I always listen to mp3s first. You concentrate on the sound rather than the visual which is impressive. what a show. kalafina sure has moved a lot. maybe a bit too much.

I noticed the Greek months. face palm. @george1234

I seem to be trying to keep the happy tone down, sorry for that but it's my opinion :)

Was it me or in signal half bridge chorus was playback?
It was like this in the Consolation Special Final live too. It's nothing new - Wakana will sing the beginning of the chorus, but then during Keiko's parts the playback chorus plays instead.

The echos are from the manipulator. It's instantaneous record and playback.

After watching Red Day, I feel quite certain that Hikaru's aaahs in oblivious are lip-synced. Either that, or the editors decided to use playback over Hikaru's voice in the BD.

Red Day didn't seem nearly as impressive as Blue Day was. Besides the terrible dance choreography, the setlist didn't have as much energy. As impressive as Wakana's vocals were, I was bored from believe up until Hikari Furu. Only when HnS started did I snap back, only to get bored again until consolation started, which then woke me up entirely.

Favorites were most definitely fantasia, Lacrimosa (this performance was awesome, especially Wakana's "canta mia), HnS, consolation, Yume no Daichi (to me the best performance of the night), Eden and Alleluia.

But Blue Day beats Red Day by a mile. I had a lot more "wow" moments during Blue Day, and I didn't eyeroll nearly as much during their dances. I absolutely despise Te to Te to Me to Me and moonfesta's performances solely because of the dancing. Completely unnecessary.

Yuriko would steal the spotlight. XD

Even during Yuuka's lives everytime Yuriko sings she steals the show.
