「Kalafina Anniversary LIVE 2025」15th January Tokyo Garden Theater (NO KAJIURA INVOLVEMENT)

Now that I've watched them, and listened while doing other things, I found the concert enjoyable. It was much like a favs concert rather than a GH live. A expected, it's been 7 years, so some aging of their voices. Still, enjoyable. I did miss the flute though.

I did miss the flute though.
So did I. It is an irreplaceable part of the Kalafina sound. Not easily replaced. The cello was a bad substitute.
Her vocal stamina has really improved, and she doesn't take loud gasps of air anymore.
Oh it was so unnoticeable that I didn't notice. I will have to listen again. Shows that she's really been working with a vocal coach, on that at least.
Her tremolo has gotten noticeable worse as well, and I don't like like that they "smoothed" it out on the broadcast.
Yeah, it was really distracting in the bootleg. Especially in Hikarufuru (since it's high and challenging for her). The team that edited worked for their money to clean up both Wakana's and Hikaru's vocal slips. Those who watch just the broadcast or buy any releases will only have good memories.
Anyone else notice thay Hikaru gained quite a bit of weight here?
Oh, yeah. She's my girl but it was noticeable - she chubbier. 👶 You could also notice it in her arms when she was waving and doing the pumping fist to charge the audience for some of the songs. Keiko and Wakana in comparison almost don't seem to look any older (what are they eating?).

That was also a bad lighting setup for Magia, reminding me of YKL17. The red light and it's angle throws the bottom of the face into shadows and exaggerates facial lines, aging the face. It made Yuriko especially look much older. It's a dull look. The one in KajiFes was much better on the faces, as I recall.

And I thought I was the only one who despised the lighting choice during some songs. : )

That was most songs for me. Other than having 3 spotlights, the rest of the lighting is rough. Their make-up didn't work with that harsh overhead white lighting one bit. It washed out their faces and made them look tired and old. The warmer lights were much nicer on their complexion.

On a general note, their dresses (and make-up and hairstyles for that matter) in the promotional poster was much nicer than the dresses here. They didn't fit the girls well and the layering is plain odd. Plus the gold+white combo really clashed with the mostly blue lighting they used.

It was probably a live better seen in person than BD - not sure if a different production house was used since disbanding (it looks like it) but a lot of the camera work was very unflattering. The only nice shot was a side shot from stage right. Otherwise it was very flat, and since the background behind the girls were just stairs and musical equipment, the solo focus shots were just boring to look at. The wide shot of the whole stage is very nice though with the tree projection at the back.

IMO nothing from any YK-related recording has even come close to the lighting in Red Moon 2010. The lighting, editing, angles, atmosphere, everything is just so so good despite the simple backdrop and smaller stage.

I completely agree! Those promotional costumes (and hairdos) gave an elevated and powerful look to Kalafina and would have been much better used in the live, unless they were only designed for photoshoots. They should have used those as the base for the actual live designs.

Oh I totally agree with that. I didn't pay sufficient attention to really know why the whole live seemed so dull too!

The lighting on the stage. The lighting of the audience...

I will need to go back to find that live and watch it again.

I just saw that Hikaru is still following Kajiura's personal and staff X accounts. Couldn't confirm the same for Keiko since I don't follow her.

Oh you absolutely should. They really set the bar too high from the get go.

I think the next best (but still quite a step down) BD in terms of quality is Far on the Water Special Final in 2016. It was their first live since 2010 that no one had any vocal troubles that would have made the live less enjoyable to watch (After Eden had Wakana with her vocal issues, Consolation was actually fine but the production was terrible for the majority of songs (wonky camera work, editing and lighting), and THE BEST was mired with Hikaru's vocal problems). Far on the Water had a great set list, no one had any vocal hiccups and the stage direction was interesting. Lighting is a step down from Red Moon but it was much better than this 2025 live.

That's right, Kajiura's account also shows that Hikaru is still following her. But why doesn't Hikaru's account show that she follows Kajiura?

As for Keiko, she doesn't follow anyone's accounts. It's different from her Instagram, which still follows everyone as before.

I see. Keiko doesn't follow anyone. Bold.

I'm not Japanese. So I wonder what the difference in following between X and Instagram represents. Or Instagram refers to their actual relationship with each other, unlike X might express a working relationship🤔

I guess X/twitter for japanese is more like a blog to them where they announce things or follow friends and people they work with, while instagram is more personal ? (Kajiura never made one but she does have fb)

Yup. Such a shame since it's so underrated and funky. The whole FotW album is very underrated in this forum I feel.
I see.

It grabbed me from the start and I really liked their costumes too. Quite practical design (one of the best I’ve seen, no weird as asymmetry) and a nice dark color scheme too.
