I understand it as grunty remains sceptical about the quality of their live performance.
Yes, and having read grunty's posts before, I pretty much understand that too. But it's still not cool to rain on someone's parade. If grunty feels like he/she can call it like he/she sees it, then I certainly don't see why I have to hold back any expression of displeasure felt on my part too.
There are certainly better ways to say that you're not sure if they would be able to live up to my expectations but saying that "you feel sorry for" me isn't one of the better ways especially after I gleefully and happily posted that I was going to go. In another context, if I had just expressed a whole paragraph about my woeful existence and grunty had said that line, then it would be fine. But the deliberate attempt at pissing on someone else's happy moment is very not cool.
I've been to concerts, musicals, plays etc many times before and I've learnt to temper my expectations. Certainly, sometimes the performers can perform amazingly well and sometimes, not so. It's a live performance and I've seen enough of the Kalfina lives on youtube before to know that they sometimes just aren't quite there. But one doesn't go to a concert simply for perfect sounding music. If all I wanted was that, I might as well listen to a wonderfully mastered cd on my damn good audio system if I wanted that. I go for the experience of a live event, with all it's flaws or perfections come what may that day. I also go for the raw energy and the collective high one usually experiences at a concert. If gunty doesn't think it's worth it, it doesn't really matter either way to me but my friend in Japan went through some trouble to secure them for me and I was feeling all fluffy happy about it and raining on someone's parade is bad, bad form.
Whatever... I've typed my annoyance out of my system and I'm over it. Will not be back to comment on this anymore.
