Kalafina 4th album “Consolation”

Almost two weeks to release and Sony hasn't even updated the discography page on the official site or the Kalafina page on their website either... :uh..: possibility of samples before release date are looking slimmer and slimmer for me... :cry: I do hope they come out :knife:

EDIT:
I think its kind of a salad of these 3 songs, maybe with a bit of symphonia (as of the way Wakana sings the refrain), the strings dont blend well with the e.guitar and the drums :S

I probably need more listens to get used to it.
 
Consolation certainly doesn't sound very.... Consolating. :confu:

I can imagine it being pretty epic in Lives though, like Red Moon, but it sounds far too fast for a Kalafina song, methinks. Not a lot of buildup, the song just plunges straight into the drama. It's certainly different from Kalafina's past songs, but I'll have to listen to it a few times before I'll know whether I like it....

EDIT: You know, after another listen, I think this song would be much better if it was slowed down.

EDIT II: Consolation sounds like it could fit as an OP of a shounen anime.... Not sure whether that's a good or bad thing.
 
^ As for PV, I dont think the outfits they wear in the coverart fit with the moon the song, so I dunno how the PV would turn out, something like Magia probably.
 
I was expecting something like "Barairo Suisei Kageki Dan" from Ali Project's Etoiles, but this isn't bad at all. I love it. :nosebleed:

Agree with Glare about consolation doesn't sound consolating..at all.

I have to say that the Kajiurago in the middle(was it Hanae?) is the most epic part of this song.

I like the song, but not as whole. Hikaru and Keiko's part really gives a different feeling with Wakana and Keiko and Hikaru in the chorus (reffrain).
Eh, now that I've looped it some times, I don't like it.

The end feels so random. Something like kajiuran in Ongaku.

[edit] now that Glare said Consolation sounds like a shounen anime OP, I think that this song is 'to the beginning' supposed to be. This song really fits what Kajiura described the song was. Something manic and dark.

[edit2] Kajiura really should stop using that same guitar ending. I've heard it so many times already.

@Takashi-san : Some of your romaji transliteration doesn't match the kanji.

[edit3] This song feels like something between Mata Kaze ga Tsuyoku Natta and Kyrie for me. The way Wakana sings in the chorus feels more like the way she sings in Kyrie.
 
if you do vocal removing with audacity, this song become the most confusing ever from the ones I have done it so far, there's at least 4 layers of vocals (2 hikaru singing the same lyrics in different timing, hanae and I thin Keiko too) overlaping each other and the bass gets blended with strings in a strange way

I decided to refrain from listening to leaks/samples of the new songs until I receive the album, but from your comments it seems like Consolation isn't so great. :uh..:
 
ARIGATOU MINNA!! :shy: I really like this song!! :dote: :dote: It reminds me both Red Moon both Destination Unknown and I love Hikaru!! She's so powerful and the kajiurago at the end is perfect!!
 
Wow, I am surprised. It's definately different for Kala. I love the Kajiuran and Hikaru's part after, but not her parts before. It sounds like something from Fate, the 2nd ost. Wakana's part is awesome. I am really looking forward to the other songs now though. :dote: I do find similarities to Magia, and maybe red moon, but not adore. (The end is weird, sounds like something from Tsubasa.)
 
@Mace63: IMO Kajiura-san got too hyped about creating a new song and ended up mixing elements (upbeat with e.guitar, drums, bass, strings, chorus, backing vocal) from previous songs in a single song in an not so pleasant way. But Its that's my personal opinion. Maybe she needed to do a better mixing.

Thanks for clarifying, George. What you described doesn't sound like a song for my liking, since it sounds kind of overmixed but I can't really judge it without hearing it, I guess. Ah, well, there's still other new songs waiting to be discovered.
 
@George : I agree with you about the mixing part. Well, idk if Kajiura mixed the songs herself, but Kalafina nowadays songs are mixed rather badly.
Waiting for sample, because so far I don't really like Consolation...so maybe I'll rethink about buying the album. I'm still kinda regretting buying After Eden...if not for magnolia.
