^ Kotonoha's nice, but it doesn't blow me away like, say, sandpiper does as a ballad. I also think Hikaru's voice (or even Keiko's maybe) was better suited for Kotonoha and Kugatsu than Wakana, espeically kotonoha (I'm far from a musical expert but she sounded like she had to struggle a bit more than usual to hit some of those notes)

It's interesting...I actually was a lot more affected by Kotonoha on my first listen than I was by Sandpiper. It took me probably about two months to realize that Sandpiper wasn't as draggy and gloomy as I'd thought it was :XD: But I have to admit that I still like Kotonoha a little better...

You're right about Wakana, though. Although I think that sort of tense sound to her voice does fit Kotonoha, it does still sound like she was struggling. I've tried singing it myself, and it is pretty tough, so I suppose it's understandable.

^ I did a cover of Hikari no Senritsu once, but the person who dueted with me took it down along with most of her older performances... :rain:

Got some other stuff planned, though :plot:

:stars: :plot:

show us, ninetales :gimmeh: :plz:

for sandpiper it was in the second chorus when Wakana sings "mou anata ni kizutsuku koto mo nai..." - the way she sings it coupled with the strings in the background both really stunned and moved me :touched:

When I first heard Kotonoha I remember thinking that the way Wakana sang it sounded to me like she was on the verge of tears...or even singing whilst crying...because her voice sounds...er...how to describe...as if her throat is all tight and closed up...

I guess it fit in with the sad mood but at the same time I preferred Hikaru's smoother sound.

and After Eden's mood is mostly lighter and more 'everyday'.

Or so the official version goes... Although Magia, Sandpiper, Destination Unknown, Magnolia and Symphonia don't feel too "everyday" to me. :XD:

^You could say that snow falling also isn't very "everyday".
I'd say only Eden, in your eyes and Mune no Yukue are "everyday".

Eheh, I think I should've probably chosen a better word :imdead: I meant 'everyday' in the sense of the instruments, especially since Kala talked about actually singing with the live band in recordings. At least, that's how I understand it. There aren't many FX sounds or specialty instruments like harp (or even solo violin, actually) in After Eden, aside from the sitar samples in In Your Eyes, the oud in Sandpiper and a few other things here and there. That's one of the main reasons why I wasn't really comfortable with either Magia or Magnolia, since neither of them fit the main mood...while I like both songs, they didn't blend in with the album itself.

I agree with both of your statements wholeheartedly. I have grown to love sandpiper because of that line. :shy:

Yeah, I think Wakana struggles in Kotonoha, but that's not why I'm not fond of it. I just think it's kind of boring. It doesn't 'go anywhere.' :leaf:

Just noticed that After Eden LE is #6 on CDJapan's Top 100 of 2011 chart for J-pop albums~

:cheer:

Strangely, the RE is #42...

The LE came with that bonus from Madoka, didn't it? Maybe that explains the difference?

@Kei: I'd say the reason you find it boring is because this album is so drastically different from the previous ones. For me, Seventh Heaven has a very mysterious and fantastic mood, Red Moon has a Gothic and dramatic mood, and After Eden's mood is mostly lighter and more 'everyday'. Magnolia's the closest track to Red Moon's, so I can understand why you like it the most. All in all, I think that After Eden aimed for a much different dynamic.

Yeah exactly. I didn't like the change at all. The songs, however, aren't bad, they're just boring compared to the ones from Seventh Heaven/Red Moon. I love the lyrics, especially from Seventh Heaven (maybe because of their reference to Kara no Kyoukai). But the "new" songs don't have those special lyrics.

So, what about an instrumental Album, Kalafina? :ayashii:

Kalafina is a VOCAL project. If everything's instrumental, it'll be a Yuki Kajiura album, not a Kalafia one. :XD: That said, an instrumental album is what I've been waiing for a long time from Yuki. :shy:

But the songs are released by "Kalafina", so the instrumentals wouldn't be labeled as "Yuki Kajiura" songs. There isn't any instrumental album which is released in the composer's name.

^ I would love to have instrumentals of Lirica, Utsukushisa, Adore...but since Kalafina is basically made up of three singers, how would the album be marketed? Kala doesn't have a set band backing them up, just studio musicians, and they don't write the songs themselves...

If Sony would just give us two instrumental tracks per single

^I've wanted karaoke versions of all of their songs actually. So maybe have a 2 disc set entitled Kalafina Karaoke Edition, or something to that nature? Maybe their next cd will have solos by all three. :dote:
