Thanks, grunty.

Preview does not look promising. They all look good, that's nice. But overall, seems like it'll be another cheesy/boring Kalafina PV. :stupidbox:

Hmm..... :ayashii:

I wonder if it would be a better option for the LE to get Mouse Pad B, though. More variety to the collection. :XD:

lol. A lot of Japanese PVs and music videos are kinda like that, I've found, so I'd stopped noticing. I only really focus on the adorable outfits they're wearing because I'm so desensitized to that exact same field/house/classroom that every single PV takes place in.

I like the new header. :ayashii:

^I don't think I really agree with you there. A great problem of Kalafina's pvs is that they are almost like statues during the songs, no matter how fast-paced the song may be. They also almost never try to convey something with the pv. It's almost like a slide-show with sometimes a beautiful scenery, sometimes not even that.

^ Which is partly why I like making up ridiculous stories to go with them. :ohoho: But you definitely have a point, they definitely are rather uninspired - with the exception of the pretty outfits - but I kinda like them like that.

I have strangely unique tastes, though.

Seems like they try to match the PV more to the mood of the song than to its content. Of course, Kagayaku PV has a bit of plot-like staging (what with candles and burning curtains), and Magia tries to take it a bit further.
Still Seventh Heaven remains Kalafina's only PV with a visible plot, even if puppet-played. :XD: :dote:

Not for sprinter, at least. I don't even think the same applies for Seventh Heaven, not as far as the mood is concerned.

A lot of Japanese PVs are like that, or at least the ones I watch. They usually involve them just standing there trying to look like they're actually doing something, like this one. Kitamura Eri kind of looks like she's having a seizure and Imai Asami looks like she doesn't want to be in the same room as her, but...

A lot of PVs involve walking down a road/beach/forest or standing/sitting/lying in some kind of room/scenic setting that doesn't really tie in with the song at all while trying to look emotionally invested. I mean, you get the occasional one or two that tries to do something, but they're rare.

That's just from my experience, though, so don't take it as fact!

@Pontianak
I think it's really the artists you follow, because I've come across some that actually do create a nice pv, either because of the atmosphere or the history told in it. Do As Infinity and Tsukiko Amano are some examples that come to my mind at the moment.

Forgot to mention, but Ikimono Gakari also creates very nice pvs.

Why so many of them?! :omg: But I like that uniform they're wearing when they're having that odd dance-off on the roof.

Ah, it's completely possible.

I'll check them out. :ayashii: Is Tsukiko Amano the one who sang for Fatal Frame? I've never played that game but I like a lot of the vocal songs from it, especially "Koe".

Still liking the LE though I don't really understand the random out of focus/blurred areas...

Maybe to draw more attention to Kala by making them pop out of the background slightly? :confu:

Hi-chan looks like a queen :shy: Somehow she stands out more than the others...I think it's the hairstyle and the earrings. Wa-chan and Ke-chan have hairstyles similar to their usual ones, but Hi-chan looks different :dote:

EDIT

Also, preordered the RE CD and mook today~ :sohappy:

Re:

I'll go along with Ponti's point, actually. I think I've gotten so used to their totally wooden PVs (including the occasional FJ ones) that I don't have an opinion about them anymore.

The way I see it, anisong still doesn't command a large enough market to be taken seriously in Japan (unlike mainstream Jpop). As such, the the really good choreographers and directors are probably all snapped up by the bigger labels are artistes, while anisong artistes are left with the really crap/newbie ones that can only shoot stuff that are as good or worse than Youtube amateur musicians.

Now say that to Tsukiko Amano, that used to sell 10 times lower than Kalafina in all her career and still managed to create many nice pvs, even with the probable low budget. I don't like this excuse of being a anisong singer, I don't really think that's the case here. I would say that the director of their pvs is just plain incompetent and not imaginative at all.
