Kalafina 19th single "Blaze" ED for Arslan Senki Fuujin Ranbu

I was going to say, I checked CDJ today and there's like 20 editions. RE, LEA, LEB and then a limited DVD pressing????
probably an accident. But now we have a release date: August 10th, two days from my birthday and thus almost released at the exact same time as OL

Not an accident, Kalafina singles now have LE A (BD) LE B (DVD), RE, Anime (with DVD), Vinyl, so the limited DVD press is the Anime bver.

July and August are optimal seasons in Japan to release anime-related singles, considering the fact that people are more likely to spend money during the summer seasons (sorry, Southern Hemisphere folk D: not you guys!) and with the added bonus of summer vacation for students, meaning more anime digging time and summer job = money to buy singles.

You'll also notice they never release albums in the [northern hemisphere] summer time (only spring and autumn). That is probably because albums as a whole are rarely tied in with an anime series, whereas singles (for Kala at least) are 97% of the time related to an anime release (except progressive aka the best single ever next to oblivious).

Re/oblivious > Oblivious

Essentially yes, release dates are actually very important to the success of media releases, be it music, videogames, films etc. You've got to take into account all manner of things like national holidays (Christmas being the big one in the West, although other countries may well have similar scaled events with similar effects), plus the fact that people are more willing to spend money at certain times of year compared to others. On top of that, there's also the issue of competition as everyone's trying to do the same thing to get in on those seasonal bonuses.

Releasing a single or an album even a day or a week later or earlier could coincide with a release from a far larger, more popular group which can easily overshadow your sales and push releases down on the charts, if not outright force people to purchase either one or the other if they happen to be fans of both acts. Sadly Kalafina is not even close to the popularity of numerous other acts, so if their single release happens to fall within the general area of some of the major artists it'll hurt their ranking potential and sales.

As for anime tie-in singles, those will naturally come at pretty regular times each year as anime release schedules are based on a seasonal system, generally with one cour per season and often one opening and ending song per cour. Of course, it makes sense to release the single whilst the anime is still airing as that's when a considerable amount of people will be watching. I've seen a lot of series over the years and I can't even remember the openings or endings for most of them, so if they released their songs right now I likely wouldn't even pay attention to it unless it was an artist I'm already a fan of, whereas if they released the singles during airing (and most likely did at the time) when I was watching maybe I would've picked the CDs up.

Theoretically at least, I rarely actually buy singles other than Kalafina. Hell, the only other artists I've even downloaded singles for are ClariS, Aimer and Perfume despite liking a lot of other artists. I do know some people who almost exclusively buy anime theme singles however, so that's some evidence that the system works.

Hmm. Dunno when but a tracklisting might be coming soon (I'm guessing one of upcoming Wednesdays ;p). Shops are listing the single as 15m35s long (4 tracks so might have 2 b-sides). Anime edition is 17m11s (5 tracks, +TVsize I guess).

^ weird how an August single has info leaking out so soon while its less than 2 week from bokumachi ost and they wait the last week to update ... :(
thanks for the info!!
this also means that each track is less than 4 minutes, good :)

I'm wondering if there's going to be an ad that uses blaze at all, and if so, when. It seems like many ads for anime use the opening/ending songs in them, though it fluctuates on which song gets used. I know the site posted something recently that talked about Eir Aoi's song for the show, but it wasn't an ad. Hopefully an ad with either song surfaces soon since the show airs in a little over 2 weeks.

i hope this single gives us an entirely new kalafina considering into the world made no sense. when i think about blaze, i only think about blaze and the monster machines. i have a small child who loves that show. do you think kajiura was inspired by it?

:O you must be the first mother in this forum.

We dont know what she's inspired from. There are many songs with that title (Mizuki Nana's Eternal Blaze) and the Tsubasa Chronicles OP1, and other things too. I guess we have to wait for a Kalafina interview.

^ I dont know but they always release interviews to promote singles and releases in general.
either on TV or magazine or web.

The first thing I think of when I hear Blaze is One Light.
They're both light related, if you think of blazing fire.

I wonder if we'll get any information on it soon?
