For instance, oath sign sold LOTS (+80k if I'm not mistaken), so I could only imagine that Kalafina would do the same, if not even higher, since they have been getting a lot of attention lately.

That makes your point clearer... 80k+ for LiSA, but not for Kalafina? Even if LiSA has Angel Beats! in her portfolio, I doubt that was a defining factor. :uh..:

The difference is LiSA is very much of a normal mainstream singer singing for anime, tbh. It's easily more acceptable for the mainstream people to buy it. No matter how generic ttb sounds, it still sounds very Kajiura-ish and not too mainstream. Only niche market is targeted here.

THE iDOLM@STER dominating the charts is no surprise actually since the franchise is HUGE and fans would hoard the CDs regardless of whether the music is good or not. I'm an avid iDOLM@STER fan myself even though I honestly think none of those people whose CDs are currently up in the Oricon charts are genuinely decent singers (except for Hayami Saori). It's more fandom than anything else. :XD:
My point isn't the fandom, but it's iDOLM@STER's sale strategy. It seems like they release many different singles in one week and all got in Top10 (I'm not sure because I can't read Jap. detail... Are they singles with different tracklist or different vocalist..? You'd understand the situation clearer than me because you're their fan..:XD:), which looks so weird for me... Normally, artists release only one single per time and it may have many versions (Ex. 4 for TTB), but all are counted as one single. But it's different for iDOLM@STER release and I think their case doesn't happen that often..., right? :confu:. (My thought is if they had only one single like another did, the rank in the chart would change so much.)

@Yuki88: this is a realy important factor, I think. Especially because mainstream singers have their own fans, and if they release something for an anime their core fanbase buys it anyway, and then the anime fans buy it in addition. So it's a different case for Kala anyway :uh..:

Ah, you were talking about their sale strategy. Sorry, I misunderstood your previous statement. ^^;;;

In any case, yes, you're right in that their sale strategy does play a part in this. It's normal for them to release around three or more singles within the same period (in this particular case, on the same day) because theirs is a franchise which centers on music in general and they often release singles and albums in tandem with the release of their games (but not always). Moreover, they do a lot of character image songs and their franchise has many characters so yeah, you can imagine how many new singles and albums they have to pump out compared to other artists. And yes, all those singles there have different tracklists and different vocalists. As you mentioned, if they release only one single/album each time, they wouldn't hog the rankings so much but that doesn't necessarily mean they have less chances to get into the top number rankings. ^^

I've always said that what may seem generic for Yuki is still platinum quality in the terms of the industry in whole. :ohoho: Then again, it's miffing that mainstream will still top niche despite how mediocre the mainstream song may be and how good (and at the same time accessible) the niche song may be. Perhaps, some people are comfortable with just listening what they've always been listening and don't really care for anything more advanced...

Agreed.

I've had to explain to people that the artists I saw at Animelo Summer Live 2011 were niche artists, with the possible exception of Nana Mizuki (filling out Tokyo Dome on 2 successive nights is a pretty big niche), compared with say Kalafina's Red Moon concert at JCB Hall.

All the more reason I'm unhappy that Kalafina's appearance at Animelo Summer Live 2011 hasn't been seen on video... 25,000 fans and a great performance is surely worth releasing?

Yeah, it is. Speaking of which, I don't even wanna start guessing when we may get SAO soundtrack, whereas normally the first part would be due in September at most...

Don't worry...it seems that it's me who didn't state it clearly enough..^ ^ll... So it's their regular sale strategy...interesting... (haven't known about this before...:XD:.)

according to some friends, to the beginning was #7 on the m-on top 100 countdown yesterday (today?? or the 22nd, to make it easier) :ayashii:

As for their sales, I think that they won't get past Magia in first week sales, although maybe they'll get a better rank in weekly chart, looking at their constant #4 on daily chart (19, 20, 21 April)

I don't know if this related to their single sales, but F/Z is currently not the most-popular anime show in this season, unlike the previous season.

^ Thanks for the links elcaz! The girls look so lovely~ :shy: I like how Wakana's hairstyle has been more natural recently... :love:

I haven't watched season 2 but I saw the opening song in youtube; lame.
