Are those spammers bots or real people? I always assumed bots but then how would they be getting through the registration captchas? I'm always having so many issues with captchas it makes me want to punch the screen...
 
Is it possible to be a bit more tough on the registration for IP address ranges of habitual spammers, e.g. the ones starting with 39. or 182. ?

@Sudrien is it possible to flag certain address blocks for additional checking before allowing accounts in those IP address ranges to post? Or do we have to "nuke them from orbit", to quote the original Alien movie.
 
Catching up some, busy month as usual.

From the locations they are coming from, I'm guessing they are people, but with form-filling scripts ready. Human input is only used when needed.

It seems Firefox recently ripped out it unmaintined RSS code. Nothing about how wordpress serves stuff up has changed. Ive removed the user-visible subscribe link in response - it still in the headers, code looking for it will find it.

....I think the wordpress visual editor has changed. It's not liking these pages.

Might require browser cache be cleared to get the updated redirects to work correctly.

Even "nuking from orbit" is a paid thing, somebody has to maintain IP / Country associations. Good ol' AndyB gave me an option, though, so let's see if Pakistan can actually register anything at this point before the free service runs out.

Thanks, what seemed to be happening was a few people getting random addresses from their ISP and using those and the existing Xenforo set up not restricting multiple registrations from the same IP address or IP address range.
 
@Sudrien If I did a whois lookup on the addresses of the spammers and obtained the address block ranges, could they be blocked from accessing the main site and forum completely?
 
Sorry, the Cleantalk subscription lapsed for a few days, entirely my fault - thus the spam.

It's been renewed now.

Also, @george1234 - I un-set the image dimensions so it will adjust with the screen width. I think that was the header problem.
