I am still the last one to listen to this album  Will listen to it later today.

I didn't receive it either
And I don't want to listen to it before!

Maybe tomorrow...

Re: Re:

So I had blasted MATERIALISE on my car stereo a while back (that was soooo awesome! BWOONNNNGGGG!!) :XD: Gave goosebumps!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Okay, I take that back - thinking that Yuriko sang most of the higher parts. I guess I just wanted it to be her because she sang for Mai-Otome along with with Yuri Kasahara.

I never tire of hearing Mezame, really. It sounds differently each time. I like the drums and Koichi's guitar solo better this time. I wish that Konno would improvise. If he does, it's not a lot. It would be quite refreshing. We already know he's a fantastic, classically trained violinist, but a little improvisation wouldn't hurt.

I also like The Image Theme of Xenosaga II a lot and of course Nowhere, and others. I just wish I was there, or at least if they sell a DVDs. :uh..: THere better be a Vol. 6 DVD!

... Please. :plz:

BWOONNNNGGGG!!

Could someone give me an example of this? I fail to imagine it exactly...

Violin is a bloody hard instrument, maybe its' not THAT easy to improvise with it, unless you perform solo.

Well, there were DVDs for Vol2 and Vol4... I prefer to see a tendency. :plot:

Erm, in this particular situation, I refer to MATERIALISE's opening where it "zips" into a loud bell/gong sound.

She also has her general Yuki Kajiura signature "bwong" :XD: that appears in many of her compositions. I really have no way to describe it. It's in Mezame, say, in Best of, it's in 0:20.

I know it is, but remember that other guy - I think he played for a Kalafina live - he really worked that fiddle! There's a whole lot more out there who can also improv.

@Kowz: If Yuki "changed the violin solo" then there wouldn't be improvisation there, would it? That implies that he's still going to sight read what she wrote.

You have a point. Performing live in a band, one had better be careful with improvisations, because a band must play as one which means that they expect each other to play this or that tune at a certain moment.
And predetermined chanmges don't count as improvisations. Although the latter are quite possibly at rehearsals, and if approved, they may become part of the show. I bet that guitar frenzy Korenaga-san presents as a bridge to Zodiacal Signs was born during rehearsals. Otherwise... imagine Yuki playing the piano, Hitoshi Konno playing the violin, the girls singing the next verse... KABOOOM! goes the lengthy riff, leaving the rest of the performers pretty much dumbfounded. :ohoho:

It would have come today if someone had been home. Now I have to wait until after work tomorrow to pick it up. Really want to listen to Materialise and Voyagers.

Wakana's voice on MATERIALIZE! WAS PURE EPIC. Couldn't believe she could go all the way to the highest pitch. She just keeps amazing me even more. : ) :sohappy:

Wakana has been doing small opera style parts in many songs so far. But Materialize clearly showed her limits in that aspect. It's a difficult song, so considering that she did a really good job, but overall it was so-so. Absolutely no comparison to the "professional" version by Kasahara and even Yuriko managed the really high parts a lot better. As the song continues the performance got worse and worse as their stamina got less. It started hurting my ears and I was relieved when the song was finally over.

Concerning the improvisations, if I remember correctly Yuki Kajiura has stated that she only writes the notes for the violin, without dynamics etc. She leaves that up to Konno, so in a way he is improvising all the time. ^^

Well, Wakana took the lessons, but it doesn't seem like she went all the way to professional operatic vocal (although I don't know about Yuriko either). Well, inferior as she may sound to Yuri or Yuriko, she handles most of her parts just fine. Paradise Regained, Where the Lights Are, Bloody Rabbit, Lirica - they all were pure win IMNSHO. :dote:
