ritardando was serious about wanting to draw a 4 panel comic if we're doing this comic/art review of her works...but ritardando didn't actually suggest people to specifically draw a 4 panel comic. any kind of drawing would be nice.

George: I was just throwing ideas out there. Sorry. I did not quite understand yours so thanks for clarifying... but I still like her style now so that wouldn't work for me.

And... it's a birthday gift let's forget about the criticism a little bit. Who on Earth would want to be criticized on their own birthday?! Let's fill it with good things! <3

Precisely, you've gotten favourable responses in previous years because the gifts were heartfelt and meaningful. An essay's length of criticisms is the last thing that Kajiura wants to see on her birthday, especially if there are multiple entries.

Bouncing off of @ritardando 's idea a little bit, a portfolio wouldn't be a bad move either. It would spare us the task of putting a story together, and still retain that tapestry aesthetic. I haven't painted/drawn anything since my college years, so this could be interesting.
 
If i'm not allowed to say bad things then i wouldn't participate. But I still hope you all would be able to give something meaningful to Kajiura this year. Good luck!

Υou forget that we want to do this because we care and not because we hate her, do you know of any other way we can express our worries ? I think this is the best one.

I never take part in these (and I won't) but I came here cause of @sora's post in the fanclub thread. I'm with @Aelarion - this is the dumbest and most offensive fan present idea ever, lol. She didn't ask for your opinion AFAIK so you have no business telling Kajiura anything about how she should work or live her life! It doesn't matter that you "care" for her success! YOU ARE NOT HER FRIENDS! Discussing things among ourselves - in a place for fans - is a completely different thing.
 
I think i'd still join this year birthday present. I'll send the nice drawing for this collective project (no matter what i said here, i'm still her fan. I was just frustrated because she kept on letting me down... i honestly think KnK, El cazador and Tsubasa are some of my favorite anime soundtracks ever). I'd be lying if i say i don't listen to her stuff anymore. After all, this would be a good opportunity to revisit my drawing skill that i haven't used for quite a long time.


but i'd probably tweet her the 4 panel critic comic myself lol
 
@grunty its was just a suggestion. We can do a happy-go-lucky present again and make her happy on her birthday, but if her friends dont tell her whats wrong either, who will do it ? At the rate she seems to only be going downwards and that worrries me so much. We were never planning to interfere on how she lives so why did you write that.

The comic idea is good, but i think we should find which people can write and which can draw, before we start working on it.
 
@george1234 I understand your worry, but it's not something we can deliver on her birthday. Maybe just tweet to her in another ocasion.

I can draw, not professional level but I want give Yuki a good thing, I am fan of her work and I want to retribute her somehow.

Also a suggestion, we can gather funny ideas to elaborate the script, like Hikaru sleeping or playing games, Keiko working out and Wakana watching movies. Funny things about Yuki herself and the musicians ( some people in the forum follow her daily tweets so).
 
We've got just under five months to achieve this, but we still haven't made a final decision on our chosen project. Maybe make a poll?
 
Yeah, I would not want something like that on my birthday. And there are those of us who still love to listen to her works almost every day. Look at how far Kalafina has gotten! Maybe we can do something like that, as in our favorite live show... aka The Arena Live and how we felt about it at the time of watching/listening. We've been doing things for her birthday that have made her happy for years now, so why would we change that? Not all of us are disappointed. I'm not saying she's perfect or anything, but if we do a manga type thing let's try and make it happy. I cannot draw whatsoever... so I could contribute my "story," if we are doing the manga thing.

Any other ideas? Maybe with the Lives, saying a short message about what show we liked and which songs? We already did the favorite song thing, or lyric I guess? I forget... lol it's been so long since then. And then say what we are most hopeful for in the future, maybe more FJ or another show? Just brainstorming here.
 
Another idea I'd like to throw into the hat is customised Kajiura-themed birthday cards, using any preferred medium (PhotoShop/physically drawing/painting something, creating a collage etc). Since every member involved would have a unique idea, that could work too.
 
^ Last time we did a collage it didnt turn out well and we didnt receive thanks message from YK. What kind of card do you mean ? printed or digital ?
 
Hmm, maybe I didn't explain my idea properly.

Each individual participant makes their own birthday card for Yuki, using whichever means they prefer. If a someone prefers to use traditional art, then creating a card by hand might be their solution, or alternatively, if someone else prefers to create something via digital means, they can do that too. Ultimately, it's up to the individual as to how they go about creating their own personalised birthday card, but the variety of each entry is kind of the point, it keeps things interesting. :)
