Nothing seems to be as monumental as Ricordando il Passato, but I'll judge it after hearing the whole thing, and the album promises to be really good regardless. Track 4 hooks me most for now.

#2 TBH the verses irritate me. I like the rest though.
#3 Good thing I like Pepen no Uta and EXEC_EP=NOVA/. ^^ Awesome track. Ta-ta-ta-ta-taihen! PENALTY wo!
#4 It's nice but somehow doesn't really make me smile from its awesomeness. Maybe if the vocals were more blended with the instruments, I don't know. Something's off to me.
#5 At first I was prepared to hate it (no real instruments) but then I got really into it. Really nice track.
#6 Ciel nosurge OST when? Dat chorus! Love how short it is, shows that you don't need to always extend a song over 5 minutes. XD

Funny, I didn't like the samples at first but the album is quite nice. I'll give better impressions once I finish listening to it.

1. Nice. I haven't listened to much of Shikata but this songs sounds new to me.
2. Nice, but nothing special
3. WTF?
4. Nice again. Made me wanna dance, lol
5. Never expected it to be an instrumental. I could have loved it if there hadn't been those annoying sounds of some action in the background.
6. Is it my copy, or the song is kinda lagging at the beginning?
7. Uplifting, right
Overall, I can't say the album is bad or I didn't like it. But I won't be looping it crazily. None of the songs sound awesome to me.

I assume you mean the distortion effects? That part is just a referrence to the Ciel nosurge OP song, "Utanaki Okahe" (謳無き丘へ). "La Ciel" (ラ・シェール) is actually a vocal arrange of the ED music so, personally, I quite like how they linked the ED to the OP.

I have been following this ovas since it started in 2007. Just waiting a month between ovas was weird

I'm just a casual fan of Shikata Akiko (found her through Umineko) but I want to expand my horizons...these are what I have from her:
