They already did that on the PV, especially Hikaru...
Don't know on live performance, though. That's why I'm dying to see Seventh Heaven live.
I can ignore all songs and just straight watch it if the live performance was on this DVD

And I totally agree with you that "stage presence" could be presented not only by choreography. After all, looking at Kalafina's live, I could say that this choreographer didn't get into the songs depth and meaning. Just like what Keiko did in snow falling. If she is a good choreographer and get into the songs meaning, on the live rehearsal she should prevent Keiko from doing that hand-movement...and most of the songs don't have a compatible choreography either.

@Yuki88 : I used to enjoy the choreography in In your eyes, but when I rewatched and look closely on their dancing during the music interlude, NO. Keiko doing some weird bend movement and Hikaru doing some circling movement, but her movement is so stiff...

^ I think Keiko has a (bad) habit of singing with smiling face because of the warming-up she does. (refers to the mini interview video by Kawaii girl Japan)

^
Hikaru used to smiling while performing Lacrimosa, just see Red Moon (album) bonus DVD... and she is the one who smiling a lot in Seventh Heaven PV...

At least for me, in their nowadays performance, they could put a right expression on every song they sing. And for me, snow falling although has a sad lyrics and music, but have a positive meaning, so I don't really mind if they smile a bit. What disturbing is Keiko's hand movement, although basically her movement is on the flow with the music...

^ Huh, I must've missed Hikaru smiling in Lacrimosa...from the performances I've seen, she just makes dramatic faces and movements and then looks very solemn and fierce when singing the Kajiurago :confu:

Look at the video I mentioned. She totally smiling on Lacrimosa kajiuran part :)

And on one interview on a magazine, Hikaru is the one who has the ability to make the best facial expression so she is appointed to make the most expressive face so that's why she is placed in the right place (stage wise), Keiko is placed on the middle because she has the best look and appointed to smile to attract attention from the audience, so it can be altered to both Wakana and Hikaru. Wakana is placed on the left side because she is concentrating mainly on singing high notes (although I don't see any connection in this point) and something I forget..

But what if the girls themselves want to smile? I mean, they aren't idols singing happy songs, the music they sing is different so I don't think Sony or whatever is telling them to smile all the time, if they did, it wouldn't just be Keiko smiling but Hikaru and Wakana would have to obey as well.

A smile isn't always conveying happiness though, I like when Keiko smiles in Magia's bridge, it's powerful and hopeful. I like when she smiles in Te to te to me to me, it's pretty. I don't know, I just don't see it as a problem.

When it comes to the choreography, it might look a bit lame, but I think it's alright, they're not doing anything super complicated or anything, but their songs are on average much more upbeat than FJs, so it would be weird if they just stood around motionless to sing. Even if people listen to them for the music it doesn't mean that they just have to stand there and sing. Opera singers have to pay a lot of attention to intrincate details of their voices, but they still have to watch out for their own expressions and movements that improve the delivery and capitalize on the intention of each song they interpret.

I don't know if a "choreography" per se is needed, my gut feeling is that it isn't because they don't seem to coordinate too well and most of the times it just looks like they are doing their own thing with the dancing, which I'm alright with :ohoho:

I, for one, believe that whatever they do in the stage was pre-determined, so I don't believe they smile because they want to (unless they're talking with the public or something like that...no, maybe not even that).

I'm with you on this side, because there's an interview/article that says so... Although I do find that Keiko's smile in Te to Te to Me to Me is pretty, like the song :shy:

I don't doubt this. Everytime Keiko gets close to Wakana or Hikaru, for instance, seems to be planned. And I don't think they would remain really still while singing...I mean, who can be really still while hearing a song? I tap my foot on the ground to the beat of songs I don't even like, sometimes :XD: I think that if they move freely, it would be much more interesting than seeing those weird choreographys that don't get along with the songs in nothing.

^ well, the moving around seems part or the choreography :XD:

i dont mind with the simple smile, since a small smile is not a big factor. And it does anyway makes them looks pretty ...

what i mean was the half-laughing like they had to do in the last animax musix live. it was different than the usual simple smile. and then followed by the running, jumping, and shouting to the crowd.

i dont like when they have to shout to the crowd, it disturb the melody of the song :XD:

so i got my bluray & pamphlet today :sohappy:

i have finals, so i couldn't watch the whole thing, but omg magnolia :nosebleed: :nosebleed: :shy: :shy: and i really like the oblivious in this live. :sohappy:

^ lucky you were home. mine's waiting for me T___T

so excited to hear magnolia now. curious about kugatsu and destination unknown...hikaru better not mess it up :knife:

Keiko already picked up that smiling habit pre-FJ live vol. 2. In that one she smiles so widely at times she looks scary xD

BTW, the FJ girls also tend to smile and face one another. Not as often as Kalafina, but it's not a Kalafina-exclusive thing.

Seriously, her smile during Liminality was creepy.

Umm...I'm not much annoyed with their choreography in In your eyes...it's quite fine for me, and their smile habits is yes...it's a bit annoying when it appears in some songs that they aren't supposed to smile in that kind of song....

I also feels that when Keiko smiled in an elegant OST songs like Liminallity, the world, etc....it doesn't just look scary or creepy, but Keiko looks like the female last boss who still smile in the devastated scene or sth. like that...(me.....*run away before being kicked by Keiko fans army*)

However, I think that they 'tried' to keep smiling in happy song and esp. in In your eyes, I feel that Hikaru's smile looks so fake....(sorry HiChan.... )

Jasmin!! :sohappy: You must share your thoughts with me once you finish watching it :dote:

Mine is shipping along with my pamplet, poster, and towel(??).

I could care less about the choreography. First they're criticized for their live singing and now their choreography??? No one sounds perfectly in tune bouncing around the stage. You make a slight sacrifice for one or the other.

I remember when Keiko tried to get close to Wakana at Anime Expo and she almost got slugged in the face during Wakana's hand gestures :ohoho: So perhaps not every action on stage is planned.

Well, did anyone here say they had to become Britney Spears or anything like that? I don't recall this at all. What was mentioned is that they could improve their stage presence, with me and ritardando saying that stage presence means a lot of things, not only giving a bizarre smile or waving your body like crazy during a slow song.

I never ctiticizied their lives :ohoho:

:hero:

I only mentiod it catch my attention the fact they have to have a choreography, which I think they will be better If they don't do choreography and just stand still and act normally to focus in their vocal like in YK live. :XD:

Unlike the ussual criticcizers I want to watch their live in the first place because I have interest to hear their real viice out of studio. So, I enjoy their live performance. :hero:

:XD:

Btw, I don't have any complain on how they were or how they look in YK vol. 2 or Vol. 4...

Those are my fave Lives of all time  :dote:
