I don't like the choreography particularly, but I don't think the choreographer has any say in how they sing :XD:

The way you shaped your expression or in this case,mouth, affects the sounds you produced when you sing, isn't that so? So I think because she told Keiko "You have to make a cute-fall-in-love-girl face!" and in result, it affects the sound Keiko produced.
 
^ I don't know if the choreographer has an influence over their expressions, but if that's true, than you've got a point :plot:
 
what catch my attention is Kalafina's choreography often requires them to smile and and making laugh expression while singing. there were also dancing,running, and jumping around the stage while singing.

This is clearly effects their vocal.

one example is their performance in Nowhere in the last animax musix live. Look how they have to run around and make the half laughing expression while singing in the same time..

imagine how can u pronounce the music lyrics and control ur vocal while ur mouth have to smile like this all the time :

In Red Moon live, some of the smiles seemed out of context, even. Like the titular song - do the lyrics leave room for a smile at all, mood-wise? I understand that it's done mostly to establish a positive connection with the audience, but isn't it easier to do durung the bridges?

I was thinking about that too! I mean, my physical condition isn't very bad (rather about average, I guess), and I'd be panting after half a song, they dance and sing and smile for hours!!!

Not to mention the high heels... At one of my choir performances, we had to wear high heels and stand up for about 15 minutes while singing... my feet were hurting after that... and yet the Kalafina girls manage to wear high heels AND dance for hours!! :omg:

I do remember reading that smiling while singing helps you to produce a note that's more on key, but it's never worked for me...it just changes the way my voice sounds.

^I am the same way, although when I sing Kalafina songs I tend to smile. heh I am not going to watch the video either, since mine will be here soon. I like in your eyes though, at first I did not, but then it grew on me. :dote:
 
Awwwww Keiko was so cute~! And I don't think Hikaru was that bad...she was better than expected...in my opinion, pretty good, actually... :ayashii:

And lol love how they just whipped off their longer skirt bottoms with such flair :XD:

I guess there ain't no room in nowhere for smiles...I guess that's SMEJ producers or whatever that want them to be always smiling lovely, dancing and stuff...speaking of that, how do we get their choreographer fired? :XD: And lol at troll face Keiko. Zoa picked up the right instant to print screen :ohoho:


And I had nothing against Keiko's "cute" voice in the recording, but in the live, it was kinda exaggerated and even got a bit off. I remember when I discovered FJ and fell in love with her powerful voice, like in synchronicity... :shy:

Just want to say that in your siggy you have the utahimes in wrong order, if you want them to be in order of carreer-with-Yuki it should be

Yuuka, Kaori, Keiko, Wakana, Hikaru, Yuriko Kaida.

Because she first started with Yuuka on Madlax, then introduces Kaori and Keiko on Tsubasa Chronicle, then Wakana on Hokuto no Ken. After was formed Kalafina with Hikaru (and Maya) joining Kalafina, and then FJ was refoermed with Yuriko joining the group. :XD:

Ok, someone teach them that not all songs ask for smiles. Personally, this is getting on my nerves.
Keiko's dance/whatever that is during her solo was ridiculous

Pretty forgettable performance, at least for me.
