Yuki Kajiura's Soundtracks [pre 2008]

sorry for a double post but I have to kill the taste.

ok. Tsubasa OST IV:

1. once upon a time there was you and me : hands down, my favorite opening Eri Kajiurago track. you hear the exquisite calming voice of Eri and lovely lovely strings&flute and then it hits you. also different layers of Eri's voice add so much to the song. an all-time fav.

2. my dear feather: so sad but sweet. love the mid-section keyboard, drums, strings!!

3. you shall overcome: hear our prayer-esque. I like it, it's very captivating.

4. prove yourself: an all-time fav!! and get with the church bells and windy sounds in the middle.. terrifying. beautiful.

5. broken sword of justice: another all-time fav. the strings and piano just sound so good.

6. darkness comes & uninvited guest: similar to Xenosaga III's music when Shion learns the truth mwhaha! very simple, very effective strings.

7. requiem for the evil : Eri's voice fits this song so much. I can imagine a tribal dance around a clearing with drums etc. so good.

8. run for your life: I like this one a lot :) one of the first Kajiura tracks I listened to so I feel nostalgic toward to the song.

9. optimistic: no. pass for me. Eri's just randomly aieeeayyaa ing imo.

10. a whip and a witch: so celtic, love it!

11. ring your song : an all-time fav!! love. and a perfect way to end it. Eri's voice is truly mesmerizing here.

there. if I have to order the osts from most to least liked: II - IV - I - III.

what music.

Yesterday, I listened to The Velveteen Rabbit. It's such a warm and peaceful soundtrack. I wish she would do more little side projects like this.

The Velveteen Rabbit OST is one of my favorites along with the KnK OSTs, I always go back to it and listen to it many times, it's so peaceful and nice and it gave birth to one of my FJ favorite songs : Velvet no Inori (I love both the original and FJ ver.)!

I havent listened to future soundscapes IV as a whole...will listen to it maybe later. Future Soundscapes is the only good thing coming out from TRC animation lol

SAME
the sudden change halfway through has brought me to tears numerous times

I listened to Future Soundscape IV right after I listened to ordinal scale soundtrack (someone has kindly uploaded the soundtrack to youtube) and I honestly feel so sad because of the disparity in quality...

once upon a time there was you and me is such a masterpiece, I completely agree. I think it's my second favorite kajiurago track from Future Soundscapes, because ship of fools is (one of) the eternal love(s) of my life.

Future Soundscapes...what a great soundtrack albums!

The interesting thing about once upon a time (which I just realized I mistitled in the guide) is that it was never used in the TV series (like optimistic) so that makes you wonder - was it done for the show (just never used) or the CD specifically?

my dear feather used to be one my favs when i first discovered the soundtrack, must have heard it few thousand times. It and once upon a time there was you and me, have a similar structure, as in that they go from calm to scary/sad

That's surprising. Were there any places in the show where you thought it could've fit?

I dropped Tsubasa around episode 10 of the first season (whenever the lake/underwater/whale/whateveritwas episode happened?) so I wouldn't know. They used it 3 years later in Shunraiki OAD.

Wow grunty you have such a wonderful attention to details! To be able to memorize the tracks and whether it's used or not in the actual show...i'm impressed.

I know that but to be able to list it and to have the patience to do it is really admirable. I wouldn't be able to do that lmao.

Thankfully @Kowz was willing to help. Though he had to wait like 2 years for me to actually get it over with.

Before this thread gets derailed again...

SHIN KIMAGURE ORANGE ROAD WEEK START!
Next week: EAT-MAN

If anyone wants to watch the shows too and thinks that maybe 2week periods would be better do tell. I'm actually still in the middle of watching KOR myself (the TV series is so long that I'll probably jump straight to the movie after a few more episodes)...
