Kajiura is always active/busy these days which is good.
 
Crown Handler menu music update. Thanks to nyancats rip uploader for the most recent one. The first 3 are transcoded from bluray files DTS audio. They are super quiet so I added track replay gain - hopefully your player uses it to make it louder.

I was kind of meh about this latest one until the cello came in... then my ears perked up (amusingly I think the cello recording is from movie 3 the original series' "a noble man")... and the track kept my interest until the end.

And so we continue the wait for the full OST release in 2028. Or at least fingers crossed for 2028.

For those impatient of sampling the OST, here's a downmix of the 4th movie's 5.1 audio without C and LFE channels. (Including low effort normalization and a patch in one place.)
I did not parse the batch for repeats from TV OST or the previous Crown Handler movies but the missing 16th file is the og "shadows and fog" and the missing 18th file is the 4th menu music from above.

This is going to be such a weird soundtrack for me whenever it's out. Like, I've no idea how much of it is new, remixed and how much is re-utilized solos from TV series OST. Not to mention how much they seem to be reusing tracks (or parts) between movies.
 
I refuse to entertain that thought. ;p

BTW to stay on a more positive train, Lantis somewhat recently started adding stuff to ototoy with international purchases available, which is lovely. There's some backlog stuff too but sadly no PriPri TV ost yet...
 
Ugh. I'm going back through the earlier movies... FictionJunction feat. shuri "fairy game" is so gud.
Really hope Kajiura gives this track and shuri a chance later. I think I mentioned my copium before: release the original on OST but also re-record a modern version (?~Japanese edition) with shuri again for an album... Also another song with shuri for this project.

Are there songs that shuri had sung with Kajiura in the past?

I searched for her on the lyrics section and couldn’t find her name.
 
Only "fairy game" (FictionJunction feat. shuri). Princess Principal Crown Handler movie#2 insert song. Unreleased since 2021.
Those quotes are what I'm guessing some of the lyrics are from movie audio.

Hmmm.

Maybe the anime not being as popular was part of the reason it was not released?
The song has this city jazz feel, including with Kajiura's playing, and the sax. Fitting since Princess Principal's music is jazzy.

It would be an interesting song to play in a YKL live. Maybe if they have another concert focused on the anime's music, Kajiura can finally bring shuri onto the stage.

Anyhow, don't think we'll ever know why exactly the song is not out yet.
Maybe the song didn't warrant a full single. Maybe this 2m30sec is all there was to the song (at the time or ever). Maybe Lantis (who are handling PriPri music production) was not doing digital singles at the time (I don't know). Maybe Kajiura did not have releasing FictionJunction stuff on multiple labels figured out (FJ feat. LiSA was already out on Sony). Maybe someone at either labels blocked some deal.

And someone made the decision to not release the OST in parts so we continue our wait.

Menu music #2 is "inspired" by SAO's Delete, hehe (which if i remember well was inspired by Shizukana Yoru ni)
@grunty, wasnt the cello at menu music #4 2:24 melody from knk 5?

overall the musics are nice but they dont stand out at all... They feel like those were were getting for SAO before Alicization came out.
