oh wow open the curtains definitely caught me by surprise. in a very good way. KAJIURA SHOULD DO OPERA, MUSICAL and in general THEATER work. Would be so cool. that SINISTER PIANO ! ! ! so lovely.

Remi in "in early spring" is sublime. such a clean and smooth delivery.

The chorus in I kill and I give life is so powerful.

why I fight ~EMIYA~ spring song 2020 version IS EXCELLENT MUSIC.

she holds the black holy sword - that beginning is so haunting and I like Yuri's voice the best in this track - it is the most audible. In the other songs, sometimes her voice gets muffled and I can't quite get what she is saying.

What a quality live. The strings not being playback makes so much a difference. Kajiura's piano sprinkled here and there is the making of the show of course.

ring your bell lists Kajiura, it must be her in the very beginning. but then Fion will be Fion. I even enjoyed Lino Leia, I think. though the song is longer than it should be.

As it was meant from the start but got lost along the way due to Akatsuki no Kuruma's success...
She’s never going to be caught in an untenable situation regarding her own IP ever again, I feel. She learned this the hard way.

Whether regarding vocalists or musicians.

I’m really hoping for her new studio to be the birthplace of new, experimental and atmospheric music, like we all know she’s capable of creating if she’s inspired.

I actually like the current format more as it forces her to work with many different people (just like before Kalafina) instead of being stuck with 3 or 4 . What i dont like is the production rate. Lets hope with the new home studio it goes up :)
I agree.

She does compose a lot (to the point of getting pigeonholed) for specific anime genres (magical girls to be exact).

That's why I'm glad she wrote for Hyde (male-only dual vocals, no female chorus) which is also for a Shonen anime, and a character song for a villain (and a dastardly one at that)! This song would require 2 male vocalists if she ever invited him to a YKL or she's just do a female FJ cover???

Yes but once you hear one of his soundtracks its like you ve heard them all 😅 the tracks dont have much series attachment like with Kajiura maybe cause they re less melodic. You could get one track from AoT or Aldnoah and use it for 7deadly. Its a better situation with his songs though.

She prefers anime with female protagonists mostly and works with mostly female vocalists in general, but there are exceptions like Bokumachi or SAO.

Idk about the Hyde situation, after all these years im still waiting for a "Shoot!" Cover in YKL 😅

As if Kajiura detractors don't say that about her.

I don't know what she prefers but going by your quote
Elemental Gelade cries in a corner.
Tsubasa cries in a corner.
Hokuto no Ken cries in a corner.
Fate/Zero and El Melloi cry in a corner.
PandoraHearts & Vanitas cry in a corner.

^ Yes but look at the themes inside those soundtracks. Most have themes about the girls of the series rather than the MC.
syaoran doesnt have a theme but sakura does (tsubasa / you re my love)
the dude in Pandora doesnt have but the girl there does
Hokuto feels like she was forced to do it because even if its an excellent soundtrack everything that followed it is still unreleased ^^;
I havent watched Elemental yet.
Fate/Zero has themes for most of the characters, but most coverarts etc have saber, cause its saber route. (Also in FSN there is Saber route (regular Fsn) Rin Route (UBW) and Sakura Route (HF) all focusing on the girls

OK, OK. You made a solid point. Maybe my Kalafina bias is showing again.

Yes, I was not complaining per se. I just don't want her to be limited in her impact.

True.
I wasn't responding to you though. XD
I made the original assertion, so I guess I felt motivated to acknowledge your point. I mean, I completely forgot Hokuto no Ken.

To me personally, Sawano appears overrated and there's not much passion and care put into his works. He composes strictly to support the action but not in a way that rewards an independent listen. Generally speaking.

Although the second disc is full of my favorite music, I really struggle with the first disc's music. Plus, I don't have a Blu-Ray Disc player. I'm a big fan of Spring Song's music but often it's tough for me to even finish one song when I've tried the other two OSTs.

Some songs are more action-oriented definitely, with electronic and heavy beats, but he also has excellent ballads and gentler pop songs. He's a really good composer, so don't just focus on the action songs.

I know he has some signature breakdowns and drops in the way he writes which lend themselves to the action genre.

To each their own :) I honestly tried to like Sawano, I've listened to dozens of his works, but for me he's surpassed by many other composers. I do have Ao no Exorcist Original Soundtrack 1 by him and that one is a masterpiece. 👍

True. I get you.

I first knew of his existence from the tracks he wrote for AoT which were impactful to me because I first heard them in the context of that anime, and the gripping characters, scenes, and contexts.

Also got to be a fan of his singers on those songs - Gemie, Tielle, Eliana - with Mizuki rising to the top.

He's not as compositionally varied as Kajiura in the breadth of his music, I will say, think he hasn't had as long a career, to be fair.

You may be right and I respect your experience too.

My focus has been on his soundtrack music not his pop stuff, I've not given that part of his output the attention it might merit.
