Yuki Kajiura LIVE vol.#21 - 60 Songs (July 26 - August 24, 2025)

Keiko and Kaori has that same energy like EMIKO when Keiko and Kaori were in their early 18 to 20s especially in the YUKI KAJIURA LIVES #2 to #4.
When they continued with their Kalafina projects, they always had to act prim and proper and choreographed on stage.
EMIKO is naturally energetic too and such a rockstar too. Not only that, she tried her best to fill the role that Keiko left in such a short amount of time.
She can sing Keiko’s parts well but can she replace Keiko? No? Same as Keiko. Keiko cannot match Emiko vocally and each has their own strengths.

Emiko was not trying to be like Keiko. Emiko was just being Emiko. Even in her tiktok. She’s always like that. She didn’t outshine the other girls. She’s just young and has that full energy. Lino Leia was like that too in her first live. She moves like a veteran and she was confident despite being new.

I am surprised by Emiko’s versatility ❤️ I am enjoying her songs a lot. A breath of fresh air. The new take she has from each lead roles for Kajiura music is great. And I love the energy she brings to the KAJIURA FAM.

I wonder how they will sound like if Keiko comes back. They would sound so good. But yeahhh. EMIKO RULES!!!!

Oh yeah, they were always spontaneously jumping around and rocking out, contrasting with the diva vibe of Wakana and Yuriko.

I agree. The unending energy is the same, and she's also more of an actor, which reflects in her doing lots of imitations on stage and on her socials. She doesn't just sing. She's also a quite good DANCER, and could switch up to a proper choreographed pop/dance routine if needed.

ngl I'd rather Keiko not to come back. from economical stand point doing YKLs aren't as profitable as her doing Kalafina, 1 Kalafina anniversary live last year definitely got her (or should i say the Kalafina ladies) more money than her touring with YKL for like 2-3 series of tours lmao. she made her decision and she has her own conviction. she came back to YKL on her own and she left by her own choice. despite her openly saying that if it's possible she wanted to do both, it's implied that if she moves forward with Kalafina then she had to let YKL go and she made her choice.

let's not make things awkward and hard for everyone. honestly if you're more of a Kalafina/Keiko/Wakana fans then just let go of YKLs. it's pretty easy, why bother listening to music that's sung by people whose voice/stage attitude/whatever you don't like. it's sad (not really tbh) and everyone should move on. i'm messy so i watch YKL21 out of curiosity but to me it mostly sucked (due to the song choice, Junna, and the awful costumes. legit the only enjoyable part of the concert was destination and Kokia section) so i watched it once and let it go. and again, this is personal preference, all FJ songs ft emiko/kaori/lino leia and the songs for LiSA are not exactly stellar and mostly boring or even awful.

and i still stand by my opinion that Joelle doesn't fit YKL because she's doing practically nothing if the setlist doesn't have English songs in it. (edit) poor Yuriko kinda got shafted because some of what used to be her parts got given to both Joelle and Lino Leia. Leia is still a shit singer to me because her lower harmony in nostalgia are mostly air lmao. by the time nowhere came Yuriko was already looking very bored lmao. dare i say emiko actually contributes more to YKL and her music in such short amount of time she's been in.

I just saw Emiko dancing in front of everyone in black rose could count as standing out lol but it's her song, her moment to shine. but then she follows the FJ pecking order in eternal blue and provides the alto parts well.

oh wow I did not mind Lino Leia's voice at all this time - I think she's improved her form.

hmm Joelle's solo in toki beginning .. .sounds more nasal this time. hmm was she sick ? - it gets better. I think Kaori wasn't sure of the lyrics, I sense a bit hesitation (lowering volume lol)

kioku no mori - Joelle turning full operatic. nice. I could not find a GLISS lol. I admit I do zone out now and then.

kimi ga mita - Joelle doing low notes ??!? nice! ASCA sounds so natural.. with more emotion. ok this is a banger. could be my favorite song as a whole so far.

nostalgia - hmm not sure if KOKIA works here. hit or miss for me. seemed to drag a bit rather.
Kaze no - This is KOKIA's song. but even this I'd say I heard better. She sounds too matter-of-fact, singing just words, there is no smoothness if that makes sense.

aikoi - eh JUNNA yikes. nah nah. skip. it's as if her vocal cords were shaken with an earthquake.
umi to shinjuu - much much better. so much fun. another great comfort song.

lighthouse - man LL is very good. Yuriko's highs were sublime, perfect.

nowhere - haha LL lip syncing :) KAjiura SMILING with her head up. love. FILLED WITH ENERGY. could be one of my fav nowhere live:)
zodiacal sign - Kajiura classic is a Kajiura classic . nuf said.

what... is Joelle doing ? ... serenading in front of Konno? but the violin is in the wrong hands JOELLE !

awww Rie's flute solo is love too. Hope she gets better soon.

parade - I still find Joelle a bit nasal here too. hmm I dunno.

the chorus in the background in Lisa's song : creppy much >? I love it. though Lisa's live singing is a hit or miss for me. too much shouting - the ups and downs of her voice I can't get it sometimes.

stone cold - LL and Emiko running to each other awww.

Yuriko's talking with the audience sounds so cuteee.. everyone's so redolent. except Sato, that's his aura though xD

man this live was PACKED. Kajiura's final bow. so genuine. what a live, so sweet. perhaps not the most interesting, or original but it was one of the most bonding lives I've seen in recent years.

I can't buy it but I can see how one might be tempted.

also re: Emiko. Objectively she is NOT overshadowing anyone. It's only in black rose and that is understandable.
Subjectively she may overshadow Keiko's memory but having watched MOST of the footage, she is perfectly fine, blends with everyone, smiles with everyone.

re: Joelle. She is underused for sure but she does add the necessary highs and harmonies with Yuriko. I wouldn't dismiss her as unfit for YKLs but everyone has their own favorites:)

If you like Joelle doing that part the way she does it in ykl21, that's fine. I don't, at least as of now. :)
 
I see, I may have put too much meaning over your comment lol , I am indifferent, it's nice enough, not jarring. nothing that makes me cringe unlike Junna in aikoi for example which is a no no for me.
 
I wuz just liveblogging and that one moment took me out. I don't like it (as of now). I went back to previous lives and Yuriko does do a fast one there in ykl16 (but not in og or ykl4 or ykl11) but it's nowhere near Joelle's balloon there in ykl21. XD
 
off topic start : Some time, one of these days, I need to seriously go through my archives because it is a mess and if I want to go back to anything I need to sift through gazillion folders and files. Kajiura alone is hundreds of gigs of music :o

I thought about that too! My first time watching anything Revo/SH was TTTE3 and Mari stood out to me immediately, even without context. Her voice, measured or dramatic (acting/theatrical) movement mannerisms, always being in character while on stage (never just moving casually), and looks/expressions made a lasting impression.

Emiko having a stage/theatrical background and her personality/character makes sense with her energetic stance. It could feel to someone like she's trying to overshadow the others on stage, but I am sure she's this expressive off-stage so the ladies know that's just her, like a VERY playful younger sister (with LINO LEIA being the quieter younger sister). For me, the most important thing is Kajiura and the other singers/musicians vibe with Emiko and play off her energy for the audience enjoyment.

I actually just came back to share how much I enjoyed Lino Leia and Emiko interacting on stage. I was just watching now Lighthouse. Even in Blackrose, we see Lino Leia bowing when they are singing onegaishimasu, which compared to the amount of movement we used to get it really caught my eye. Honestly as long as it doesn't look like the others don't know the secret choreo, I think they are fine.
