Yuki Kajiura LIVE vol.#21 - 60 Songs (July 26 - August 24, 2025)

Watching YKL#21 again... :dote:

What a start, and trio of songs! Emiko stealing the hearts of so many with this show! Her lead on "Destination" especially being in the mid-to-low range was SUCH A SHOWCASE of the strength and smoothness of her voice! Look at Kajiura looking lovingly at Emiko as she ended the song with expressiveness and command!

Emiko+Yuriko's 2-part blend is sweet! So is the 3-part of Emiko+Joelle+Yuriko!

Yuriko's cheerful grin at so many points! 🌹

Masterclass from KOKIA on "nostalgia"! I was amazed at how everything she did vocally was with the mic at the same distance from her mouth! She used masterful technique to do her dynamics and resonance changes and ornamentations, and even vibrato without moving the mic closer or farther from her mouth! Wow! All the control is internal. Old school classical goodness.

The only time I saw Akagi really light up during the concert was when Kajiura was describing and teasing about the qualities of KOKIA's voice and style and Akagi was agreeing with her, smiling and nodding.

Also at the end of "kaze yo fuke", KOKIA held that last note at piano (straight tone) then gradually to pianissimo then the slightest vibrato and back to straight-tone pianissimo to end. Sweet messa di voce! (Reminds me of a similar thing by Dimash the first time I heard him sing "SOS").

"aikoi": LINO LEIA impressed with taking the high notes for the chorus (Joelle sang low harmony) while dropping to low harmony for the verse with JUNNA.

"lighthouse" made me appreciate the fuller figures from everyone on stage. 🌹 I also like how height-wise Kaori is not too lonely up in the clouds since Emiko and LINO are closer to her in height, so we have the smaller ladies on the left (Joelle and Yuriko) and the taller ones on the right. 😁

Hmmm. I can kinda see the issue with Kaori's short lead in this song. She kinda took away the shine - with her delivery and belting tendencies - from LINO at that point, making one feel like she should just continue on from that point, but at 1:29:01 LINO's strongest belt in the whole show and it was nice and steady.

Emiko headbanging during the bass+drums section of "zodiacal sign"!

What a start, and trio of songs!

I again have to compare Emiko's vocal style to that of Keiko. Emiko uses a forward resonance against Keiko's more inward / swallowed vocal production (especially when she’s going for dramatic effect and to make her voice sound bigger and deeper). Her attempt to sound brighter and not forward often resulted in what I would call “un-shaped nasality”.
