Yuki Kajiura Live vol.#20 (June 2-Aug 3) & ～Asia Tour 20th Special SETLIST～ (Nov 2024)

To be honest, LL and rito both did decent to great on Obsession and Senya ichiya respectively going by this recording. I was expecting a tragedy and it wasn't that. Maybe LL shouldn't be singing higher than Obsession? v( '')v (Re: ring your bell ubw live. Though I do think there's ring your bell parts in both this recording and the one from Friday where she did better than ubw live, and then other parts which are still a big fail.)

I think I like this instrumentation version of Obsession more than KajiFes? At least from what I remember in my head. Or maybe not seeing the boring visual helps, lol.
 
I also should go back to KajiFes and re-listen to Obsession because I remember hating it and for some reason I'm really not hating it in either of these bootlegs...
 
Definitely LINO is improving but Hikaru goes worst. Sorry but it's dificult to me listening to the full audio of Magia.
ring your bell is way better (or we can't hear because of the quality lol).
Obsession vocals are indeed better.
Senya Ichiya, same as Kajifest. I didn't notice nothing better or worst. But I miss the failed violin note of Konno in Kajifest LMAO!

I agree and agree again! Completely kills the flow, especially since it's so difficult to nail as a duet expression. And they do it as if it's part of the original, which it isn't!

I don't know where the inspiration came from but it's a delightful and playful section from her. Unmatched in that regard.

Hmmm. I'm probably leaning to that opinion myself. She stays less nasal at a lower range. She's really not strong for proper soprano ranges.

Strong cords that lady's got. And she was playing Kaori roles in some songs, especially in ITLOTUTM where she did the Kaori and Keiko epic ending! I was listening while reading and suddenly realized I wasn't hearing Kaori's voice! Joelle's becoming a utility player for Kajiura in FJ.

Kalafina songs are waiting. ;) I know it's not going to happen as long as YK & Hikaru & Keiko are on good terms but oh how the fandom would implode, heh.

Right? Going by these recordings she sounded really decent supporting Joelle in LORD theme on lower harmonies, too.

The gall she has to be this good in Yasashii Yoake and LORD theme after the whole Kalafina section (which inluded the ARIA struggle - and I've come to wonder why she was doing all the belting refrains AND all the softer backing vocals there? way2muchwork) AND after leading all the Emily songs in the first half... That's a lot.

The nerve to be that good.
Truly displaying the work she put(s) into mastering her vocal apparatus.

Not going to lie I skiped straight to the bridge to see if Hikaru got close to YK again, like you can see in the full Guangzhou video... (Few posts up.)
When I saw that happen I couldn't make up my mind whether it was a cute moment or a disrespectful "BOUNDARIES!!!!" one...

PS. Still wild to me how fresh Hikaru sounds in nowhere.

Za warudo: I think I liked Joelle's performance here more than Kajifes hue. Though I miss how she used to sing the ending, like Vol 15 and Reprise.
Land of twilight: Mmm Yuriko's intro was shaky. Muh Joelle was great at replacing Kaori. I didn't even miss her hue (but still, come back). I hear another voice singing with Yuriko, LL I'm guessing? Sounds kinda sucky hue.
Forest: purrrfection again, even without the magicks. Ah Joelle, I caught that lyric slip up hue.
IMLFCS: I think I prefer Joelle in this performance than the one from vol 20 hue.
I swear: I've warmed up to Keiko's singing this song softly. Bretty good once again.
Fiction: purrrfection once again.
I reach for the sun: Lil details here and there, but not complaining.
In the garden of sinners: Bretty good. Different take than the original, but it works. Mebbe not in the movie hue. Definitely better performance than the one from vol 7.
ARIA: Joelle sang the refrain better this day compared to the recording posted before (it's different day, right?). Hikaru ist not gut at all. Verty pitchy and strained.
Magia: like always, everyone but Hikaru is good. Still strained but better pitch hue.
Gin niwa: Oooh it's pretty cute with flute! Joelle sounds soft and sweet~ Hikaru sounds too piercing hue.
RYB: Blegh. I mean, it seems less worse than the HF raibu, but I don't think I'm ever going to like LL's voice. Also, why not Yuriko? At least for the ending, where LL sounds poop.
TTB: I didn't mind Hikaru here, though her parts are pretty small hue. Yuriko sounded a bit rough in some kajiuragos.
Yasashii yoake: Purrrfection.
Obssession: pretty kewl arrangement. Didn't hate LL, but I would rather a better singer sing it hue. CoughJoellecough
Sen ya ichi ya: A little pitchy at the beginning, but got better. Bretty good performance.
Oh my LORD Main theme: Joelle still sounds so good after leading like 10 songs lol.
Absolute configuration: Ok there's a voice that's taking over Kaori's role in LORD and here again. Who is it!? Rito or LL? I would assume it's Rito, since LL is probably singing the soprano part with Yuriko and Joelle.
Luminous sword: I said it before and I'll say it again, this song desperately needs a new arrangement with some new vocal parts.
Fanfare: Eh, I prefer Kaori leading.
Xenosaga 2: Would've liked to hear Rito replace Kaori, just to hear more of her. Other than that, bretty good. Joelle still sounding strong on her held notes.
Nowhere: I agree that Hikaru sounds gut, better than every other song she sang in this song. It's in a super comfortable range for her, so she SHOULD sound good hue.
Into za warudo: Oh, back to not so good Hikaru hue... I was expecting to hear muh Joelle's sweet voice, and I get LL. Well, at least she got the second verse, bridge, and ending hue.

TL;DR, Joelle is still a KWEEN.

You can probably check the full-ish Guangzhou video recording few posts above to double check the parts you want.

jack's audio definitely seems to be Shanghai 'cause it has "forest", while Guangzhou video has "vanity".

I think she's getting there. I like the way rito's personal music is more bright but for Kajiura she sings lower and warmer.

Yes! It's surprising that just after the Kalafina revival [edit:]announcement[/edit] we're getting YKL covers of so many Kalafina songs including "ARIA". Just remains "Oblivious".

Oh yeah! She was completely masterful in her songs. I think she was managing her energy earlier on, so she didn't go too hard on the other songs. She knew that she had so much music to cover.

That's a pro vocalist. I hope she's gotten back with her vocal coach to stay in shape.

I mean, this year, she also has the Revo concert!

I was at the Bangkok live. It was so good. I was at the front row! It was so funny. Everyone was so shy to stand and I felt the urge to stand up. I remember Yuki Kajiura saying to enjoy the live in a way you wanna enjoy it. So I stood up and I was jumping looking at the audience inviting them to stand up also. The singers were laughing. We weren’t just standing up and jumping, we were dancing 😆 especially at the encore music, Nowhere. It was so fun. We weren’t just standing at the front so we were like leading the crowd with the handmovements and stuff. Yuki Kajiura gave me a heart sign using her hands. I was so inlove 😆 Rito and I shared a laugh when I was joking around with her at my seat. They were so fun. Yuriko gave me the sweetest smile and a finger heart. Keiko was having fun with us. Joelle was so sweet. Lino Leia made me wanna dance. The live version of Obsession was different than Kajifes and I loved it so much. Hikaru was so engaging to the audience ♥️

Serious note. Hikaru definitely sounded so different. I got so used to her 2008 -2014 voice. Rito today sounded like Hikaru of 2008. I feel sad that some parts of Hikaru were given to Joelle ( I mean Joelle sounded good. I love her in the chorus of Aria. ) I was sad because Hikaru cannot pull it off anymore. I wish Hikaru the best. She sounded so good though if she sings songs that are in mid range like Nowhere. I do miss that metalic pipe-like sound of Hikaru like in 2008.
Next, Joelle is so versatile. Sadly, more than Wakana. I miss Wakana. But Joelle can pull off vocal techniques than Wakana can. That doesn’t mean I don’t want Wakana. She is the best suited voice for Yuki Kajiura but Joelle stood her ground well and she can do some stuffs better. She has more stability and control in live performances.
Keiko is perfect as always. She knows how to control the crowd and she continues to improve.
Lino Leia is doing so well. She is catching up among the seniors. She can handle the crowd well. I enjoyed Ring Your Bell to be honest. She sounded good with the house mix. The Fate concert had a bad mixing. Understandable because it’s a live stream. They can’t adjust it that much during a live stream. But believe me, she sounded good.
Rito needs more lead. She is so good. Well done to our girls.

I loved every moment of it. And I will strive to watch more of their lives and I will keep supporting everyone even with the solo careers of our Kalafina girls.
It was a fun moment.
Kajiura joked a lot using Thai words. Yuriko was the funniest tho. She wrote a cheat sheet using her hands and when she can’t help it, she broke character and read from her hands 😆
Yuki Kajiura used English in the majority of the live.
We can’t record because it was so strict. Even if we were allowed to record I will still be enjoying her music and cry to the point I can’t even think of recording 😆

I am not Thai. But to all people in Thailand, let me express that I love you all. You are all so kind and hospitable. The food is amazing. I am moving to Thailand one day for sure. Please do add me in facebook to get to know you ♥️

Malaysia concert just finished. No notes, absolutely everyone, and I do mean everyone, was in top form. So good. So amazing. Whatever criticisms I have with bootlegs or "unedited" showcases are completely gone.

It's really not the same recorded. The atmosphere, energy and interaction is absolutely different live and I regret every concert I wasn't able to attend until now. Little vocal hiccups are completely not noticeable in a live setting because you're enjoying the performances so much that it doesn't matter. Everyone enjoyed it, performers and audience alike.

Yuki got a standing ovation at the end, which is the highest honour anyone can give an artist. Smiles all around.
