Yuki Kajiura Live Special Edition ~Christmas Dinner Show 2025~

a mature sound without sounding old
What does "sounding old" mean? 🤨

I thought Wakana was in her 30s when she was in her 20s lol. maybe the visual aided in that because I've watched Keiko since she's in her 20s and she looked like she was in her 20s
So Wakana sounded 30s but looked 20s. But Keiko looked and sounded 20s? What about when she made her voice really dark by lowering the larynx all the way down and swallowing the voice when she goes for that her epic stance/effect? Did she still sound "young" at those times or also sound "old" like the others? 😁

Joelle has a brighter sound but she sounds old (and she's old) and i thought Emiko is the same age as Joelle 🤣
I am curious about the quality of what you mean by your use of the term "sounding old" or "sounding young". So Joelle has a brighter old voice? If she's "old" in age then her voice is appropriate to how she sounds right? Does she sound old all the time or in specific songs?

One thing I believe is that Emiko doesn't try to prettify her voice to sound cute (like the other ladies may do to give an preferred J-singer image) neither in her physical movements. She embraces the darkness and weight and, I think, imitates the male tenor affect probably from listening a lot to her dad (in my fan imagination) with a bit of the aggressiveness mixed in - a tomboy in my view, but good-looking.

The two songs, "black rose" and "destination", wouldn't have sounded as POWERFUL if Emiko had tried to prettify her voice (or if anyone else had led them, in my view 😁). I mean listen again to the start of "destination"! That's what I call presence!

I asked my mother to listen to "Black Rose" from Vol.21 but without the video. She thought that Emiko's voice sounded 30s
Cool. Thanks for sharing.

That just means she has a mature-sounding voice. If she is also able to sing in a lighter/more youthful voice, then that just means she has different vocal colors which is good for different characters in theatre productions.

having a very plump skin doesn't exactly help much considering a lot of Japanese/Asian celebrities have really plump, healthy skin at their 40s. and it's kinda on me because i've only watched YKL at bilibili on 480p 🤣
Well ofc, but in my eyes while Emiko and Kaori don't look too apart on age, I wouldn't say Kaori is younger than Emiko. And definitely doesn't look like Joelle. Joelle shows her age.

Joelle is pretty, just that her American genes make her age show more easily than if she were just Japanese.
Yes, although since american as an ethnicity does not really exist, I would say more her features from her european ancesty show more. Also, I have to admit that considering her age, I find her to be prettiest. But who knows how the younger ones look at their early 40s in which I assume Joelle

Touché about the ethnicity.

Joelle is very pretty, absolutely. Her being older doesn't change that one bit.

Everyone is different, but I was still coming from my response to ritarudandoo's previous comment and thinking about looks and age, for example, how Eri is even much older and still looks so lovely, but Remi is in her 40s but looked different in the SAO concert and also in KajiFes (she looked better).

Anyway, preferences are also subjective to the observer.
