What inspired you to form Kalafina?
For Kalafina, I wanted to make focused (lit. “narrow”) music. For FictionJunction, I have to try everything I come up with; for Kalafina, I only want to try what Kalafina is supposed to sound like.

Huh, this is actually quite the odd answer...after all, Kala's singing several different styles of music, whereas I'd call FJ's songs very "narrow" usually.
If we regard FJ as a unit that has released a number of original songs, I totally agree with you.
Hmm... I'm also thinking along the lines of Alphard's opinion here. My interpretation is that perhaps Kajiura wasn't referring to FictionJunction as the group/unit in general but rather FictionJunction as an entire project (which also encompasses the solos like FJ Wakana, FJ Kaori etc.). I agree that FJ's songs (as the group) do sound narrow (except for maybe "stone cold") but their other songs sound somewhat varied to a certain extent e.g. "Houseki", "synchronicity", "Hanamori no Oka".

Still, I reckon the question and answer themselves are pretty "loose" in several contexts (I wonder what was the word Kajiura used for "focused" if she was speaking in Japanese). Maybe Kajiura thinks that the compositions have to fit Kalafina's voices and image while she feels she has more freedom when writing songs for say, Wakana, Kaori (solo vocalists) etc. for example? Perhaps she was talking more about the process rather than the result? :confu:

well what i can interpret from this isn't really good...
it is like Kajiura sama is limiting herself to composing what sounds
"kalafina-ish"... :uh..: This could probably be the main reason why her music as been so repetitive recently...well that's my personal opinion though...what do u guys interpret from her interview?

Well Keiko liking Lady Gaga kind a disappointed my feelings, because she's way better than Gaga.

Gothic loli Keiko is enough...i dont want a meat costume Keiko :omg: :omg: :omg:

^ you guys are so picky, it's not like Keiko liking Lady Gaga for her fashion style lol :XD:

imho Lady Gaga is good in singing live compared to most of singers nowadays :tea:

Of course I don't want Keiko to be Lady Gaga, and singing with such lady Gaga lyrics.

^But an artists's taste doesn't necessairly show up in his work. Kajiura never reminded of The Beatles, for example :XD:

I understand your point, but my post didn't mean like that. Well how do I say it...
Never mind, I don't want to debate about Lady Gaga. ^^

^ I agree...perhaps Yuki was referring to the fact that with FJ's 4 vocalists she feels she can be a lot more flexible with the songs she writes (even if she does usually go with the typical "Kaori/Wakana-verse/chorus, Keiko-Yuriko-backup/one-liner" formula anyway) whereas with Kala having only 3 vocalists with ranges that are quite distinct from one other and which don't overlap as much as FJ's singers, she has to stick to certain boundaries...?
