Still, I reckon the question and answer themselves are pretty "loose" in several contexts (I wonder what was the word Kajiura used for "focused" if she was speaking in Japanese). Maybe Kajiura thinks that the compositions have to fit Kalafina's voices and image while she feels she has more freedom when writing songs for say, Wakana, Kaori (solo vocalists) etc. for example? Perhaps she was talking more about the process rather than the result?
Hmm... I'm also thinking along the lines of Alphard's opinion here. My interpretation is that perhaps Kajiura wasn't referring to FictionJunction as the group/unit in general but rather FictionJunction as an entire project (which also encompasses the solos like FJ Wakana, FJ Kaori etc.). I agree that FJ's songs (as the group) do sound narrow (except for maybe "stone cold") but their other songs sound somewhat varied to a certain extent e.g. "Houseki", "synchronicity", "Hanamori no Oka".Alphard Sokaina said:If we regard FJ as a unit that has released a number of original songs, I totally agree with you.ninetales said:What inspired you to form Kalafina?
For Kalafina, I wanted to make focused (lit. “narrow”) music. For FictionJunction, I have to try everything I come up with; for Kalafina, I only want to try what Kalafina is supposed to sound like.
Huh, this is actually quite the odd answer...after all, Kala's singing several different styles of music, whereas I'd call FJ's songs very "narrow" usually.
