MIQ (MIO) - Dunbine tebu

(The studio version for comparison https://youtu.be/ywE2yTfKlbU?is=MzPJM6rVn7PuO-2F )

She sang some anime songs in the 80s. This one is from another of Tomino’s works.

I find her voice so impressive and find her underrated. She is also a music teacher and has put free videos in her YouTube breaking down many songs including theory and singing techniques. I don’t speak Japanese but with the auto translation and her emphasis, a lot comes through. I feel that’s very generous of her. (Imagine if Kajiura did that 😍)

The Promised Neverland OST

I like how the composer (Takahiro Obata) uses rock, symphonic, electronic, vocal-forward, and other elements, depending on the track.

My favorite remains "Isabella's Lullaby" (for obvious reasons) and I'd really like to hear Sarah Alainn (who I was informed was the featured vocalist) perform it live. I wonder if there's been any live performance of this OST, though. 🤔

Tsubasa Chronicle Original Soundtrack Future Soundscape IV

  1. At the start of "once upon a time there was you and me" I could have almost thought this vocalization was from either Hanae or Wakana (in terms of the range and color).
  2. I get now why so many of us were against JUNNA's rendition of "aikoi". 😏
  3. I must praise Masuke Nozaki's drum work on "my dear feather". Very tasteful.
  4. "merrymaking" - I gotta hear this performed in a Kajiura Live, as an interlude, since it's short. She usually just does songs with vocals for her regular lives, except for KajiFes where she mixes instrumental tracks among the vocal songs.
  5. "you shall overcome" - This will need live brass! That would be sweet! (Or she'd just use tracks as usual.). Where are the musicians listed on this site?
  6. "prove yourself" is Kajiura mid-tempo-dramatic-chant goodness! Her tone in one of the voices reminded me of Wakana a bit. Maybe that's why she often harmonized with her in the earlier lives.
  7. "let go" is also not in the main lyrics page. Same question as with no. 5.
  8. "rainbow" has DNA of some later songs, in some of the string movements and the general chord progression.
  9. "broken sword of justice"
  10. "darkness comes" slow, moody Kajiura warudo.
  11. "dawn" - I just thought that Kajiura's happy music is always tinged with a hint of melancholy.
  12. "uninvited guest" - electronic-tinged strings featuring
  13. "requiem for the evil" - Eri Ito showcases her ethnic/world vocalization and ornamentation skills. Interesting mix of instrumentation. I know I heard a sitar or related Indian instrument, as well as one of their percussion sounds.
  14. "longingly" - a beautiful piano song. I would like to see lives of some of these Soundtrack Specials.
  15. "run for your life" - The song title belies the music, which is light, hopeful and uplifted. So it's more an escape to freedom than a fearful fleeing in the context of the anime...?
  16. "optimistic" - beautiful start, I like the overlapping vocalizations and the mood of the song. Oh, it became electronic, with cello and strings!
  17. "a whip and a witch" - this makes you wanna sway gently to the music. Sounds like Nozaki on the drums against. Crazy violin solo by Konno-san.
  18. "crying alone" - This is another beautiful but sad piano piece, with strings coming in for the "crying" later.
  19. "ring your song" - Of course, I love this song. First hearing it in KajiFes and l loved the harmony work from the chorus, and especially the last sung chord on the word "young".
