Here we are, I decided to open this topic about this great Jrpg series
Even thought there is a topic on tales fan, I opened this to talk about which game from this saga we like, or why not, maybe news for who wait Tales of Xillia for example ^^
I played many of those games (only few are translated at least in english é_è)
My favourite are Tales of Phantasia, Abyss, Eternia and Graces (which I saw only playtrought)
Also I'm in love with ToW RM spin-off games
Motoi Sakuraba music is awesome ^-^ :sohappy:
I want him work with miss Kajiura :dote:

I've played Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, and very soon Graces F :sohappy: . I'm planning on importing Vesperia PS3 and use a translation patch.

I've played Destiny 2, Symphonia, Abyss, and I'm now working through Graces F. Really want to play Vesperia, but I don't have an Xbox, and importing is too expensive for me right now. :uh..:

Yes at beggining I thought it was Graces f, but from how the logo starts it's looks like ToV

One of the best JRPG series out there. Enticing plots, good characters, great visuals and music - and awesome battle systems!
So far I've only beaten Tales of Phantasia (on SNES, of course; I wasn't that interested in the PS1 remake apart from the opening video, and the GBA remake is an epic fail IMO). But I've got Destiny and Eternia on hold, periodically trying them out (I'm planning a serious playthrough after I beat FF8 and FF9), and I've been playing Tales of Innocence recently, which is also awesome.
Since both buying a PS2 and getting its games emulated properly on my PC seem like rather long-term prospects for me, I have yet to try later installments (although I got Tales of Symphonia recently, but my PC can't run it fast enough either). Of course, I'm planning to get myself a 3DS, so I'm really looking forward to the Tales of the Abyss remake. :waii:

Of course remakes don't always promise good things. AFAIH the new Tales of Phantasia promised a new playable character, but it seems that it was a former NPC who temporarily joins you and
has the same abilities as Arche, since she's borrowing Arche's body anyway.
According to other rumours, the character in question may be Suzu, but I didn't have a chance to confirm it. Did someone beat the game to that point?

Tales of Destiny looks a lot like ToP, but talking swords are a nice alloy. :XD: And it's probably the only official localization that kept the original voices. I haven't played much yet, just on the verge of traveling to the first town (I hoped that archer girl would tag along, but she didn't :wai: ).
Tales of Eternia features a 3D map and overall presents loads and loads of sprite awesomeness that makes polygonal installments like Symphonia, Abyss and Innocence bleak in comparison (although from what I saw in trailers, Vesperia managed to find a good balance). The battles are even faster and smoother, you not only get to control any character at any time, but also switch to full manual controls. The game is dubbed, and I have mixed feelings about it (IMHO Meredy and Keele sound good, but Reid and Farah's voices are... emotionally overdone). Progress: just picked up Keele and returned to the academic town.

Tales of Innocence: Iria is already among my favourite video game characters. :dote: :XD: The battle system is lovable, there's a whole adventurer guild to enroll, and there are different battle styles to train, abilities to get, weapons to modify and relationships to advance. And a really interesting storyline to boot. Oh, and don't forget KOKIA's "Follow the Nightingale" - probably the best opeining theme in the series. :nosebleed:

Tales of Symphonia: I went past the intro and am currently in the classroom. Since the characters move at the speed of tectonic plates, I take a hint that I should get a faster PC (or get myself a Wii already). :ohoho:

Well, so far my favourite characters in the series are Arche and Iria. Maybe Farah and Meredy as well, but it's a bit too early to say. :XD:

Yeah, surely those are great games, a little underestimate outside Japan
Too bad :omg:
Nick, I don't understand of which remake are you talking about @.@
I played all tales of phantasia games and sure my first love was Arche ^_^ (Londorine from ToP NDX is sexy :nosebleed: )
But I like serious woman, so when I played ToA Tears was and is my love from the whole series, about the remake I hope it is good, I played ToA with a pc emulator 30 fps -_- only thanks to Tear and Jade
About ToI I like Ange, and I'm glad that some character have italian names xD I mean Ricardo and Luca (or Ruka damned R-L sounds) and Spada which means Sword ^^ about opening yes, it has a great opening but shorter é_è
In future I'll make a post with my fav character from the whole series xD

Aaaaaaah you mean that girl who seems to be
Arche replica
xD
You've right about the gba version is horrible, in the italian one they called Arche...-> Ambra :omg: I don't know there...

Like I said, that girl
actually IS Arche, temporarily possessed by the spirit of her friend.
In the original, she just joins you, but doesn't participate in battles. In the remake, she's a spellcaster
for clearly obvious reasons. :ohoho: although her parents studied magic, I doubt she had a magic talent herself, since it's only reserved to elves and half-elves.

It's nice to find Arche fan, most hate her ç_ç I was happy to use her and tear since Radiant mythlogy 1

And we have IT TOGf goes out in north america *hugs every fan of the series :sohappy: *

http://ataleoftworichards.com/ :shy:

most hate her

how's that possible? :omg: :omg: :omg:
Naughty, quirky and adorable characters like her normally get fandoms the size of Everest. Of course, Mint is also great, but she's a completely different personality, so there should be no competition between them.
Arche is funny, but also very sweet. And the fate has been LESS than nice to her.

Well, yesterday Namdai confirmed Tales of Graces f and nothing more. Doesn't explain all the other logos they used...

Rich (Namdai's Community Manager) claimed on his twitter that it was all a heavily distorted Graces f logo but anyone who has any knowledge of video games knows that either he's lying or seriously ignorant.

Played Symphonia (multiple times) on GC and Dawn of the new world on Wii,and Vesperia in XBOX360.Apparently the rest didn't catch my attention, except Abyss that wasn't realesed in Europe :/
Those 3 though were amazing games, from my top rpg games. I like Symphonia the most but Yuri from Vesperia is

except Abyss that wasn't realesed in Europe :/

Who knows, maybe the 3DS remake will make it here. :ayashii:
From what I've heard, Symphonia and Abyss are considered among the best in the series. :sparkleguy: And Vesperia seems pretty popular.
