The episode is... WOW. Not World of Warcraft, but simply "wow". The visuals look great, the BGM presents at least two more epic tracks, the plot and setting is jolly interesting.
So far this does look like a keypoint in the genre to me.
And the OST is beyond promising.
The witch is a real shaftism.
Her animation is part of credibility, IMHO - it's more like a constantly changing illusion than a real object you can follow with your stare. But boy, are these things dangerous. With them influencing people around, the show can really become very grim.
(on a side note... why do people have to take off their shoes before jumping off a building? That's not the first time I encounter this detail

Among other things, it left me curious that Madoka's sketches feature her, Mami and even Akemi, and leave out Sayaka. Why trying to design an outfit for those who already have one? Unless she drew them for comparison and reference...
