...but I'm being directed to some ad page when browsing the forum lately,weird since this has never happened until about 2 days ago.

Quite strange. Since Kerahna is totally negative when it comes to advertisements, I bet its some kind of bug.

I dont experience similar problems, if you have firefix install this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/ and scan your computer for adware (please note that I am not expert like Sud so I dont know what's really causing the problem)
