Madoka Magica Movie 1+2 OST

^It's downloading so far! Thank you so much! :sohappy:

EDIT: It worked! Woohoo! Listening now, will have my review later.

i really like witch world #1... especially when it's nearing the end of the track :plot:

This is my somewhat long review, but I really loved this ost. More than the show ones I think. Enjoy!

1. encounter: Nice, wish it was longer.
2. warning #1: Creepy, a puella in somnio remake.
3. warning #2: Another version of #1. Like the strings.
4. odd world #1: Just sound effects.
5. odd world #2: Like this one better. The tempo is just right and I like the guitar and strings.
6. no more fear: Really nice! Reminds me of Credens, but different of course. Nice feel and I love string songs, of course.
7. wo ist die kase?: Interesting. Somehow I don’t think the children chanting fits the melody.
8. short action: Wow, awesome! The violin is really sweet in this. (I am already liking this soundtrack more than the show ones.)
9. fateful #1: The cello, violin, piano combination is pretty, and melancholy, but I like it. What’s with all the numbered tracks? Hmm.
10. something unusual: Is like the title says. Very sad, but beautiful at the same time. Seems like these movies are going to be even more creepy. Love the vocal.
11. crisis happening: A continuation of something unusual. I like it as well. Gives me chills.
12. witch world #1: Interesting. Did not think this song would be so light hearted. It reminds me of a ball in a Disney movie. But then it turns dark, which is the part I don’t like. heh
13. odd world #3: Ahhh the song I wanted! Yaaay! I love it so much. The violin is so pretty, and creepy at the same time. One of my favorites so far. (Also at first when it started I thought "Kyrie? What?" lol)
14. wicked: Another cello song, this one is kind of meh for me.
15. a human bullet: Nice, reminds me of critical phase from SAO. The guitar is awesome! Love the violin parts.
16: mother and daughter: A very touching piano song.
17. touch-and-go: Another SAO like song. I am loving all the string songs in this ost.
18. fateful #2: Like grunty said, I don’t really mind this sis Puella remake. It is nice and calming.
19. she has a past: Creepy, not sure that I really like it, even though there’s violin. The later part is kind of pretty I guess and reminds me of KnK.
20. she has a heart: Now this one I like. I feel like I’m floating on a river boat. Very nice.
21. complicated mind: Another remake. This one is a bit boring.
22. wounded feeling: A nice piano song.
23. witch world #2: The vocal is nice. Usually don’t like opera songs, but every once and awhile I do, like with this one. Wow… her voice is so powerful here.
24. collapse: Cool, a decretum remake. It’s basically the same, except the beginning and background. I like it.
25. fateful #3: Another Sis puella remake. Nice though.
26. deep in grief: I love this song. So lovely, it makes me want to cry though. I think this would be nice to have a vocal version of.
27. threatening: Just a sound effects one.
28. she is a witch: Nice. Love the strings. The vocals are nice too. I imagine this will be used a lot for the fight scenes, but I like it so it’s okay.
29. fateful #4: Wow, 4 fatefuls.
30. facing the truth #1: Like the flute. It gives off an eerie feel to it. Then the cello comes in, wow. Chills went up my spine at that moment. I love the combination. Very simple, but It works.
31. Ill be with you: Very lovely.
32. I miss you: Ooo reminds me of voices silently sing in the beginning, with the vocals. This is really pretty, I love it. Probably going to be a favorite.
33. time-manipulation: Nice. Reminds me of KnK again.
34. facing the truth #2: Like it as much as the first one.
35. her wings: Pretty. The chorus reminds me of a church song.
36. rebirth: A continuation of her wings. Also nice.
37. for the next episode: heh I like the title. The song is pretty as well. A kind of combination of the themes.

I listened to this OST for about 5 times in 3 days when I was on holidays after I downloaded it from the internet cafe. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by how many good tracks this has, since I kinda had low expectations based on how the Madoka anime OSTs are.

My review:

encounter: love the combination of bells (they bring something sweet to it and strings (while this keeps it serious)
warning #1: this track even though it its electronic its kind of calming
warning #2: This is so F/Z ish XD
odd world #1: The voices sound creepy, like woolves :XD:
odd world #2: Loving this, and I like how the strings finish, reminds me of "The world is trembling down" in that part.
no more fear: This is tsubasa-ish at the beginning and then goes Credens justitiam.
wo ist die kase? : Wow we havent heard kid chorus since elcazador de la bruja :dote: Even though the kids sound cute the strings make it creepy loving this :dote:
short action: What the title says :XD:
fateful #1: Is this combination of the homura melody (piano) + sis puella magica :confu:
something unsual: Wondering if the voice here is sampled or is Hanae.
erises happening: Same + the percussion sounds great :dote:
witch world #1: really nice, its happy as was Madoka first impression when she entered it, but at the same time has a scary feel to it around the middle. I have noticed Yuki has a liking of valse pieces, first there was one in knk #6, then "dance with me" in SAO ost 2 and then this :ayashii:
odd world #3: The SFX at the begging are the same as in Kyrie :XD: Wow I am loving the melodie here as well as the combination cello and violin :nosebleed:
wieked: classical Yuki cello track
a human bullet: Wow, this track is awesome, love the melody and especially how the drums are used here (both at the begging and the middle were the track slows down and they go along with rhythm, also I think its the closest to metal music of kajiura san so far. The best music of this ost for me :nosebleed: :nosebleed:
mother and daughter: classical piano
touch and go: nice tension track, F/Z had something similar.
fateful #2: I think this is my favourite out of the Sis puella magica arrangements present in this ost.
she has a past / heart where probably made to replace those classical pieces used in the TV anime. The are calming but I have nothing more to say XD
complicated minds and woonded feelings: no comment too
witch world#2: Is this really in german, beause I am not sure. Anyway, we hadnt heard Kasahara in a similar piece since luminality, its really beautiful, and I think the flute fits well, bringing something softer to the generally heavily sad track.
collapse: sounds like a shortcut for decretum
fateful #3: This kind of combination of flute and violin/viola is kind of rare, so I like it.
deep in grief: I like the melody and the feeling it gives off
threatening: pure SFX XD
she's a witch: Eri! Wow, this track reminds me of the unreleased Tokyo Revelations bgm style wise, I really like it. Also I think its the track that used Eri's abilities best from the ones composed by Yuki so far
fateful#4: Nice strings arrangement.
facing the truth #1: Nice combination of metalophone and flute, can be claming, or sad.
i'll be with you: This meloddy reminds of some other (Madoka?) track but I dont remember which.
I miss you: same melody as the above. Really nice Hanae, she sings M47+48 style.
time-munipulation: I always like acoustic piano :dote:
facing truth #2: Like it less than #1.
her wings: cute flute, the chorus is nice but I preffer it faster like in rebirth. The chorus synthesis gives off a christianic feel, as if its a chant to Mado-kami :XD:
for the next episode: Really nice as well, kind of repeatitive but good for trailer music.

Someone said its better than the F/Z OST, I think they are equally good, but its surely better than SAO #2.

Now I will try to marathon it along with the TV anime OSTs. I now have high expectations for the Rebellion movie :dote: :dote:

oh, does anyone have the scans ? :plz:

thanks for the links! :sparkleguy:

so far....Kasahara's "witch world#2" woaahh i honestly thought both sis puella and decretum couldn't get any better...but man!.. this is true opera......loved it :shy: :nosebleed: :sohappy: ... specially around 0:30-0:34 kind of a requiem got so f... emotional    ...didn't notice if the flute fit or not haha

Was it Eri?? is this correct? because I was having serious issues missing her  ...i also thought that track gets generic at some point...but if it's Eri back then i dont care at all...

Eh? The solo in she is a witch is definitely Kasahara to me. I'll be shocked if it turns out to be Eri. The generic choir in the middle is probably ??yuriko/kajiura??.

The solo is definitely Yuri. Neither Eri nor Yuriko's voice is that heavy.
The chanting also sounds like Yuri to me.

she has a past / heart where probably made to replace those classical pieces used in the TV anime. The are calming but I have nothing more to say XD

They're used when Kyoko tells Sayaka her story.

@George: I did not hear any bells in encounter, unless you mean the percussion drums. That's what I heard anyways.

same here about Kasahara...also about Yuriko in chants parts

I dont know, Fate to zero confused me too :XD:
that's why i was asking...i even thought of hanae since i havent listened to the latter tracks yet..

Movie OST was quite nice, though I feel some tracks cut off before they could really grow into something awesome (encounter, odd world #1, short action, ect.) I think I liked the series soundtracks a bit more than many people, and the movie soundtrack correspondingly less, though it was still a good listen.

I'm quite sure that's Kasahara in "She's a witch."

^ well its not like I dont like the TV anime osts, just the lack of vocal tracks (minus ost 1) and the 3 classical pieces (boring) make them less hiping for me.

I get what you mean. I wish there were more vocal tracks 'cause I liked the ones that were there. But there were some nice instrumentals (Decretum and Numquam Vincar especially, for me). OST III did contain Kasahara + choir, though I hesitate to call those vocal tracks in the same way as Credens and Sis Puella Magica.

I guess what I'm saying is, if we took the best tracks from the TV series and compiled them into one CD, I'd like that better than the movie OST. However, if we were to compare them based on average quality of tracks... I can't fault people for liking the movie's score more, even if I'm not sure I agree.

^ True there were some very good instrumentals in the tv anime ost, apart from the ones you menthioned also Salve tarrae magicae, Postmeridie, Venari strings, Symposium magarum and I guess you can also call vocal track the one Fion sung in, Pugna cum maga, However compared to the movie soundtrack the anime ones had too many SFX or psycological music (slow sad piano or cello), while the movie ost has a better analogy, with only 2 SFX and the slow sad ones were more carefully done (like the "fateful" ones even though they were all arrangements of the same music, she used different instruments for every one, while the musics in tv anime ost are most of them either piano or cello)

I somehow doubt "She is a Witch" features Yuri Kasahara (especially after listening to Witch World #2), but... the first verse sounds like Eri, while the second actually sounds like REMI. :@_@: Hmmm, seriously, was there any info that REMI could be involved with this OST?

Then again, Eri can sound pretty deep, too, if we recall Endlessly or Jubilee.
