Kaori Oda solo + collabs (non-YK / non-Sound Horizon)

Just checking TEAM Ent. website and I didn't realize that Haruka and Ceui were also managed by them. Would it be fair to say their careers are within the same range of promotion?

I am curious because of the perception some of us (including me) have that Kaori could be more successful/visible if she was with another management agency. Maybe that's not the case?

I saw that there were several collaborations tracks between the TEAM artists (of course Haruka and Kaori too) which makes me think of how Kaori became a part of FictionJunction being part of SC at their time as Kajiura and the other regular vocalists.

Not sure about Yuriko Kaida's management at the time - was she also under SC?
 
Not knowing Annabel... oh dear... Guess you've not been following the anime or doujin scene in general in the late 2000/early 2010s? xD Feels like yesterday... and yet not...

Granted, I guess I'm not doing that at all in 2020s either... (Can't find anything new to obsess over in the anime scene and doujin scene is too much of a hassle to follow now...)

Yeah... I am a newbie.

Only saw Naruto in maybe 2007/2008 and got to know about some of the classic songs from that anime, e.g. "Blue Bird", but didn't get to watch the artist MVs and live performances until much later (basically YouTube). After that went into JPop (Perfume, etc.), before discovering Kalafina in maybe 2018/2019, then FJ, then the Revo train, all one YouTube video at a time.

I tend to just chase variations of the music I enjoy over and over again, rather than search out entire artist discographies, so I don't know all the music of even the artists I like.

Anyway getting used to the streaming services has helped with more breadth to my listening.

I haven’t listened to all of Annabel’s discography, but I would highly recommend “Taishou A”. Her vocals on that song are gorgeous.

Thank you! This was beautiful!

Annabel has such soft and poignant emotion in her delicacy. As I listened, I immediately imagined either Haruka or Kaori singing it, and it just didn’t fit as well. Their vocal characteristics and tendencies would change the feeling of the song.

Not just timbre differences but approach to the vocal. Haruka would probably want to do some changes to make it more fantasy-like.

I also thought of Aoi Teshima because of the acoustic jazz start (especially the double-bass) and the delicacy in Annabel’s vocal (though now breathy like Aoi it has that same gentle/ peaceful effect, at least on me).

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

That’s why they’re so close. They spend a lot of time together in the studio, in the TEAM office, and working on projects.

It also helps that both were in Sound horizon and kaori I believe likes to work with people she already knew (I think her later husband might be one of the few exceptions)

Yeah, following the logic, I'm guessing they met in SH (when KAORI was still with SC) then when Kaori was leaving SC Haruka invited her over to TEAM, and Kaori liked her so it was good for her.
 
I'm loving Annabel's voice just from what I've heard. I need to hear some more but I wonder if she sings this kind of a gentle vocal as her trademark artistic style (kinda like Aoi). đŸ€”

I think that you will find that Kaori Oda joined Team Entertainment before leaving Spacecraft - membership of one isn't exclusive of membership of the other (first CD release under Team Entertainment was Place 06 February 2013, and Kaori Oda was one of the artists at Spacecraft's Music Energy 2014 event).

Reading some of those comments of what people thought would happen and what not is wild. we never got the hikaru baby xD
