Kalafina to perform at Lisani! Live 5 day 2 - 25/01/2015

Well, if that's the case, I think something like this would've been better.

-Believe
MC
-Oblivious
-Magnolia
-Signal
-Obligatto
MC
-Heavenly Blue

3 anime songs, 3 non-anime songs, LOTS OF ENERGY!
Too many non tie up songs. I'd rather they not give them more things to complain about. Anime only fans don't know those...

I want them to perform their non anime songs too. But I don't think this is the place to do it. Which is why I was so disappointed by their CDJ set list. It was not an anime event, but they still went with those.

Thanks for the explanation, Hatouchan! Still, why snow falling for their 'cool-down' song. They have I have a dream and Kimi ga Hikari. or even dolce. Or Kizuato. Why Ongaku when they still have songs such as progressive, Mata Kaze (which imo, brings the audience 'high' even more than Ongaku in their lives). They performed Ongaku also in AFA ID'13 and I know the girls enjoyed themselves really much when they sang it but it's a first time performance. Ongaku is performed 2 years in a row, and they ALWAYS performed it on their lives there. It looks more like laziness to me, like 'oh okay let's sing ongaku again because we've sung it gazillion times we don't need to practice it anymore' :(

I have a dream is also a perfect ending song. I can accept HnS even more than Mirai.

but then I remember that Sato can't rock the shit out of Mata Kaze and HnS if they perform them. Maybe they took the band's ability to consideration. Oh well. Plus no Konno either.

I'll shut my crap now. Sorry all.

Keiko loves Ongaku though. Haha. And I feel that it has wider mass appeal and is more fun as compared to the other two. There's a section in Ongaku that is purely for the girls to engage the crowd. I don't think the other songs are as effective at that.

They don't perform mata kaze ga enough! The only live versions we have are the one from first edition Cd, which was OK, and the live selection ver which I thought was a bad performance. They performed it at the FC live but seldom at other lives, which means they mostly see it as a very niche song that appeals only to the core kalafina fans. That's unfortunately also what they classify lirica as, btw. The girls pick their own set list so this probably influences their decision. Blue and red will be pretty boring to you guys.

I can't claim to know why they picked snow falling. Perhaps it's because Konno wasn't around. It is a super quiet song. They did hikarifuru the other time, right? Is there a pattern in their choice? I think not a lot of people knew snow falling, even amongst the KnK fans. It's just an image song but they consider it part of the KnK themes. But I'm sure someone int he audience was happy they chose snow falling.

Or, it's really just what they felt like singing and we're thinking too much.

^ @Hatouchan I noticed that Konno-san was going to Akita when Lisani was on (holiday?) but liked him being present in the 2010 Lisani clip of Kalafina I was watching this morning.

Thanks for the detailed report!

dammit, I want more lirica live ;__;

agreed. Why don't they perform I have a dream more often? It's become so uncommon despite being a tie-in

Though I'd love for them to perform mata kaze more often, I'm fine with Ongaku being performed so much. The girls always look like they're having a blast singing it, and the audience always gets hyped up. The lyrics are really nice too (déjà vu, I feel like I've written this same defence for Ongaku before, lol)

Maybe because I have a Dream came from a non-mainstream source as well? TYPE-MOON is pretty damn huge, as is Madoka, as is Kuroshitsuji. Time of Eve was a lot more obscure. I love it and bought the localised BD release last week in fact (which handily comes with the OST, Kala included. It even mentions them on the cover) but it seems a lot less known than most other anime they've worked on.

Sadly their most well known songs are amongst some of their weakest, although that's very common for music artists in general. In most cases the 'major hits' are either the least interesting or the only interesting songs that an artist releases, for reasons I'm not entirely sure. Luckily in most cases a weak song for Kalafina is still pretty phenomemal with only a handful of exceptions. I'd love more performances of Tsuioku, lirica, Utsukushisa (although that does get played occasionally), serenato, Sandpiper etc., but the more songs they release the less chance they'll perform them as they make way for newer tracks, regardless of actual quality. I just hope in a couple years or so if they're still going that Believe and Heavenly Blue will get switched out for something actually worthwhile like some of their earlier songs have.

By now Kalafina should drop Manten and to the beginning. It's way past Fate/Zero. They dropped Lacrimosa (And Kagayaku) fairly quickly and now it's almost never on setlists anymore.

Kalafina's best songs are their B-sides and album-only songs, KnK aside. I mean, just take a look at Tsuioku, lapis, Utsukushisa, lirica, Ashita no Keshiki, love come down, Natsu no Ringo, red moon, fantasia, in your eyes, neverending, sandpiper, Hanataba, consolation, signal, obbligato, Kiichigo no Shigemi ni, etc. You get the point. Even the weakest of these songs are still MUCH better than their anime tie-ins as of late.

And I'm pretty sure the girls by now know this. They're the ones who sang it, after all. Kalafina's already popular enough that they don't have to resort to 50% of the songs being anime tie-ins, KnK aside. And I only say KnK aside because all songs from KnK had effort by Kajiura.

I'd be fine with them keeping Manten, I really like it. Wouldn't mourn the loss of TTB though, it's good but nothing special. Still, as far as their anime tie-ins go, they are generally their weakest. Even so, I absolutely adore Hikari no Senritsu and Kimi no Gin no Niwa and I've grown rather fond of Alleluia, so it's not all bad. The only real problem I'd have with them dropping out of the anisong industry entirely would be that it might stop them coming to conventions which is likely the only chance I'll have to see them live again.

I agreed. But since LisAni is an anime-related concert, I can understand why they perform mostly anime songs. It's the songs choice that I have a problem with. especially snow falling. Anyhow, I don't understand why I hate this song while I adore snow is falling.

Even though I love Kalafina, if they're performing snow falling I'd probably use the time when they're singing it as 'toilet time', just like what Hatouchan said.

@Hatouchan : there are quite lot of Mata Kaze ga. CD version, progressive LE DVD live version (LOVE), Red Moon DVD live (shitty drumming) version, 5th anniv live CD version (vocally okay, the drumming is pure love), and 5th anniv oblivious WOWOW (shitty drumming). I don't really love Mata Kaze without Nozaki on drums, because Sato never rocked this song. I know that they don't perform it as much as they did back then in 2009-2010, with Magia and destination unknown came in 2011's After Eden. I personally like Mata Kaze ga much more than Magia and destination unknown, which I personally would like them to drop from their setlist.

The Lisani Live 5 Sunday Stage concert was great!!

Unfortunately the venue pen lights were sold out when I arrived so I had to buy some from a random person outside- at least I had something to wave about...

I had loads fun! The line up was LISA, KOTOKO, ZAQ, ClariS, Suzuko, Kalafina and fripSide!!!

Songs I (at the moment) remember especially enjoying: Alteration, One Way Road, and Sparkling Daydream by ZAQ; Connect by ClariS; oblivious, 音楽 and Heavenly Blue by Kalafina and the fantastic combined medley of LEVEL5-judgelight- 〜 future gazer 〜 eternal reality〜 only my railgun and then Sisters Noise by fripSide for the finale!!

Heaps of fun!!

I'd like to see LiSA, KOTOKO and ClariS myself, especially the latter. fripSide I'm hit and miss on, but they'd probably put on a good show.

Good to see they enjoyed the only good better half of Kala's setlist.
