Kalafina at Mezamashi Live Odaiba 2015年8月15日

Just listened to FotW for the first time since the initial leak, I guess I must've remembered it wrong since I barely recall even hearing it. It does sound similar to previous album enders like YnD and Symphonia but I think I prefer it to either of those. Solo is really nice, vocals sound good. The only issue I have with it is that the transition into the instrumental part is a little jarring. Other than that, I like it. It's good. The girls put on a good performance of it too, I wonder what the Budokan version will be like.

Also listened to Memoria. I've never liked the initial vocal open for that song but always enjoyed the rest of it, and Kalafina did it better justice than Eir did. I quite like Eir's voice though, it might not be perfect but it's got a lot of energy behind it, and she did put on a good show when I saw her last month. Must admit, Kalafina kinda upstaged her though, they just did a better job. Overall sounds lovely though, despite the mics sounding a bit off as people have mentioned.

Also just listened to far on the water. Love it!:nosebleed: It's not quite as great as symphonia but it manages to beat Yume no Daichi by quite a bit imo. The transition from the kajiurago to the string section is indeed very abrupt but that's really the only thing that wasn't perfect for me. This makes me hopeful for the new album!

^ Just the time "far on the water" was made is probably way prior to the time she wrote the other new songs we will get

^You might be right but I guess we can't say for sure when she wrote those songs. Kajiura apparently didn't work on any official project for quite some time now, so one would think that she must've had enough time write a song or two for Kalafina in the course of these last say 8 months.

who knows, maybe we'll get more songs that she originally started years ago

Yes, FOW is better than Yume no Daichi (I really dislike Yume no daichi). Symphonia is more awasome... Verses of Hikaru are really... clumsy? Refrain by Wakana is the best. And too much intrumental parts, it should be more parts when they're singing.

Add me to the list of people who place FOW in between symphonia and YnD. I don't terribly dislike YnD, but when I first heard it, it seemed like a few steps down from symphonia. FOW seems better, but I still really like symphonia. I get goosebumps from that song.

I didn't notice the mic issues at first; I just thought they were having an off-day, but watching again I realize for a lot of it that was the mic thing. I enjoyed watching Memoria and FOW the most.

I feel like that the mic issues were in Believe through One Light, but were fixed for FotW and Memoria.

^Yes, since I just watched the performance (slow I know) and they did seem off (Keiko being louder in One Light. And Hikaru sometimes in Believe) Then Hikaru was holding her ear piece during the FOtW and Memoria, which were really nice. I liked the interaction between Eir and Kalafina, it seemed like she was a fan of their music before, and vice versa. Is what I got from it. I like the song Believe so I enjoyed it, despite the mic issue. Hikaru rocked One Light, I thought. She was much better in this than at Budokan. Wakana did have a bit of a strain but it is a fairly new song. I really like FOtW, I think the recorded will sound just as good, since the background was the album version already. And Memoria is not a great song by Eir (I actually like some of her songs) but the collab was nice with Kala. They seemed to have fun. I like how they kind of tap their shoes and dance a little bit. I can't wait for a full band version of One Light now.

when i listen to fotw live only without looking at the girls how wakana was really flat in the final lines becomes much clearer overall it's listenable, though. also, wakana strained her voice so much in ring your bell.
