@ritardando: lol to be honest every Kalafina song is my lullaby when I have hard time to sleep so it's not a matter of the song being boring or whatever it is. :tea:

I think ballads are tricky, they can be really beautiful and emotional but when they fall flat they can be boring as well. I don't think Kalafina's (or Kajiura's in general) are boring because they are full of little details and convey a lot of feelings.

A song with less Hikaru (because there's none since lirica) is what I kinda hoped for.
Yes. I want a song with less Hikaru this time.

I think ballads depends on the arrangement as well since I love most Yuki Kajiura ballads, and everytime I listen to music, may it be ballad or not, it makes me feel awake so it's kind a coffee for me.

Well, what I mean in my earlier post is that Wakana's voice has some lullaby-effect for me so I can easily sleep by listening Kalafina's techno songs. And I don't mean destination unknown is boring either. I'm just kind of person who can easily sleep by listening rock-ish or upbeat songs than ballad. Once I almost get to sleep, my handphone plays seventh heaven and suddenly I can't sleep at all. And I don't recall I mentioned ballads or any songs as boring.

@garnetjester : What I mean is a song with really less solo part of Hikaru. Hikaru's voice was still everywhere in to the beginning. There are a lot of songs where Keiko only sings the harmony until now, and there are still lots of song with less Wakana (Magia, destination unknown, hoshi no utai, progressive, etc) but there is none with less/none Hikaru's solo since lirica. But maybe that's not gonna happen seeing how Kajiura loved using Hikaru's voice.

^ Well, Wakana and Keiko's voices are perhaps more suited to the theme of the music this time (for an anime like Fate/Zero)

e.g. in the Knk songs, there was barely any Hikaru at all, except for ARIA and sprinter

^
But lirica was released after the Rakkyo era of Kalafina, and that's the last song with no solo Hikaru from them.

But yeah, Fate/Zero is more suited for Wakana and Keiko's voice, and you do have a point there. Maybe ufotable isn't that fond to Hikaru's voice.

^ Well, Keiko and Wakana are more suited to the 'dark' theme...Hikaru probably suited the happy/bright feel of After Eden more than the other two, which is why she was featured so prominently on that album...so when we talk about the division of their parts in songs, maybe it's not who Yuki likes personally, but whoever's voice she thinks suits the mood/purpose of the song the best
I think it's the same with the typical strcuture she uses where Hikaru-verse, Wakana-chorus, Keiko-harmony because Hikaru has the sort of voice that can drive a song, Wakana's voice is good for that swelling/climatic feeling in choruses and nobody can do harmony like Keiko (plus her voice sounds the best on the lower notes)

Well, her first songs were ARIA and sprinter, and she had a fair amount of participation in Seventh Heaven. fairytale would be the only available example for what you said.

:D I'm not trying to start any trouble or anything, :uh..: but I just wanted to know what you meant by only Fairytale, because I didn't hear her in Kizuato or Kimi ga Hikari. Unless you're only counting songs with PVs from KnK, or unless I have really bad hearing which is a major possiblity.

^Well, there was no way for her to participate in Kizuato, Kimi ga or oblivious because she debuted with sprinter and ARIA. It's complicated to say her participation in KnK was small since the first three songs were made when she wasn't even a member of Kalafina in the first place.

I see. that makes more sense now. :XD: thank you. well, perhaps with this new single she will not be featured in the b-side, since everyone has a point about her participating a lot.

I agree, I want another song like fairytale... Kalafina was better back in the days before HIKARU got a lot of lines :/ No offense to HIKARU fans.. it's just my personal opinion

I agree as well. If nothing else, I'd like less solo Hikaru this time around. She had her chance to shine in After Eden. Idealistically, I hope Keiko takes the lead. :shy:

Question, though. Isn't the last song with less/no Hikaru actually sapphire, not lirica? She only had one or two lines to herself in that song. :confu:

^from what I gather, people want absolutely no Hikaru lines, which is hard to accomplish since they are a group and all... But well, to each their own.

I want a lot of Hikaru lines because she's my favorite member and I love her voice, so more Hikaru is always great for me :ohoho:

I said lirica because it's the last song with no Hikaru's solo. At least in sapphire she got around 30 seconds for herself (tsumetai kajitsu, toiki no you ni, koborete yukuuuu).

Yup, Manten should be something like Kizuato or Nohara with lots of Keiko. Actually, this A-side single is the only one from Kalafina that features each girl has a solo part. oblivious - almost Wakana's solo, sprinter/ARIA - almost Hikaru's solo + Maya, fairytale - almost no Hikaru, lacrimosa - no Hikaru, storia - Keiko only in harmony, progressive - almost no Wakana, Hikari no Senritsu - Keiko only in harmony, Kagayaku - Keiko only in harmony + that kajiuran, Magia - almost Hikaru's solo + Keiko only in bridge.

[offtopic]No offense, but for 'Magia', though her only main part is the bridge, she's singing solo in it, aside from WAKANA's chorus here and there. Also, the part has not much instruments in the background, so listeners tend to concentrate and listen to this part more carefully than other parts due to the 'silence' of most of the instruments. Thus KEIKO's bridge part is obviously the greatest part to shine the beauty of the singer's voice. In other words, she's singing the most beautiful part in 'Magia'.

..But it's quite true KEIKO doesn't have even half a Kalafina album with her as the main vocal orz...I hope at least half of Kalafina's 4th album would be devoted to her :desksweat: [/offtopic]

^
What I mean in almost Hikaru's solo is almost Hikaru take the whole song as lead vocal. I do understand that if we count the lines that the girls take, Keiko got the most line in Magia, and be the bridge is so different, that's why the bridge is the most attention-catcher in Magia. Magia will be extremely boring without that bridge. (sorry for extending the off-topic)

Really couldn't wait for Manten sample :)
